Hey, Barack, Hillary: It's Spring Break!
Mo Rocca Thinks Candidates Deserve A Rest From The Campaign, And So Do We
-
Play CBS Video Video Mo Rocca's Presidential Advice As the Democratic presidential hopefuls prepare for fierce campaigning in Pennsylvania, Mo Rocca suggests that all of the candidates take advantage of Spring Break in order to get much needed rest.

Mo Rocca thinks that candidates deserve a break from campaigning ... and that goes for the rest of us as well. (CBS)
Barack Obama has got to be really annoyed with Hillary Clinton right now.
Everything was rolling along. Obama's nomination work was almost done. He must have been counting on a little R & R with Michelle and the girls. But the only thing he had to hope for was good weather.
Then Clinton went and won Ohio, Rhode Island and the primary portion of Texas' bizarre-o "prima-caucus" (which sounds like an annual exam for men over 50). Suddenly there's a whole lot more work to do before Pennsylvania's April 22nd primary.
Yes, looks like someone is missing spring break this year.
Spring break is the American vacation ritual made famous by MTV. Exhausted college kids worn out from months of rigorous partying on campus go south for a week of rigorous partying in the sun before they return tanned and reenergized for a couple more months of partying on campus.
Of course, grown-ups need to get their batteries recharged, too.
If you work too much - and Americans by and large do - the edges begin dulling. The wear and tear starts showing. You get worse at your job.
That goes for candidates, too. These guys have been at it for a year! They need to give themselves, their families, and most of all us a break.
Take a week off. Turn off the BlackBerries! Go lie on the beach.
No, there are no beaches in Scranton! [Hey, I know a fabulous ranch in Crawford, Texas that's great for vacations.]
John McCain had it right: Wrap up the nomination early, then relax. I don't expect to see him featured on "Republicans Gone Wild." But I do expect John McCain's spring break to do him some good before the real battle begins.
So come on, Barack, change it up and take a break. Hey, Hillary: experience Cancun! You're both tired!
Frankly, so are we.

First of all, at this point, the Democratic Nominee will be either Hillary Clinton or Barck Obama. I WILL support either of them, NO MATTER WHICH IT IS! Why? Because the alternative is McCain, who will give us 4 more years of "Bush" policies! Obama and Clinton agree on most issues, and to me that''s what it all comes down to! - Reply to this comment
- OBAMA DEMOCRATS AND SUPPORTERS, GET A CLUE.
Know what Obama means when he says he needs your help to get change: it means not just your vote--it means your support. How? STOP SAYING YOU WILL SUPPORT THE NOMINEE NO MATTER WHO IT IS. WHY?
1. If you will support the Dem nominee no matter what, why should the status quo not just put their candidate as the nominee and ignore the people''''''''s choice? (you''''''''ll vote for who they pick anyway)
2. If you will support the nominee no matter what, Why should Hillary run an honest, fair or even decent campaign? (even if she cheats, you''''''''ll vote for her no matter what)
3. If you will support the nominee no matter what, why should the SD not support the person who pays them the most or offers the best favors? (even if they ignore the true leader, you will elect who they tell you to no matter what)
Do you people even know who the status quo is or what it is? its not just corruption in Washington--it is YOU. It is who you choose and HOW you choose them. If you keep doing what you always do for the party--why should they change? Why should they stop the war? You''''''''ll vote for them no matter what.
Why should they fix NAFTA? YOu''''''''ll vote for them no matter what. Why should they stop backroom deals or stop fixing the elections so their best party pick can win? You''''''''ll vote for them no matter what.
People don''''t want real change. They want a magic wand to wave and things to be different--while they each keep doing the same ol thing. - Reply to this comment
- California is 35% latino and 20% Asian and obama has a problem convincing these populations that he''s one of them. We just don''t know or trust him. And, "it ain''t gonna happen in a few months either," as my wife says. I think Cali goes red if obama is the nominee. ditto for NJ. Toss-up states like FL, NM, NV and CO become darker red. Can he win Miss, Georgia, South Carolina? doubtful. I just can''t see how the electoral math works out for Obama. P.S. don''t think I know what I''m talking about? you come talk to the folks in East L.A. who voted en masse to make sure Clinton beat Obama in Cali. best chance for obama is to take the VP spot and wait his turn.

