The final book in the wildly successful series will be made into two films, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Producers are expected to announce Thursday that J.K. Rowling's last "Potter" installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will be split into two parts on the big screen.
The first film is slated for release in November, 2010, with part two following in May 2011.Photos: Pottermania Around the World
"It was born out of purely creative reasons," producer David Heyman told the Times. "Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book."
Filming began in September on the sixth "Potter" flick, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."
"It's been brilliant," said star Daniel Radcliffe. "It's also, I think, the funniest of the films so far."
The "Potter" film franchise has pulled in $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office.

- I''ll just read the book - if I cared, that is. I''ve got enough reading material for the moment; mostly for jobs that''ll probably be offshored anyway and reminders why I may as well write hocus pocus fodder like this "indispensable" J K Rowling. Does "J K" stand for "Just Kidding"?
Splitting it into two movies... time to whistle "We''re In The Money"... - Reply to this comment
- I loved the Harry Potter books! I love some, maybe most of the Harry Potter movies! But let''s face it--Poor Jo Rowling just doesn''t have enough money yet! What? J.K. isn''t "rowling" in enough dough! Please send your billions to J.K. Rowling c/o Hogwart''s Castle, Edinburgh, Scotland! js

- This should have been done for all the films. They should have been 5 hour movies. Too much gets cut and changed from the original storey. The last film was pathetic. The students were never in a class room with cuts on their hands-that was a lie!! It didn''t follow very well either, the same with the one before it. Badly done. I personally refuse to go to the films anymore as they are not following the books.
Its as if the characers are saying here we are, look at us, and the scenes are around them, not them leading the scene.
The actresses and actors are still good. Although I do not like this new Dumbledore, and how he is portraying the part. It is such a shame Richard Harris died, he was the part!
Whoever is running the show has also ruined some of the characters. This is not a childrens book. It is an adult series. I do not see adults at midnight buying for their child-its for themselves. The kiddie parties are babysittinng services to keep the kid occupied at midnight. And an excuse for the adults to dress up as they would like to-as witches. - Reply to this comment
- They removed too many elements from the last movie.
