Lewis Libby found guilty of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to the FBI

(AP)  Former top White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was banned Thursday from practicing law in the nation's capital following his perjury conviction in the case of a CIA operative's leaked identity.

The disbarment order of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia had been expected.

"When a member of the bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory," the appeals court ruled.

Last May, a court panel that oversees lawyer ethics recommended that Libby be stripped of his law license in Washington. The Board on Professional Responsibility then found that Libby's conviction for lying to the FBI about the case of former CIA operative Valerie Plame amounted to "crimes that involve moral turpitude."

"This action is required by the rules following a conviction regardless of the merits of the case, and for that reason Mr. Libby expected and did not oppose the court's order," said Libby attorney William Jeffress.

Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was first licensed to work as a lawyer in Washington in 1978. His membership with the D.C. bar also was suspended for failing to pay his dues, records show.

Thursday's appeals court ruling also noted that "neither bar counsel nor respondent has taken exception to the board's report and recommendation."

Libby was the only person to face criminal charges in the case of the 2003 leak of Plame's identity. Plame has since left the CIA and contends the White House was trying to discredit her husband, a critic of President Bush's Iraq policy.

Last July, Mr. Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year sentence, sparing him from serving any prison time after being convicted of perjury and obstructing justice. Libby dropped appeals to have his convictions overturned. He has paid a $250,000 fine and remains on two years probation.

A call from the Oval Office:

"Uncle ***, last year some BAD MEN in BLACK ROBES told my friend Scooter than he had to stay in a special room for a long time so we couldn''t play together. Then you gave me this piece of paper to sign so those BAD MEN couldn''t tell my friend Scooter to go to his room. Now more BAD MEN want to take away all of Scooter''s toys so he can''t do all the things he used to. Uncle ***, is there anything else I can do so Scooter can pal around with me?"

"Georgie, I''ll be right over with more papers for you to sign. Like always, don''t do anything until I tell you to."

10 months and counting. Tell the World Court to be ready.

Disbarred? What does that matter, Libby will never miss a steak, or a bottle of liquor in his life. He wouldn''t have accepted his "patsy" role if there hadn''t been some secret financial gain.

I call for a movement to be established, whose goal is to bring Bush and his co-conspirators to justice, no matter how long it takes.

Libby, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Kristol, Abrams, Franklin, Frum, and the rest of the subhuman Zionist neo-fascistic scum that have hijacked and infested our national government, and who engineered the destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, Palestine, Lebanon, as well as our own economy, our blood, our treasure, our security, and our dignity- these men, along with the other neo-********, must be held to account and purged from our system, for what they have done.

Libby, his professional career ruined, had the splendid satisfaction of falling on the grenade that might have taken out Rove, Cheney, possibly Bush, himself.

Just as Ollie North spared so many of his co-conspirators, the GOP villains never lack for bagmen.

Libby, himself, did not plan to be a victim or a human shield-- Rove, Cheney and company made him one.

Scooter, Cheney, Rove, Bush, Rumsfeld, etc...their lies and deceit against humanity will be judged by a higher power.

Good call iceman! I''m sure if "scooter" had been part of a democrat admin, the regressives''d be calling for the death penalty for his role in the neocon bush/cheney act of treason. They, the regressives, seem awfully quiet on this one though. I say he should be tried as the commie traitor he is and barred from working in this country at all.
