Walter Adler is calling Hassan Askari a hero for intervening when Adler and three friends were assaulted on a subway train in lower Manhattan on Friday night.
The altercation erupted when Adler and his friends said "Happy Chanukah" to a group yelling "Merry Christmas" on the Brooklyn-bound train.
Adler told the New York Post that one of his attackers rolled up his sleeve to display a tattoo of Jesus Christ.
"Happy Chanukah. That's when the Jews killed Jesus," the attacker told Adler.
The 20-year-old Askari, who suffered two black eyes, said he tried to fight off the 10 attackers, giving Adler a chance to summon police by pulling an emergency brake.
"I did what I thought was right," said Askari, a student at Berkeley College in Manhattan, who was allegedly punched and beaten. "I did the best that I could to help."
Eight men and two women have pleaded not guilty to assault, menacing and other charges in the case. Prosecutors have said the charges could be upgraded to hate crimes.
The Post said two of the suspects had been charged with hate crimes in the past.
"That a random Muslim kid helped some Jewish kids, that's what's positive about New York," said Adler, 23, who suffered a broken nose and a lip wound.

Next time a person (who happens to be Christian) does something news-worthy, will it read "Christian does so-and-so"? How would the editor/writer describe the Civil War: "Christians fight Christians to help free enslaved Christians and others"? How about the Arab/Israeli conflict: "Christians help Jews fight Arabs/Muslims"
CBS...why don''t you realize that evil and hatred, as well as goodness reside in PEOPLE not in demographics. SHAME ON YOU.
That guy with the tattoos wasn''t a Christian - he was an assshole.
I suppose if you already hated Christians, you wouldn''t need anything more to go on. A real Christian wouldn''t even make a statement about the Jews killing Jesus, since it was ultimately God the Father who put his Son to death. If there was a contest to see who was the dumbest, then why wouldn''t Christians hate all Italians, too? Since, it was the Romans who executed Jesus, too. Duhhh.
Too bad that antijewish/antimuslim/antiarab bias is raging in the popular Christian community these days.
I take my hat OFF to this Muslim kid though - but for his own safety from other Muslims - I suggest he lay low for a while.... otherwise we''ll be hearing about another honor killing before too long..

They are no more "Christian" than the Nazis were. Hate is hate. The scource doesn''t matter. There are posters that spew as much hate as the ones they are castigating. One is just as wrong as the other.
Only a liberal could, with a straight face, complain about stereotyping while stereotyping in the very same breath... besides, since WHEN to liberals support Israel? Liberals have allied themselves with the enemies of Israel (and the United States for that matter) in a joint effort to oust George Bush - that much is patently obvious....
Liberals - traitors to their country, enemies of Christ

Total agreement, Keep your head down Hassan, we need people like you!
Even further, since Jesus and all his deciples were Jews it makes some sense to view Christianity as a sect of Judaism.
For an enlightening read on the origins and long long sad history of antisemitism read "Constantines Sword" by James Carroll.
We heard you the first time and didn''t like it then, either.
There''''s plenty of you on this board.

Oh for god''s sake it''s ONE Muslim person vs. thousands and thousands of hate mongering, death chanting, extremists blowing each other up and attacking the WTC. Yeah, that''s all balanced now.
Let me go find one story of a German person befriending a Jew and then all is forgiven for the Holocaust I guess too? Give me a break.

The Nazis were Christians and the Holocaust was a Christian attrocity. And not the first. Almost every Crusade was accompanied by slaughters of European Jews. When the Crusaders took Jerusalem on one occasion they herded all the Jews into the Temple and burned it to the ground.
You need to acknowledge where you come from if you wish to do better.

I have already on this article. read from the beginning. Besides that, you have witnessed my posts for a long while and I have made no secret of what I stand for.

How about Schindler?

I guess I didn''t talk slooowwwwwly enough in my last post. I''m talking about a) the 21st Century and b) there were PLENTY of German sympathizers when it came to the Jews; helping them, hiding them BACK THEN. Nope, bad example and completely not getting my analogy.

It looks like the liberals that post here, as well as liberal CBS News, think that just because some guy has a Jesus tattoo that he is a Christian. I''m not surprised, just amused.
Wait - that may not have been a good comparison.
Thats the problem here, You are talking junk, and you didn''t ''read my lips'' well enough to understand that I stepped way beyond where you were talking.
Now lets back up and try this again. Extremist exist in every facet of society. when someone does good, acknowledge it, then look for more.

It doesn''t STATE that the attacker was a Christian, but it IMPLIES such (the Michael Moore technique of reporting). Obviously, a tattoo doesn''t make someone a Christian, but that doesn''t matter. CBS''s intent was to demonstrate MUSLIM=GOOD, JEWISH=GOOD, CHRISTIAN=BAAAAAD. And they''ve done a good job. Look at some of the anti-Christian posts here.

It makes an inferrance to Christianity by the Tattoo.
A lot of ''skinhead nazis'' also wear similar tattoos, and the KKK does too.
exactly my point.
To go one step farther, I am a Christian, and disavow these wannabes as as insincere.
What people need to realize, no matter what faith you are, when you kill or hurt in the name of God, all you are doing is truly cursing God.
And pleeeze, stop equating a Jesus tattoo with Christians. My girlfriend has a tattoo of a dog on her asss, but that doesn''t mean that she''s been plugged by a dog. At least not that I''m aware of.
