(CBS)  British singer, songwriter Kate Walsh brings listeners back to the basics.

Walsh doesn't need the materialistic things in life. She doesn’t own an iPod, a CD player or Walkman, instead all she needs to make beautiful, memorable music is the sweet, angelic sound of her voice accompanied by a soft compilation of violins and an acoustic guitar.

The 24-year-old U.K. sensation shared her raw talent with an American audience on The Saturday Early Show.

Dubbed "the British Norah Jones," Walsh has a voice that soothes the soul.

Although Walsh's music may be considered low-key, her sound subtly resonates, making the listener take the speed of everyday life down a notch.

Her hit single, "Your Song," reveals an unmistakable vulnerability with lyrics that admit "I'm stuck on a boy that fills me with joy," which was featured on the "Grey's Anatomy's" spin-off, "Private Practice."

Growing up in the slow-paced, fishing village of Burham, England, Walsh never quite felt like she belonged there. Instead, she was drawn to a more fast-paced lifestyle in a thriving city.

Her first single, "Talk of the Town" off of her album "Tim's House," which doesn't shine the best light on her fellow townies, was released on iTunes and became the "Single of the Week." From there, "Tim's House" shot up to No. 1 on the U.K. iTunes chart.
