Police Say Student Tied To Truck Threatened People With Ax During Night Of Drinking

(CBS/AP)  A university student tied to a pickup and dragged to his death on a rural road had been threatening people with an ax during a night of heavy drinking at a hunting campsite, witnesses told police.

Wendell C. Sinn Jr. was jailed for investigation of second-degree murder in the death of Jerid S. Sturman-Camyn near Usk, about 45 miles north of Spokane, Pend Oreille County sheriff's deputies said.

Sturman-Camyn, 20, described as a martial arts enthusiast, lost his temper, grabbed an ax and threatened others during a drinking party at Sinn's hunting camp late Saturday, witnesses told deputies.

According to a sheriff's office statement, Sinn told a 17-year-old boy to get into the pickup and be prepared to flee.

Sinn, 45, of Newman Lake, then reportedly tied a rope to the truck's trailer hitch and to Sturman-Camyn and told the teenager to drive away. The 17-year-old apparently was unaware that he was dragging Sturman-Camyn when he drove away in fear, the sheriff's statement said.

Deputies found the pickup with Sturman-Camyn's body after the 17-year-old called to report someone was chasing him down a road with an ax and another person called and reported a body being dragged by a pickup.

There was no word early Monday whether Sinn had a lawyer to speak for him or whether the 17-year-old would face charges.

Sturman-Camyn, a civil engineering student at Eastern Washington University, had been training at a martial arts in Spokane for about eight months, The Spokesman-Review newspaper reported Monday.

He was a mixed martial arts fighters and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at EWU, according to CBS affiliate KREM-TV.

On his MySpace page, he gave his nickname as "Bubba," described himself as an enthusiast of combat sport fighting and added: "I've been known to get a little wild at times and I like to live by the motto `go big or go home!"'

EXACTLY, that is my point. People can run and probably escape OR at least be able to make an attempt to fight him off. But with a gun, someone can stand and shoot from a distance away without the person or persons knowing that they are there, before it is too late.

I think the story is part true and part lies. I think the guy who tied the drunk up wanted the kid to drag him in the truck so told the kid that the drunk was coming with an axe. Then the murderer tied the SLEEPING frat boy up to the bumper, got an axe and started running after his own truck while yelling at the kid to GO!GO!!

Because what no one is wondering is why a 45 year old man was out "camping" with a 17 year old and a college kid. Better check those stories. It think the 45 year old was a molester out in the woods with his old squeeze and the new one (the 17 year old) I think the frat boy told him the party was over and he was not going to let him drill him any more and the old man came up with this plan to off the older boy to prevent him from ever telling, to make the younger boy complicit to keep from ratting out the murder, and to get away with it by claiming self defense. Check the older boy''s clothing and butttt hole for the 45 yr. old''s ***. Check his clothes too. No one with an axe lets an old guy tie him to a bumper of a car.

Check the frat boy for date rape drugs in his system too.Something that would allow him to either be unconscious or paralyzed while he was being dragged.

On the other hand, this could be used to show the spread of evil: We may start by using and justifying tasering, torture and prison camps against minorities of some sort--but then it starts seeping across the line and we realize that condoning, excusing or ignoring evil means that in the end it comes for all of us.

Tasers, truck draggings, lychings, shootings, police beatings, etc--evil knows no color, religion, creed or party affiliation. If it okay for your enemies--be prepared--one day it will come for YOU.
