Clinton Promises Reinstatement Of Order Calling On Federal Agencies To Hire 100,000 People With Disabilities

(AP)  Hundreds of voters, most of whom have disabilities, attended a forum Friday to pressure presidential candidates to support their right to equality, opportunity and access.

"Those three words are really about civil rights, and that's why we're here today," said Andrew Imparto, president of the American Association of People with Disabilities. "People with disabilities have a right to be full participants in all aspects of society, and we need leadership from the top."

Sen. Hillary Clinton was the first presidential hopeful to address the day-long forum sponsored by Granite State Independent Living. She promised to reinstate her husband's executive order calling on federal agencies to hire 100,000 people with disabilities in five years and said she would get rid of federal rules that cut benefits for people with disabilities when they get jobs. She also proposed a $1,000 tax credit to offset transportation costs people with disabilities face in getting to work.

"When I am president, my White House will welcome you. Our government will be a partner with you, and new opportunities will be open to you," she said.

Sen. Joe Biden took a broader approach, arguing that the power of the presidency lies not in issuing executive orders or proposing legislation but in using the bully pulpit to remind the public about the nation's core values, including equality and dignity for all.

"Too often in our society, those of us in power, particularly this president, remain silent, and there's somehow an equation made between the worth, the capacity and the potential of someone who is wheelchair-bound ... and their self worth," he said.

Sen. Chris Dodd described his longtime support for disability rights, from co-sponsoring the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1975 to sponsoring and then fighting for years to pass the Family and Medical Leave Act, which he said was inspired by the family of a young Connecticut girl with disabilities.

He was introduced by his sister, Carolyn, a retired school teacher who is legally blind.

"These issues that are being discussed here today are personal. They reach deep into my family, they reach deep into my experience as a young adult and as a member of the United States Congress over the last quarter century," he said. "I haven't learned about them through a briefing book, quite candidly, or a meeting in my office, but through friends, acquaintances, family and my own sister."

Rep. Dennis Kucinich and former Sen. Mike Gravel also were scheduled to appear, along with former Sen. John Edwards' campaign manager. Sen. John McCain, the lone Republican to accept the invitation, planned to participate by phone.

Though Dr. Paul acknowledges flaws in both The Constitution (it included slavery) and its Bill of Rights (it doesn''t go far enough), he still thinks a comprehensive array of positions can be drawn therefrom: against gun control; for the sovereignty of States; and against foreign-policy adventures. His message draws on the noblest traditions of American decency and patriotism.

I agree with Ron Paul about the issue of illegal immigration. The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. Ron Paul has a plan: (1.) Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals. (2.) Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. Law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas. (3.) No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That''s a lot of people to reward for breaking our Laws. (4.) No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules, but taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services. (5.) End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong. (6.) Pass true immigration reform. The current system, and those proposed by ALL other candidates, is incoherent and unfair, and would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country. They Don''t call him "Doctor No" for no reason. Congressman, Paul never votes for any Bill which he feels is not authorized by The Constitution, regardless of what it is named. Noticed prices are higher lately? So have I. Inflation, which increases the price of everything you buy, be it a dozen eggs at the store, or the price you pay for gas at the pump, is caused when The Federal Reserve, a group of private banks run by unelected officials, who are not accountable to we the people, lowers the interest rate, notwithstanding the fact that the Dollar has been undergoing a major devaluation overseas, rather than increasing the interest rate like it should have done. That''s Economics 101, folks. Everything costs more in U.S. Dollars, because the Dollar is worth less. Because the Fed is allowed to print unbacked money out of thin air, and then loan it to the our government, which is then saddled with an interest obligation to pay it back, our money is becoming worth less and less each day, and our National debt to the Fed is approaching 10 trillion dollars. It gets worse. Most of our debt is owned by China (25%) and Saudi Arabia who buy our Treasury Bonds, which finances our runaway military spending overseas. This is a threat to our nation, folks. We need to stop this madness. We need to bring our troops home from overseas, and use the trillions we would then save thereby to reduce our debt, and to re-invigorate our currency. Ron Paul can win the GOP nomination. If he does, I predict a landslide victory in November of 2008. Even the oddsmakers in Vegas aren''t willing to discount his chances. Like Ron Paul, I share our Founders'' belief that in a free society each citizen must have the right to keep and bear arms. They ratified the Second Amendment knowing that this right is the guardian of every other right, and they all would be horrified by the proliferation of unconstitutional legislation that prevents Law-abiding Americans from exercising this right. Congressman, Paul has always supported the Second Amendment and these are some of the Bills he introduced in the current Congress to help restore respect for it: H.R. 1096 includes provisions repealing the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and the Federal Firearms License Reform Act of 1993, two invasive and unconstitutional Bills. H.R. 1897 would end the ban on carrying a firearm in the National Park System, restoring Americans'' ability to protect themselves in potentially hazardous situations. H.R. 3305 would allow pilots and specially assigned Law enforcement personnel to carry firearms in order to protect airline passengers, possibly preventing future 9/11-style attacks. H.R. 1146 would end our membership in the United Nations, protecting us from their attempts to tax our guns or disarm us entirely. In the past, he introduced legislation to repeal the so-called assault weapons ban before its 2004 sunset, and he has opposed all attempts to reinstate it. Congessman, Paul also recently opposed H.R. 2640, which would allow government-appointed psychiatrists to ban U.S. veterans experiencing even mild forms of PTSD.

