(CBS)  Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is getting a lot of grief for some recent paparazzi photos showing her in a bikini while on vacation with her fiancé.

Some bloggers say she looks overweight and has too much cellulite -- particularly in shots showing her from the rear. One wrote, "She needs to do some jogging. Badly."

E! News Now host Ashlan Gorse says, "People just of course wanted to scrutinize her because she is famous and wanted to call her out on it and called her fat, which wasn't fair."

Love Hewitt, who stars in the CBS drama "Ghost Whisperer," is a size two. And she isn't taking the criticism sitting down.

She's done something rather unusual for a star under the cellulite spotlight. She's spoken up.

Pacific Coast News found her browsing in a bookstore and she looked directly into the camera, saying, "People should be proud of who they are and what they look like, and not let all this silliness and judgment sort of get in the way."

On her Web site, Hewitt says, "I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image.

"A size two is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size zero doesn't make you beautiful.

"What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body.

"To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini -- put it on and stay strong."

Author, columnist and self-esteem expert Jessica Weiner told Early Show co-anchor Hannah Storm the putdowns of Love Hewitt are "mortifying, actually, and we need a reality check. She's not fat, she never will be fat at that size, and we have a really skewed sense of beauty in this country. It might be one thing to say, 'Oh, well, it's just relegated to celebrity criticism,' but when we criticize a body like that and we criticize a woman like that, we criticize our own daughters like that.

"Cellulite does not always equal being overweight. It's a genetic thing. We have to keep it in perspective. I work with girls all the time who are saying, 'If they're calling her fat, what are they gonna say about me?' "

"The problem with our daughters," Storm observed, "is that they have a real hard time distinguishing this. If people are calling Jennifer Love Hewitt fat, our daughters assume those people are right. rather than wrong."

"Exactly," agreed Weiner, who wrote, "Life Doesn't Begin Five Pounds From Now." "We have a bombardment of images for our daughters, as we all know. They see hundreds of messages a day that tell them what to eat, what to wear, what to weight, and right now I'm working with girl ... one who is 17 and considering plastic surgery that we're coaching her on. And she's looking at this saying, 'Maybe I should get liposuction, too.' "

"It's really important that moms use this as a teachable moment. They should take our conversation that we're having and bring it home to their daughters, and talk about what they see -- get a Hollywood reality check. What you see out there is airbrushed and retouched, and when you see a photo like this, and it has a cruel intention behind it, use it to talk to your daughter about how to love and appreciate her body right now. Moms have to talk about it. If they want some more tools, they can go to campaignforrealbeauty.com and get involved in the conversation with their daughters."

"And never," Storm stressed, "say to your daughter, 'Does this make me look fat?' Or, 'I feel fat today?' "

"Right," Weiner concurred. "They have to walk their talk."

Ashlan Goran''s comment is that it isn''t fair? What about the fact that it isn''t remotely true? And all of these celebrities supposedly supporting her but mentioning bad angles?
If this is Jennifer Love Hewitt at a bad angle she has absolutely zero to worry about. The woman is gorgeous by any objective means.

Jennifer is a lovely woman. I don''t care if she is a size 2 or a size 4, I have never been smaller than a size 7 in my life. And when I had starved myself to get there everyone thought I was dying! This need of society to only admire the women who have bodies like children is sick and has gone on long enough. Are all the so-called fashion designers pedophiles? Being a woman means having the curves that come with maturity, with childbirth.

JLH is one of the Hottest babes in history, Period. When she was really skinny as a teen actress she was smokin, when she filled out more in some movies she was spectacular, now that shes added a little extra later in her career, shes one of the most beautiful and *** adult women actresses around doing great in her series Ghost Whisperer.
I put her in the same category as Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Sandra Bullock, Salma Hayek, & jessica Alba for me.

