(CBS) "High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale underwent rhinoplasty -- a "nose job" -- in late November, saying she needed to repair a "deviated septum" because she was having difficulty breathing.

Tisdale unveiled her "new nose" last month, and many of her fans were disappointed.

They say she doesn't look like herself anymore, and speculation began that she could be the next Jennifer Grey, co-star of the hit movie, "Dirty Dancing," who got a nose job and whose career never took off.

Grey and Tisdale aren't the only stars to have gotten rhinoplasty and, apparently, paid the price.

Ashley Simpson, Michael Jackson, and many others have gone under the knife to get new noses, and many observers feel their careers have suffered for it.

Still other celebrities, such as Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Anniston got nose jobs, with no apparent adverse career effects.

Then, there's that rare breed of celebrities, such as Barbra Streisand, who've refused to have cosmetic surgery, and gone on to have amazing careers.

On The Early Show Thursday, Star magazine Editor at Large Julia Allison discussed celebrity nose jobs.

"The more dramatic the nose job, the madder fans get," Allison observed.