- There are lots of supporters for Obama online. But from the comments they made, some appear juvenille at best and malicious at worst. They offered little real substance, just like the candidate they supported.

- Is someone drunk? Voting in Mississippi starts Tuesday. Hillary will be beaten on Tuesday - again. I know she''d like to get it out of the press. She''s probably like to avoid the whole thing, but like it or not we''re voting on Tuesday.

- First THE MEDIA IS NOT GOING EASY ON BARACK OBAMA!!
Quite the contrary the Clintons know how to manipulate the media and they try to one up any positive story printed about him...No sooner did the story of Senator Obama raising an all time record breaking fundraising of $55 million in the month of February than the Clinton campaign released that they had raised $4 million since March 5th primaries and it gets put over Obama''s story. Seriously I will assume that you don''t see much of what the media is doing if you really believe the SNL version of reality. The Media is actually tough on Senator Obama and they help the Clinton campaign out quite a bit. Although I have to give credit to the Clinton camp as they work the media, get stories released, stage media events etc. to keep themselves on top in the media.
Senator Clinton has earned my disrespect all by herself by no fault of the media. As I have watched the senate for years and her record and behavior in the senate has been very unimpressive. There are many other female senators that I admire but Hillary has never earned my admiration as Senator. I have gone beyond losing all respect for her via her own campaign tactics... NO, in my opinion the press likes news... and the press likes the Clintons because they give them a lot to write about.

- I wouldn''t mind a woman president, just not this one. Her whole career was based 1) clinging along with ther husbands talentm then 2) portraying herself as a victim who hates men, then 3) gender bashing and playing the man-hating card for angry old divorced voters.
The equivalent would be a black candidate who 1) got his career started by hanging around with white racists as their protege, then 2) claimed they were mean to him and won a Senate seat on victimhood, then 3) ran for the presidency on a campagin of anger against whites. That would not be my choice for the first black president.
Hillary is the wrong woman. The more progress she makes, the more good female candidates, ones that seek to represent all of us, are being hurt in their future prospects.
Like everything the Clintons touch, the feminist movement will also be destroyed by these fratracidal maniacs (sic). - Reply to this comment
- I saw Obama giving his speech after the Wyoming Primary and it looked like he had a big ole booger hanging from his nose. I just couldn''t watch after that.

- No time to rest for Obama.
With Hillary now campaigning for John McCain true Democrats need Barack to work extra hard showing voters what true loyalty and true judgement are all about. - Reply to this comment
- Why should Obama need a rest? The misogynist, Hillary-hating media are continually propping him up with pillows, massaging his feet, and all but running his campaign for him.

- I think Obama should take the advice of his aides who are suggesting that he go to Europe, Israel, & Asia so that he can show who our allies really want answering that phone at 3 A.M.

- Why shouldn''t the delegates from Florida and Michigan be seated. What did they do other than to cry foul over the selective process that was put forth that allowed South Carolina to move it''s primary date up so that the DNC could guage how well Barack could carry the black vote. And what did Barack do - he lied in order to try to draw an affiliation with them to win over their support. People want to accuse Hillary of being the first out of the box to go negative but the fact of the matter is that Barack has been lying and deceiving people from the get-go in order to gain support. Check it out - it''s not speculation - it''s fact! http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/saywhat.asp

- Well the gutless, spineless, *** did it! Howard Dean is going to seat the delegates of Florida, and Michigan. Why I''ve wasted my time with the Democratic Party for 47 years I''ll never know. You''re witnessing the "Fall of the Democratic Party". Turn the page.

- I think the Obama''s and the Clinton''s should go to Cancun together and play "Wife Swap" and the whole thing should be recorded for reality TV. Then maybe we could get a nominee, once Bill and Michelle have strangled each other. Maybe we could even get that dream ticket once O & H spend the night together in the Emergency Room.
