So You Want To Be President!

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  The following is a weekly 60 Minutes commentary by CBS News correspondent Andy Rooney.

I don't know how you feel about it but I think this is the earliest that we all got tired of the next election. There's a lot of talk about it these days and I got wondering why in the world anyone would want to be president of the United States anyway.

I mean, it's a great honor but the money isn't any better than being president of a big company and being president of the United States is a lot harder. The president makes $400,000 a year which isn't pocket change and of course he does get a place to live in rent free.

But who wants to live in a house where people stare at you all day through an iron fence?

I can't imagine what it's like living in The White House. Do the president and Mrs. Bush ever get to just sit down and eat alone at the kitchen table? The president must feel like having a quick hamburger once in a while, with ketchup I bet. Can he do that?

There's definitely a downside to being president and Barack Obama and John McCain ought to keep that in mind so they won't feel bad if they lose.

I wonder what they do about the furniture in The White House when a new president moves in. Would Barack be sleeping in the same bed President Bush sleeps in now? I'm sure they'd change the sheets, but they probably just throw out everything, sheets, blankets, mattress - even the bed.

They could get big money for a bed any president slept in, although I don't think a "George Bush Slept Here" bed would bring anywhere near the price that a "George Washington Slept Here" bed would bring. More like what they'd get for maybe a "Calvin Coolidge Slept Here" bed.

I've seen pictures and there are a lot of closets in The White House. If Hillary should get to be president she'd be moving back into a place that she's familiar with from the days when she was there with Bill. I wonder if she left any of her old clothes in the closets and how much closet space she'd give Bill if she was president and he was just her husband. Women take up more space than men, even when they aren't president.

I wouldn't mind deciding who to appoint to the Supreme Court if I was president but I'd hate to decide who got the big closet.

I like the Late Late Show with
That show made me laugh, and thanks for making my day.
http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latelate/ better than Conan and Kimmel for the main reason is that Craig is happier being there, and does the Interviews better making the guests the Star rather than the Hosts trying to me more than the Star. I liked seeing Brooke Shields on the Late Late Show on CBS as she is looking Hotter than Ever. thank you for reading, and good job Monday Night on the Late Night TV after Letterman. Good Job on the News Reports, Broadcasts, and Online Information that all around CBS is exceeding and doing a better all around job and performance than 4, and 7.

The comparison of the 3 after Letterman, I have to say, once I thought the http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latelate/ Show was a terrible show comparing it to Benny Hill. However all around after watching Monday Nights Show, I like the Late Late Show with Craig better than I do Conan and Kimmel. The reasons is that first Craig seemed to like what he was doing more. He was in a good mood, a happy mood where Conan seems like he doesn''t like all the guests, or give some guests the cold shoulder.
I think the way Craig did the Interview with Brooke Shields was better than Leno did all around adding that Monday Night the Food Cooking Hour with Ming was more Entertaining and better Television that the other networks. There is a sense of Class at CBS on the Network more than I notices before on how the Bosses have the People under them doing a better than expected job, and that is all people can ask for is that 100% a person gives for his or her talents whether it be in News, Sports, or Entertainment.

www.jamestowncalif.com For the Past 4 weeks, I have been watching local channels 2, 4, 7 more to compare the News Broadcast and Entertainment Broadcast. I personally like the direction CBS News has taken Presenting the News on Local 2 and 9 compared to Local 4 and 7. To add, the Work the Journalists and Reporters do on CBS is all around better. CBS is doing better on the News Reports, on the online reports, and on late night comedy.

user168..I find it odd that you obsess over Hillary when Andy didn''t even mention her name. Of course, I also find it odd that Andy seems to forget that a women is running also. I guess old *** are often sexist, aren''t they.

Someone should want to be president just to humbly and patriotically serve his country (and considering our world-power status, this planet as well).

Almost every mom cooks for her child; Hillary is no different. Almost every loving mom extends the love of her child to include other children; Hillary is different - She loves not Iraqi children. Almost every woman with true compassion would first feed the hungry, especially children, instead of reckless spending; Hillary simply "forgets" to do that.

How sad for us to learn the author of "It Takes a Village", supposed-child-hungry-fighter Hillary spends voters'' money recklessly, that nearly $100,000 went for party platters and groceries before the Iowa caucuses... Rooms at the Bellagio luxury hotel in Las Vegas consumed more than $25,000... while many CHILDREN are starving...
