Oral Sex And Pot Linked To Cancer

Study Links Certain Head And Neck Cancers To Sexual Activity, Marijuana And HPV

(WebMD)  Certain head and neck cancers may be tied to sexual activity, marijuana use, and human papillomavirus (HPV ) type 16.

That news comes from Johns Hopkins University's Maura Gillison, MD, PhD, and colleagues, who studied 240 people with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (head and neck cancers). Some of their cancers tested positive for HPV 16; others were negative for HPV 16.

The patients answered questions about their lifestyle. For comparison, 322 cancer-free people answered the same lifestyle questions.

Here's what the researchers learned:

  • Head and neck cancers that were positive for HPV 16 were associated with having more oral sex partners and smoking more marijuana.

  • Head and neck cancers that were negative for HPV 16 weren't linked to sex or marijuana. Instead, they were tied to smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol, and having poor oral hygiene.

  • Because the study was observational, it's not clear if those risk factors caused cancer.

Based on the findings, Gillison's team argues that HPV 16-negative and HPV 16-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinomas should be considered two different types of cancer.

The study appears in Tuesday's advance online edition of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Well, if somebody has a STD and they start shoving their parts into someone else''s throat or vice-versa, or into other parts, the immediate concern would be STDs. I mean, everyone knows that relationships are wrong, marriage is evil, and it''s nobody else''s business... no wonder society''s a mess: Isn''t society EVERYONE''S business?! Not to the self-righteous lefties, who prefer whining about their ultimately empty causes...

People still are allowed their choice, but people ought to THINK beforehand. If more people thought, we''d be a true pro-life society and not a nominal one.

As for pot? Well, these days what DOESN''T cause cancer?

So, why was the study released if it shows nothing of concrete consequence? Was this study prompted by the lobbyists for the Church evangelicals, or something? I don''t get what the *ell this piece even says. Could it''s release be because the Pope is coming to the U.S. for his first visit in another couple of weeks?

the next time they do a study it should be what effects that oil being burned to heat homes has on people.what goes up must come down..just because these people live these life styles do not mean that it causes cancer, but i guess they have to blame something for it,than to release the real truth..

Of course, highly carcinogenic diesel smoke is still being pumped out by the megaton, with more to come from the junker Mexican rigs the gummint is putting on the road.

But the trucking industry and the Mexican trucking industry have a lot bigger lobby than do the marijuana and oral *** lobbies.

Funny how WebMD always plays up these establishment "studies"--almost like they''re a mouthpiece of Harry Anslinger and Bill Bennett.

Google up Marijuana vs. lung cancer, May 2006. That''s when the amazing results of a twenty year study were released. There are several articles about it, all released within a week of each other. Then absolutly not another word about it. It shows the lengths that the powers that be will go to to hide the truth. The results were not what they wanted.Check it out.

hmmm, last i checked, when a condition appeared in both the presence and absence of a particular quality that meant the condition was *independent* of that quality; that is, there is *no* relation between them

    Is this what they mean??????????

A wealthy hospital benefactor was being shown around the hospital. During her tour she passed a room where a male patient was masturbating furiously. ''Oh my GOD!'' screamed the woman. ''That''s disgraceful! Why is he doing that?''

The doctor who was leading the tour calmly explained, ''I''m very sorry that you were exposed to that, but this man has a serious condition where his testicles rapidly fill with ***, and if he doesn''t do that at least five times a day, he''ll be in extreme pain and his testicles could easily rupture.''

''Oh, well in that case, I guess it''s okay,'' said the woman. As they passed by the very next room, they saw a male patient laying in bed while a nurse performed oral *** on him.

Again, the woman screamed,''Oh my GOD! How can THAT be justified?''

Again the doctor spoke very calmly: ''Same illness, better health plan.''

