Bin Laden Driver To Face Tribunal

Judge Rejects Argument Yemeni Held At Gitmo Is A Prisoner Of War

(AP)  A U.S. military judge said a former driver for Osama bin Laden can be prosecuted by a war-crimes tribunal at Guantanamo Bay, rejecting the argument that the man is a prisoner of war and beyond the tribunal's jurisdiction.

The judge, Navy Capt. Keith Allred, said there is credible evidence that Yemeni prisoner Salim Ahmed Hamdan was bin Laden's personal driver from 1997-2001, occasionally served as a bodyguard for the al Qaeda leader, and sometimes picked up and delivered weapons.

"The accused is an alien unlawful enemy combatant," Allred wrote in a decision issued Wednesday and released by military authorities on Thursday.

Hamdan, who U.S. military records show is about 37, faces up to life in prison if convicted by the tribunal of conspiracy and supporting terrorism.

The judge's decision was based on two days of testimony at a hearing at the Navy base in Cuba earlier this month.

Hamdan's lawyers argued he should be treated as a prisoner of war, with more legal protections than those granted to the unlawful enemy combatants who are to be tried before the military tribunals.

The U.S. holds about 290 prisoners at Guantanamo and has said it plans to bring about 80 before the tribunals - the first to be held by the United States since the World War II era.

Why no word from CBS about members of We Are Change UK cornering Peter Power and asking him about his admission on 7/7 that he was running simulated terror attacks for an unknown ''private'' firm at the exact locations that actually were attacked on 7-7?

The chance of this happening has been calculated to be one in trillions-plus...now, a much wiser Peter Power doesn''t want to talk about it...Mum''s the word for this terrorist flunkie...Does he have a driver who can be tried at Gitmo?

robertkjjj--Guess what, oaf?--They already know and have known my IP address for quite sometime...Do you actually think I would trust a vessel of corruption like CBS to protect it?...it isn''t hidden from anyone but annoying cretins like yourself and other Busholators who see jihadists under every tree and ignore them when they stand right in front of you and lie like dogs to launch foreign wars...who support corruption...

Why don''t you ask your evil master--the animal housed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue--where the $2.3 Trillion dollars are that Rumsfeld said was missing from DoD accounts on 9-10-01?

Why don''t you ask the vile murdering creatures that you support why their own intelligence agencies discredit their lies about Iran?

If you can find an "implied threat" in my posts, please feel free to report it, you little Nazi freak!

Prinzowhales, you''re not only an arrogant as*shole, you''re also breaking the law by making implied threats against the President. You''re very close to being reported and having your IP address tracked down if you keep this cr*ap up. Don''t think CBS can''t give up your info to the Secret Service. If you really like the idea of a 3am visit by 2 guys in black suits, then keep up your rants and threats.

If they want to bring a terrorist''s driver to justice, there is always Bush''s driver. Best be careful though...might want hit him with a cruise missile and not risk precious American lives trying to take him alive...

He could have walked if he gave up OBL. Changed his name to Jones and moved to Canada.

If the Navy wants to try a terrorist, I suggest they find the inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC...He is at the very least an accessory after the fact by stonewalling an investigation and not demanding answers to obvious questions-- WHY ARE MANY OF THE ALLEGED HIJACKERS STILL ALIVE??!! for instance.

Take a stroll down memory lane and look at the ''deer in the headlights'' look of Bush at the Elementary School hiding out with the kiddies while ''America was under attack''. The Secret Service was aware of the hijackings before Bush left his motel.

The silence of the New York authorities is deafening...neither Clinton, Schumer, Giuliani nor the Governor or his Attorney General have investigated the murder of nearly 3,000 people in New York City...they have actively opposed any efforts to get at the truth. Giuliani is directly responsible for the failed communications equipment that cost so many firemen their lives. These people are outlaws and should be treated accordingly.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous.
I think this is called "reaching".
Can we get the guy that filled the car with gas?
Someone must know something about him.
How about the guy that washed the car?

Did they ever catch the guy that drove Hitler''s car?
Or Hitler''s cook?

Life in prison for driving a car. Wait until we catch the guy who cuts Bin Laden''s hair! He''ll get 4 consecutive life sentences. The guy who makes his robes will get the death penalty.

All of a sudden the idea of prosecuting a rape victim in Saudi Arabia doesn''t seem so strange.

Wow, Shrub got Bin Laden''s driver? What a huge success! Here''s what the moron has to say about Bin Laden himself:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I don''t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don''t care. It''s not that important. It''s not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02
