Youth Sports Site WePlay Raises $1.9 Million First Round; CAA and MLB Invests

WePlay, a NYC-based community site for youth sports, has raised a $1.87 million first round from Pequot Private Equity, CAA and Major League Baseball, says peHUB. Other than that, information about the company is scarce, as the site is in closed beta, with little additional info.
Rafat adds: This was incubated out of CAA, and Steve Hansen, once the COO of Geocities, is the CEO of this new venture which will focus on pre-high school sports. The service hasn't launched yet, but will have have social networking at its core.