I''m sure all the people who are compalining/whining that Jennifer Love Hewitt is fat are all perfect in every way. As for me I love the show, and have always enjoyed the shows/movies which she is in. I woouldn''t care if she is a size 2 or more. It''s the person who you are that makes you beautiful not the dress size.

The only men I know who think that women should have the wispy, stick-thin body of a young boy dressed in an older sister''s clothes are usually dysfunctional and feel exceedingly threatened by women as *** as Ms. Hewitt: but they populate the idea rooms of Madison Avenue. The only women who feel the same way about their image are those who are the the target of the unrelenting assault from Madison Avenue. It''s nothing more than the peddling of insecurity. Good for you Ms. Hewitt for calling it like it is. If even one young lady drops out of the insecurity market because of your stand, then you''ve done real good.

I love Jennifer Love Hewitt and I think she is hawt...but come on...whay all the surprise??
Have you watched Ghost Whisperer? The never do an *** shot. She has not been filmed below the waist in at least a year...not for very long anyway. And then there was the episode where she wore those HUGE pants that made her lower half look like the trunk of a biiig tree.
She has a big ***. Baby got back. I cannot believe this is the firstshe has heard of it. The director of GW for one must have told her "We aint gonna film that hinney, babe." Ya think?

skinny does not equal beautiful

amy winehouse is skinny and she looks like sh*t.
marilyn monroe was a size 12 and she was beautiful.

beauty is more then weight, its a combination of things. jlh might not be stick skinny, but she has a beautiful smile and face.

I have no idea if Jennifer Love Hewitt is a size two or not. Quite frankly, I don''t care. Even if she is lying about her size, so what? Last time I checked, it''s nobody''s business. As to people saying she''s wrong for feeling offended, wouldn''t you? It would certainly bother me. And I don''t buy the argument that being a celebrity means you''re not allowed to have hurt feelings. It''s called being human; feel free to give it a try sometime.

Oh yeah, I think Jennifer Love Hewitt looks great!

"A size two is not fat!" yeah so, why would Jennifer Love Hewitt make a statement like that?
Teri Hatcher is a size two, the Versace gown she wore on the cover of the May 2005 issue of In Style Magazine auctioned off at Clothes Off Our Back, was a Size: 2 (can fit a size 4) Jennifer Love Hewitt IS NOT a size two, it''s the lying that has people all in a huff about this whole thing, if she is so happy with her body why isn''t she being truthful about it.

I think she appears to be rather insecure or she wouldn''t even be upset about this. She is quoted saying "they took pictures of me from a bad angle" By responding to this she is feeding into what society is thriving on.

Again, the tags on women''s cloths are purposefully inaccurate in order to make women think they are thinner than they really are. Look it up. Anyone who knows anything about the clothing industry will tell you.

She''s not a size 2.

Jennifer has a BEAUTIFUL BODY. Who cares what size she is? Get of her case. I respect her for NOT wanting to change for the masses.

Jennifer is not fat. A size 2 fat?? Not, but look at the folks on tv making these comments. Who set them up to comment?? And why would anyone think they are right?? I agree with Jennifer, size 0 doesn''t make you beautiful. Just look at the gals who seem so proud of being skinny. Let''s face it, those at that size are in the minority. The average size for the american woman is 12-14.

===Only in America!!! Why is this news???===

It''s a big world out there. We can talk about all kinds of things. Not every discussion in the world has to be about Iraq or some other earthshaking event. Lighten up.

They say that the average woman is a size 12/14 - I''m a size 8 - sometimes a 6 and when I''m a 6 a few think I''m too skinny -- so there''s JLH who''s a size 2 and paparrazzi and other fools are saying she''s ''fat''???

No wonder so many teens have eating disorders - they''re trying to look like Paris Hilton who''s probably a size double-0.

The fact is that most men like a woman who looks like a woman and not a little girl - and I worry about the men that go after size double-0 - deep down do they like little kids??

What an idiot to even take offense at that really. Obviously she is not fat. But she seems offended anyway.
