Airliner Gets Stuck In The Mud

A United Airlines flight bound for Denver Sunday morning had to be evacuated after the plane took a wrong turn and became stuck in the mud.

No one was injured in the accident, which occurred shortly before 7 a.m. CST, and the 182 passengers were taken by bus back to the terminal, said Kansas City International Airport spokesman Joe McBride.

McBride said Flight 183 was taxiing to the runway under foggy conditions when it turned early onto an access road.

"The road is not wide enough and the nose gear and right main gear went into the mud," he said.

He said United was working to find other flights for the passengers and removing the plane from the mud.

I know we are all human; however, this type of thing should never happen. If visibility is that bad, close the airport.

Well from Experience, I know that some of the Airport Runway Signage isn''t the best, and sometimes Difficult to read the little half-azzed marked signs, especially with fresh snow on the ground and the sun blazing in your face, the signage at some of these Airports are pretty badd, but they don''t seem to care, theres a lot going on up there in that Cockpit to listen to, watch for and double check for too. As far as the pilots being fired for this, how stupid, especially if they have experience and are good pilots, too badd we can''t hold our corrupt politicians to the same standards when they vote wrong or are caught up in ridlicious scandalsm like Iran-Contra, White Water, Katrina, Iraq War, Halliburton scandal etc. Corporate America needs a swift hard, very hard Kick in the Azz too !!!!!! These corporate CEOs, many of them need to be placed in front of a Whinning Jet Engine at full-throttle, and sucked into the Spinning Fan blades, till they come out like Hamburger, out the other end !!

What people don''t realize is that being a pilot is a "one-strike-you''re-out" profession. The captain (who steers on the ground) and possibly the first officer are going to be out of a job following this incident.

Being a pilot isn''t all fun and games. One bad thing happens, and it''s time to be a real estate agent or Macdonald''s night manager.

An easy mistake to make given the limited visibilty outside and the limited field of vision through the windshield. That''s not nearly as embarrassing as unknowingly landing at the wrong airport which happens occasionally.
