Leno, Letterman Announce 1st Guests

(CBS/AP)  Robin Williams will be David Letterman's first guest upon the return of his "Late Show" on CBS Wednesday, a publicist for the show confirms to The ShowBuzz.

The appearance of a Hollywood A-lister who can talk a mile a minute may be Letterman's way of quickly trying to draw a distinction between his show and his late-night rivals, who are without writers and may also have trouble booking major entertainers as guests.

His guests for the remainder of the week include comedian/talk show host Bill Maher and Golden Globe nominee Ellen Page ("Juno") on Thursday, and Donald Trump on Friday. This week's musical guests are country singer Shooter Jennings, a performance from the cast of the Broadway musical "Young Frankenstein," and rapper Lupe Fiasco.

NBC's "Tonight" show said Monday that Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee will appear on Jay Leno's first show back Wednesday.

2Letterman announced Friday that his production company, Worldwide Pants, had reached an agreement to have his show return with writers despite the continuing writers strike, which began Nov. 5. The deal also allows writers to return to Craig Ferguson's late-night show, also owned by Worldwide Pants.

The late-night shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien are also returning Wednesday but have said little about who will be appearing.

i surely do miss johnny carson - there will never be a replacement for him. leno''s ok, but that conan makes me puke. can''t stomach his looks and he''s just not funny. sorry dude, you just don''t have it in my book. letterman''s ok too - but we''ll never be blessed with the likes of a johnny carson again. i do admit that craig ferguson is a riot - just comes on so late.

The Tonight Show lost all its flavor when Carson left the show.

Dave Letterman is better than Leno by a long shot and Conan Obrian is just a child in a mans skin nothing funny about him.

Just shows how far down the chain these shows have gone the past years.

It''s great to see the working stiff''s getting the upper hand for a change. We could use a LOT more of that all across this country. Then maybe our standard of living would start rise off the bottom.

Huckabee on Leno? Hmm, a presidential candidate who''s happy to cross a picket line. Not that we need one, but it''s yet another reason not to vote for Huckabee. And a good reason not to watch Leno without his writers.
