Pettitte Rats Out Clemens

By Ryan Grim

(The Politico)  The feud between Roger Clemens and his trainer Brian McNamee over whether the star pitcher used performance-enhancing drugs has now gone from a he-said/he-said to a two-to-one argument.

Andy Pettitte has sided with McNamee and ratted out his friend Clemens. He told the committee during his deposition that in 1999 or 2000, Clemens “told me that he had taken HGH.” In 2005, Pettitte asked Clemens if he would own up to HGH use to the media. “I never told you that,” Pettite recalls Clemens telling him. “I told you that Debbie used HGH.”

Debbie is Clemens’ wife. But here’s the problem -  both Clemens and McNamee agree that McNamee injected Clemens’s wife with human growth hormone. But it happened in 2003, several years after the alleged conversation.

Clemens was grilled by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) on the contradiction and stuck to the notion that Pettitte was “mis-remembering” the original conversation.
