That news comes from Johns Hopkins University's Maura Gillison, MD, PhD, and colleagues, who studied 240 people with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (head and neck cancers). Some of their cancers tested positive for HPV 16; others were negative for HPV 16.
The patients answered questions about their lifestyle. For comparison, 322 cancer-free people answered the same lifestyle questions.
Here's what the researchers learned:
Because the study was observational, it's not clear if those risk factors caused cancer.
Based on the findings, Gillison's team argues that HPV 16-negative and HPV 16-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinomas should be considered two different types of cancer.
The study appears in Tuesday's advance online edition of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

See all 138 CommentsPeople still are allowed their choice, but people ought to THINK beforehand. If more people thought, we''d be a true pro-life society and not a nominal one.
As for pot? Well, these days what DOESN''T cause cancer?
Complete Morons!
Brain-dead Shrubbies!
Enslaved to their King!
They receive their daily instruction from Rush Limpdicck.Afterwards they take turns licking Shrub`s panties, before returning to their duties as Bush-bots.
A Very Pathetic indeed !
But the trucking industry and the Mexican trucking industry have a lot bigger lobby than do the marijuana and oral *** lobbies.
Funny how WebMD always plays up these establishment "studies"--almost like they''re a mouthpiece of Harry Anslinger and Bill Bennett.
what is this? the new "intelligent design" science?
A wealthy hospital benefactor was being shown around the hospital. During her tour she passed a room where a male patient was masturbating furiously. ''Oh my GOD!'' screamed the woman. ''That''s disgraceful! Why is he doing that?''
The doctor who was leading the tour calmly explained, ''I''m very sorry that you were exposed to that, but this man has a serious condition where his testicles rapidly fill with ***, and if he doesn''t do that at least five times a day, he''ll be in extreme pain and his testicles could easily rupture.''
''Oh, well in that case, I guess it''s okay,'' said the woman. As they passed by the very next room, they saw a male patient laying in bed while a nurse performed oral *** on him.
Again, the woman screamed,''Oh my GOD! How can THAT be justified?''
Again the doctor spoke very calmly: ''Same illness, better health plan.''
that is the biggest bunch of nonsense I ever heard

I have to agree .. the sample size of already sick people is so small that you KNOW they were massaging the numbers for a desired result.
If moldy bread costs $3000.00 a pound and got you stoned, the pot growers would try to convince us that it%u2019s penicillin.
Question is would we believe them?
You are incorrect. Pot does not usually contain additives, such as burn accellerants, and flavoring "sauces", and the active ingredient is not "free based" with ammonia in order to increase the dosage of the active ingredient, as is done with nicotine for cigarettes, and THC is not addictive, compared to nicotine.
Furthermore, pot is not usually drawn through "filters" which used to be made of asbestos.
And as far as smoking pot to "just get high" since when is anyone the judge of whether this is right, or wrong? If you don''t like it, fine, then don''t do it, but that should be your own choice, no one should have the right to dictate that choice for you.
Pot and oral eroticism? Sounds like a matter of personal hygiene rather than a magic combination threat to me...
So, if you are on them, or have a loved one who is, read the Weston A. Price report "The Dangers of Statin Drugs." And, more, like the VitaminC Foundation''s info on the web. Just google that.
Statin drugs are making people sick, by doing major damage to the heart muscle. So, they take up space re: Oral *** and pot? What a joke!
It''s all about money, and making people not realize what is REALLY the hot topic in medicine. People are being killed by statin drugs! "Statins, the thief of memory" ... go take a peek. It''s all hushed up! THIS story is a set up, to get us to quit thinking about "Dr. Jarvik" ... under investigation by congress right now. To make us not find out that the big pharma is killing people on purpose. They''ve know it now for 13 years.
Oral ***, and pot? Yeaaaaah right.
Now we are told that oral s*x can cause cancer. This is the biggest load of *** I have ever read. What a joke.
The only way I can see how we can get rid of vices is by becoming like the Taliban or Saudi Arabia.
Otherwise, if we really appreciate our freedoms, we should expect a place in our society for vices.
In the end, if your''re going to indulge yourself, it''s a matter of doing things in moderation, isn''t it?
I just hope studies like these are not used to further erode our personal freedoms, and that someday soon we can relax the irrational restrictions we put on ourselves.
