(APTV/Channel 9) (CBS/AP) A would-be armed robber in Australia couldn't have picked a worse target. He ended up hog-tied and in hospital after trying to hold up a bar where a biker gang was holding a meeting. The man and his accomplice, wearing ski masks and waving machetes, stormed into a club in a Sydney suburb last night, local time. About 50 bikers had just started a club meeting in another room and jumped in to intervene. Security camera video from inside the bar caught the entire fracas, which began by the bikers looking somewhat confused. As soon as the burly members of the Southern Cross Cruiser Club realized what was happening, most of them can be seen chasing the robbers, with chairs and tables hoisted over their heads. The club president, identifying himself only as "Jester," said one suspect escaped by leaping over a balcony, while the other tried to flee through a service entrance. "Imagine 50 bikers coming running at you, all wearing leather and in black," added Jester. Police confirm club patrons subdued one man, who was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The other suspect was captured nearby. Jester says the robber had walked right past the bikers as he entered the bar but apparently failed to notice them, adding "I don't think he did his homework very well." Security video also showed the alleged getaway driver waiting in a white car in the parking lot. When the gang of angry bikers charged from the bar's doors and began pelting the vehicle with bottles and other objects, he drove off, quickly. © MMVIII, CBS Interactive Inc. All Rights Reserved.
