Teacher Who Had Sex With Teen In Court

(CBS/AP)  A former middle school teacher who pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old male student in 2004 appeared in court Tuesday.

Debra Lafave, 26, is charged with violating her probation.

Lafave struck up work-place friendship at a Tampa-area restaurant where she was waiting tables, reports CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella.

She talked about her personal life, including sex and boyfriends, with her teenaged female co-worker, according to a Department of Corrections report. It is a violation of the terms of her probation because she was not supposed to have contact with minors without permission.

The judge asked Lafave to return January 10 when the witnesses could also be there, reports CBS News affiliate WTSP-TV.

In 2005, the victim's mother pressed for a plea deal so her son wouldn't have to testify, reports Cobiella.

She apologized to the boy and to his family and said she was undergoing therapy.

Lafave is serving three years house arrest and seven years probation.

Other terms of her probation include sex offender treatment, random drug testing and 200 hours of community service, which she has completed.

Lafave's probation officer is recommending the harshest punishment possible - 15 years in prison, the sentence for her original crime.

I never did want it. I have no idea of what sighted ladies do. I did not dress the way they do. i still don''t. I have to carry ID with me as I don''t look 53. I showed my male room mate my high school photo and I looked like a 10 year old. I was treated as such . I have c/p. As well. Sure the sightrd females will do any thing for sexx.

I did say ye..I write the way I talk. In my day they would not teach a legally blind child with other handicaps. From 5 to 10 I was barred from school. I never went to grammar school never went to jr high. I was in sp ed. I was told I had to sit in class. I was a girl. I had no large print books,I was the only one with my sp needs. I was 10. I could not read,write,spell. I am aware I am educationlly handicapped . There was no ADA no computer. I was robbed of the basics yer learnt. I could never understand what teacher was teaching as I had no basics. I was pissed and hurt at the same time. In my day it was boy , boy. Education was a waste on a girl. she got married. That was why. I was a foster child. I DID NOT ASKED FOR THE SEXUAL ABUSE. I was appalled that a woman would do this. It was men years ago.

The problem is the laws are written to protect women from men but not men from women. One congresswoman from Minnesota called ALL men "predators," and passed a bill that restricts getting a wife from overseas. That is the kind of mentality we have in the US - all men are predatory.

I can speak for me as a female. No our sexxual drive is different that OF a male''s. I hated the period as that was a remainer to breed. It is the man who has the stronger drive. It is him that demand the sexxy clothes,the half dressed ladies. It is him that forces himself against our will. him.
