(CBS/AP)  The youngest brother of Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich was found dead at his home Wednesday.

Perry Kucinich, 52, was found face down by another brother, Larry, at about 9 a.m., said Powell Caesar, a spokesman for the Cuyahoga County Coroner's office.

There were no signs of foul play, Caesar said. An autopsy was being performed Wednesday to determine the cause of death.

Larry Kucinich had taken his brother shopping Tuesday and then took him home but couldn't get an answer when he tried calling him Wednesday, Caesar said.

A statement from the congressman's office said Perry Kucinich was a artist whose works have been on display at a local art gallery. The statement said Perry and Dennis Kucinish were planning another showing of his works in the spring.

"He was an admirer of the works of Klee and Picasso, and the style and structure of his artwork derived from their influences," Dennis Kucinich said in a statement. "He was a genius. He had extraordinary insights. Although he struggled with mental illness, with the help of his family and friends, he was able to lead a productive life."

Dennis Kucinich took a flight from Washington to Cleveland after learning of the death, said his office press secretary, Natalie Laber.

"He was very close to Perry and he's taking this very hard," Laber said.

Kucinich, 61, is a six-term congressman from Ohio who is making his second bid for his party's nomination; he sought the nod in 2004. He registers in low single digits in polls and has raised little money for what is considered another long-shot run. Kucinich, who is known for his liberal views, has attracted a devoted following.

A Democratic rival, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, offered his condolences to Kucinich and his family. "Barbara and I will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers," Richardson said in a statement.

Funeral services are pending, the congressman's office said. In addition to his brother Dennis, Perry is survived by brothers Frank, Gary, and Larry, and by sisters Theresa and Beth Ann.

I am so sorry for your loss [all Kucinich''s]. I delivered the paper to your home on Anson. I''ve known Perry a very long time, also Beth. He had character that is very rare. He was a wonderful and talented person. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

This is a tragedy, and I do offer my condolences to the Kucinich family. But at the same time, I hope Dennis doesn''t think a UFO was behind this...

Edwards needs to remain a senator and take care of his wife. I think he needs his wife to be sick. The sympathy alone gets him a voice. His wife might love him and support him, but their fight with her cancer shouldn''''t have been publicized. It''''s a private affair. But, I think, genuinely, that was a political strategy.

Well yes and no. If Edwards knew about his wife''s cancer and said nothing, and it came out in the public later, he would have been accused of withholding that information.

But, someone''s brother that died in his sleep, that''s different. Have some sympathy.

And if the guy needed his brother to die to get public recognition, he''s in sad shape, and needs not only to be relieved from his duties, but locked up. This is why I believe Senator Edwards needs to remain a senator and take care of his wife. I think he needs his wife to be sick. The sympathy alone gets him a voice. His wife might love him and support him, but their fight with her cancer shouldn''t have been publicized. It''s a private affair. But, I think, genuinely, that was a political strategy.

I guess this is why people like you don''t vote. Too much conspiracy theory. The brother probably just died in his sleep. I can''t stand to live in this country anymore. People don''t even TALK to you anymore. They just think they know you from looking at you the first time. I could understand conspiracy with the Clintons, and conspiracy with the Bushes. We know them. But, I haven''t even heard of this guy until his brother died. We don''t know him. Man, let his brother rest in peace.

You people are really pieces of work. You''re never happy unless you can find a conspiracy against President Bush/the GOP in ANYTHING that happens.

And they say that Hillary has no humanity. No wonder she is a hero figure to people like you.
