- Pat Robertson Endorses Giuliani
Rudy Giuliani has worked long and hard to convince conservatives that he is worthy of their trust. Now comes word that TV preacher Pat Robertson is endorsing the former New York City mayor.
Robertson is anti-gay and anti-choice; Giuliani lived with a gay couple after his divorce and has not backed away from his belief in a woman’s right to choose abortion.
This affirms the old adage that politics creates strange bedfellows. But, we wonder if Rudy is aware of just how strange Robertson really is. After 9/11, Robertson and Jerry Falwell said part of the responsibility for the attacks belonged to gays, lesbians, the ACLU, and those who have tried to secularize America.
They apologized later, but Robertson has a penchant for saying incendiary things that expose his real beliefs…and then apologizing later. St. Matthew asked what does it profit a man if he gains the world, and loses his soul?
Experts say Rudy will benefit from the endorsement, but I wonder…at what cost?
