Huckabee Says Morris Isn't Consulting For Him

By Martin Kady II

(The Politico)  Mike Huckabee says former Clinton adviser Dick Morris isn't on his payroll as a consultant, despite a Politico story detailing Morris' involvement in Huckabee's surging campaign.

Huckabee, in an interview with ABC's This Week, told host George Stephanopoulos that Morris is a former adviser and a friend, but he hasn't talked to Morris in some time.

"Dick's one of the smartest political minds in the business," Huckabee said. "Dick is not available for doing political consulting work for me. I wish he was."

Huckabee did not explicitly say his campaign advisers were not talking to Morris, and Huckabee also said he talks to a lot of reporters, and Morris is as much a member of the media these days as he is a political consultant.
