Says Candidates Are Open To Attack If They Give Quick Reponses To Complicated Issues

(AP)  Former President Clinton said Wednesday that all the Democratic presidential candidates could be open to a "swift boat kind of ad" if they try to give quick responses to complicated issues like driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.

A day after being criticized for defending his wife, the former president tried to explain his comments linking criticism of Hillary Rodham Clinton to the swift boat campaign against John Kerry's military record in the 2004 campaign. Bill Clinton made the comparison Monday during a speech in Las Vegas.

Sen. Chris Dodd said it was "way over the top." Sen. Barack Obama said he was stunned to hear the former president make such a comparison.

At the end of a Democratic presidential debate last week, Hillary Clinton hedged when asked whether she supported a plan by her home state governor to issue licenses to illegal immigrants. Dodd, Obama and others have accused her of trying to have it both ways on the issue.

Bill Clinton said Wednesday he didn't think it was a good idea to tackle such a complicated issue by asking the candidates to answer with hand-raising. He said candidates should have enough time to give full answers.

"I thought it made all the Democrats vulnerable to a swift-boat-kind of ad in the general election," Clinton told reporters after a rally at a South Side ballroom with several hundred of his wife's supporters. The event was closed to the media.

"When you have complicated issues, you don't want to turn them into two-dimensional cartoons," he said.

CLINTON CAMP ADMITS TO PLANTING QUESTIONS
The Clinton campaign has admitted to planting questions in Iowa. They have confirmed that a campaign staffer approached a student to ask Sen. Clinton a question about global warming during a campaign stop at a biodiesel plant in Newton, Iowa, on Nov. 6. The story was first reported by Patrick Caldwell, a junior at Grinnell College and the features editor of The Scarlet and Black college newspaper. He reported that student Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff was approached by the campaign to ask a question. She told the reporter that "they wanted a question from a college student." She also said that she "noted that staffers prompted Clinton to call on her and another who had been approached before the event, although Clinton used her discretion to select questions and called on people who had not been prepped beforehand. Some of the questions asked were confusing and clearly off-message." Clinton Campaign spokesperson Mo Elleithee tells ABC News that "on this occasion a member of our staff did discuss a possible question about Sen. Clinton''s energy plan at a forum. This is not standard policy and will not be repeated again." The staffer still remains with the Clinton campaign and they would not reveal his or her name. The campaign did not comment on whether this is the only time they have planted questions among audience members.

Sen. Hillary Clinton drew criticism recently for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech in which she told a mostly black audience at a Harlem church that Republican leaders have run the House "like a plantation" and the Bush administration will go down as "one of the worst" in U.S. history. Responding to the speech, House Speaker Dennis Hastert called her remarks "a little bit over the top." "I''ve never run a plantation before. I''m not even sure of what kind of association she''s trying to make," said the speaker, a Republican from Illinois. "If she''s trying to be racist, I think that''s unfortunate, but I''m not going to comment any further on that." One of Clinton''s Republican congressional colleagues from New York, Rep. Peter King, said the Senator "should be ashamed." "It''s definitely using the race card. It definitely has racist connotations. She knows it," King said. "She knew the audience. She knew what she was trying to say, and it was wrong. And she should be ashamed." However, the host of the event where Clinton made her remarks, activist Al Sharpton, agreed with the criticism.

Senator Clinton''s political camp are blocking the release of presidential papers about discussions in the White House in the 1990s concerning the Whitewater investigation. Bruce Lindsey, a top adviser to former President Bill Clinton, issued a lengthy statement on Friday evening saying that Mr. Clinton had asked him that records related to communications with Senator Clinton be withheld, and that Mr. Clinton had asked him not to release of any presidential documents. Mrs. Clinton, in an interview with Radio Iowa on Saturday, she said she did not know what the papers would reveal, but she would nevertheless refuse to release them. "I think it''s like people think we have boxes of records in our basement and why don''t I just go and get them and hand them over," she said. "And you know my husband has never blocked a record ever. He has been the most forthcoming of all presidents." In interviews recently, lawyers and experts on presidential papers said it was unusual for a President to want a close review of documents that might have political dimensions. "Senator Clinton doesn''t have the power to override federal privacy Laws; they protect all the other people who wrote or participated in conversations," said Thomas Blanton, director of the National Security Archive. Senator Barack Obama is urging that she expedite the release of documents as quickly as possible.

On Sept. 20, CBS News (quietly) reported that Hillary Clinton''s campaign fundraiser Norman Hsu was being charged in New York with running a ponzi scheme that involved illegal campaign contributions to her presidential campaign. He was a leading money bundler for Clinton, and had actually earned the nickname, "HillRaiser" from Hillary for his efforts at collecting donations for her. Ultimately, her campaign was forced to return $850,000 in donations that were linked to Hsu. Afterwards, Clinton promised, "stricter scrutiny of donors." Hsu was actually a wanted fugitive, with an outstanding Felony Warrant, the entire time he worked for Clinton. Hsu''s ponzi scheme involved getting people to invest in what appeared to be a lucrative financial investment while at the same time getting those individuals to donate money to Hillary Clinton''s presidential campaign. Hsu was wanted in California on charges stemming from a 15-year-old Felony Theft conviction. Shouldn''t we demonize Hillary, like CBS is (clearly) attempting to demonize Ron Paul? With the full support of Senators Clinton, Obama and McCain, President Bush recently signed into Law the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, which, according to Senator Leahy (VT), will actually "encourage the President to declare Martial Law." It does so by revising the Insurrection Act, a set of Laws that limits the President''s ability to deploy troops within the United States. The Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C.331 -335) has historically, along with the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C.1385), helped to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic Law enforcement. With one cloaked swipe of his pen, Bush has now undone those prohibitions. Public Law 109-364, or the John Warner Defense Authorization Act (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the President in a private ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency," suspend Congress and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of your Governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder." President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act. In a sense, the two Laws compliment one another. One allows for torture and detention abroad of those who dissent and are stripped of their citizenship, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America. Bill and Hillary Clinton are members of the CFR(Council on Foreign Relations) just like Bush, Cheney, Giuliani, Romney, Thompson, McCain, Edwards, Obama, Biden, and Richardson(just to name a few).
The CFR has hijacked the foreign policy of both parties and their main goal is to destroy American soveriengty and our constitution leading to the formation of a North American Union with Canada and Mexico.
