Up-and-coming singer, songwriter and pianist Vanessa Carlton is the latest artist to be featured in our Second Cup Caf?.
A few years ago, this three-time Grammy nominee was living in New York's Hell's Kitchen and working as a waitress in Lower Manhattan between performances at open mic nights in the city's clubs.
Since 2002, she has released three albums, including "Be Not Nobody," "Harmonium," and, later this year, "Heroes & Thieves." A single from her debut album, "A Thousand Miles," was certified platinum.
Carlton was mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine in 2002 as one of ten "artists to watch."
