Beyonce A Beauty Trendsetter?
(CBS)
In cosmetics, it's always about the next big beauty blockbuster.
So what's it going to be this year? What'll be "in"? "Hot"?
Allure magazine is always on the hunt for the best of the best.
And the magazine's beauty director, Amy Keller, peered into her crystal ball for Early Show viewers Monday.
Allure constantly keeps an eye out for the latest beauty products and treatments -- searching, testing, as well as working with experts to find the best of the best.
Among the beauty products on Allure's radar now:
Chanel Nail Colour in Blue Satin, $19.00
Unusual nail polish colors such as blue and green are a trend we're already seeing lots of celebrities wearing, including Beyonce and Aretha at this year's Grammys. Chanel has come out with a deep navy blue color with a bit of a shimmer, called "Blue Satin." It's a nice alternative to wearing black, and a fun color to wear for spring that isn't the typical pale pink. Go to Chanel.com
Given that laser hair removal is the No. 1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment for women under 34 (Source: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the development of the Tria, the first at-home Federal Drug Administration-approved laser hair remover, is a big deal. It emits a short pulse of light, then beeps when it's time to move it. You can use it on your legs, underarms, and bikini area. Being a laser, there is some slight discomfort, a little redness and warmth. However, this is a fantastic option for women to use as a touch-up between doctor visits. The engineers who created the diode hair removal laser that doctors use in-office created the Tria. Go to Triabeauty.com
N.V. Perricone M.D. Cosmeceuticals Firming Neck Cream, $95.00
As we continue our search for that fountain of youth, sales of anti-aging products totaled a whopping $1.7 billion last year alone (Source: NPD Group). But it's not just about the face. Now, women are beginning to pay more attention to other parts of their bodies, including the neck, and with good reason -- the skin on the neck is thin and sensitive, often leading to the dreaded "turkey neck" as we age. The new Perricone firming neck cream supposedly plumps the neck with peptides, an anti-aging ingredient commonly used in face creams. It's non-irritating and has vitamin C, which is good for improving firmness and elasticity, while reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and dark spots. GO to QVC.com
Laura Mercier Faux Eyelashes (Center Lash, Corner Lash or Full Lash), $18.00 each
False lashes are once again growing in popularity. Women used to be afraid to try them at home, but that's changing with the introduction of better lashes that are easier to apply. The new Laura Mercier line of faux eyelashes now enables you to have coverage where you want it -- either in the center, corner, or a full lash if you need it. Go to lauramercier.com
Fekkai Salon Glaze, $28.00
Everyone loves the results at the salon after a glaze, and now we can do it at home, between salon visits. The Fekkai salon glaze is a clear glossing and conditioning treatment that seals in color and adds shine and vibrancy. This can be used on all hair types, especially color-treated hair, and it's made with all natural ingredients, including grape-seed extract and almond protein. It's a great alternative to salon-only glazing services. Go to beauty.com
Maia Satinjet Showerhead by Methven, $395
Water therapy is all the rage these days, and now you can receive the ultimate water spa experience with the Maia Satinjet -- a showerhead that removes chlorine from the water; it can dry out your skin and hair. The multi-purpose showerhead uses twin jets to turn each normal-size droplet of water into thousands, delivering a luxe spray of 3,000 drops per second, which is ample shower power for the body, but also gentle enough for a great facial massage. Also, recently introduced -- calming, soothing and energizing shower infusions that can be placed inside the nozzle. Scents include lavender and vanilla, green tea and peppermint, grapefruit and pomegranite, and jasmine and ylang-ylang. Go to Barneys.com