Now can guys get the HPV vaccine "on label" and covered by insurance (rather than "off label" and out of pocket)? What the feck is the hold up on that? We know HPV causes penile cancer and anal cancer, not to mention genital warts, but somehow that''s not enough for a guy to get the vaccine. Feck that!

OH! This story is BOGUS! And it tics me off (for several reasons.) The headline reads, "Oral *** And Pot Leads To Cancer" based on a "study?" It was observational? How obtuse. I wonder if there is a correlation between the styles of underwear they wear or the foods they eat for a closer, realistic statistic. Yup, already confirmed in the media as fact. .. because a hand full of people had those commonalities?? Get real. try testing the plastic we''ve been storing our foods in, heating up in the microwave with, the fake food that get shoved down our throats at every turn ... yeah, test some of THAT!

It''s funny how articles about pot bring some of the stupidest people out of the woodwork. Pot smoke and cigarette smoke both contain all the same carcinogens and carbon gasses. THC has limited medical applications but smoking anything has nothing to do with medicine. Pot smoking is about getting high and getting rich.

If moldy bread costs $3000.00 a pound and got you stoned, the pot growers would try to convince us that it%u2019s penicillin.

Question is would we believe them?

You are incorrect. Pot does not usually contain additives, such as burn accellerants, and flavoring "sauces", and the active ingredient is not "free based" with ammonia in order to increase the dosage of the active ingredient, as is done with nicotine for cigarettes, and THC is not addictive, compared to nicotine.

Furthermore, pot is not usually drawn through "filters" which used to be made of asbestos.

And as far as smoking pot to "just get high" since when is anyone the judge of whether this is right, or wrong? If you don''t like it, fine, then don''t do it, but that should be your own choice, no one should have the right to dictate that choice for you.

Pot and oral eroticism? Sounds like a matter of personal hygiene rather than a magic combination threat to me...

ROFL! This report must have been funded by the people trying to cover up the fact that STATIN DRUGS are killing people. One scientist recently said "Statins are the biggest fraud ever to have been pulled on humans, in the history of modern medicine."

So, if you are on them, or have a loved one who is, read the Weston A. Price report "The Dangers of Statin Drugs." And, more, like the VitaminC Foundation''s info on the web. Just google that.

Statin drugs are making people sick, by doing major damage to the heart muscle. So, they take up space re: Oral *** and pot? What a joke!

It''s all about money, and making people not realize what is REALLY the hot topic in medicine. People are being killed by statin drugs! "Statins, the thief of memory" ... go take a peek. It''s all hushed up! THIS story is a set up, to get us to quit thinking about "Dr. Jarvik" ... under investigation by congress right now. To make us not find out that the big pharma is killing people on purpose. They''ve know it now for 13 years.

Oral ***, and pot? Yeaaaaah right.

You know I get sick of all the *** written about pot. If you don''t agree with it, then keep away from those who do it. People in this country need to worry about the real killers, meth, cocaine and of course the good old prescription drugs. No person has EVER died from an overdoes of marijuana.

Now we are told that oral s*x can cause cancer. This is the biggest load of *** I have ever read. What a joke.

Are we humans our own worst enemies, or what? *** and drugs will always be with us. ALWAYS.
The only way I can see how we can get rid of vices is by becoming like the Taliban or Saudi Arabia.
Otherwise, if we really appreciate our freedoms, we should expect a place in our society for vices.
In the end, if your''re going to indulge yourself, it''s a matter of doing things in moderation, isn''t it?
I just hope studies like these are not used to further erode our personal freedoms, and that someday soon we can relax the irrational restrictions we put on ourselves.

A closer look at these stats indicate that 98% drove vehicles with 6 cylinder engines and 100% slept in a bed 99.9% of the time. Conclusion: sleeping in a bed is directly linked to neck cancer. This information does not prove anything, however I would guess that performing oral s e cks on anyone with an STD is not advisable. Licking urinals would also , I suspect, be frowned upon by 9 out 10 doctors that release findings before they show a clear link to any medically usable conclusion.