Whatever you think Dr. Paul''s campaign is about, the main thing it has done thus far is to serve as a clearinghouse for voters like me who feel unrepresented by New World Order Fasciscts (mainstream Republicans) and their Socialist comrades in crime (mainstream Democrats). Anyone ever think that the Profit may be exactly that? What if this person is being paid to bombard the message areas in order to spread discontent and to alienate the candidate. Rodolph Giuliani''s law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani represents that Spanish company. Another Giuliani business, Giuliani Capitol Advisors was once a partner of Cintra-Zachry, and actually owned the rights to collect tolls from the Indiana and Chicago sections of the SuperCorridor before Giuliani sold that interest recently to an Australian company called Macquarie. Bracewell & Giuliani represents some of the biggest multi-national oil, utility infrastructure and financial corporations both in the U.S. and abroad. With that have come the connections that Giuliani has been able to tap into for campaign donations, essential for his Presidential bid, not only in Texas but nationwide, as he has become the consumate NWO globalist. Particularly unnerving, given Giuliani''s personal experience on 9/11, is his defense of open borders at any cost while condoning the NAFTA Superhighway Corridor and by extension the North American Union, without the consent of the U.S. Congress or the will of the American people. We should have seen it coming when Mayor Giuliani enacted Special Order 40 in 1994, ordering NYC law enforcement officers to stop checking the immigration status of suspects caught violating the Law.

Over 100 of the world''s most powerful politicians and business leaders attend the annual, invitation-only gatherings to discuss global issues and to formulate policy objectives. The hotels involved are closed-off to other guests, and to reporters. Guards are placed around the perimeter. Attendees promise to keep quiet about what they hear and say. Clinton voted for the Patriot Act and she voted for the war in Iraq, but so many Democrats are blinded by the cult of personality that they will overwhelmingly vote to put this crime family back in office. Clinton''s campaign manager compared Hillary to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. This translates as more war, more dead Americans, and a further desecration of the tattered shreds of what''s left of The. Constitution. Clinton is the ultimate elitist and represents the Democrats supposed base, the poor and downtrodden, about as much as Lindsay Lohan represents grace and dignity. She was sure to inform the likes of David Rockefeller and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands as to her presidential aspirations during her visit to last year''s Bilderberg Group conference in 2006. Sen. Hillary Clinton drew criticism recently for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech in which she told a mostly black audience at a Harlem church that Republican leaders have run the House "like a plantation" and the Bush administration will go down as "one of the worst" in U.S. history. Responding to the speech, House Speaker Dennis Hastert called her remarks "a little bit over the top." "I''ve never run a plantation before. I''m not even sure of what kind of association she''s trying to make," said the speaker, a Republican from Illinois. "If she''s trying to be racist, I think that''s unfortunate, but I''m not going to comment any further on that." One of Clinton''s Republican congressional colleagues from New York, Rep. Peter King, said the senator "should be ashamed." "It''s definitely using the race card. It definitely has racist connotations. She knows it," King said. "She knew the audience. She knew what she was trying to say, and it was wrong. And she should be ashamed." However, the host of the event where Clinton made her remarks Monday, activist Al Sharpton, agreed with the criticism.

But, according to a new book, she has a vicious temper and routinely mocks aides, calling them "children". In one private outburst, she is said to have screamed that her Republican rivals wer "evil, evil men". This remark was a surprise to many Americans as, during this election campaign, she went out of her way to call the war-wounded McCain an honorable man who had served his country with courage and decency. The dark side of the Hillary was revealed yesterday by *** Morris, his old friend and confidant to the Clintons, in Behind the Oval Office, for which he was paid a $2.5 million advance by Random House. The White House, which has been worrying for months about what the book would disclose, has taken pains to keep Morris sweet. Morris, branded by several White House aides as a traitor, betrays the Clintons left and right in the 359-page tome. On Hillary, he said, "Time and again he would derisively refer to the Whitehouse advisors as the "children who got Bill elected." She would plead for "more adults in the White House," Morris writes. The disgraced adviser presents Mrs Clinton as out of touch with the world, never reading newspapers and relying on staff to summarize for her what was happening. "Dozens of times I would mention a front-page story of great importance . . . and she had not seen them. She almost never knew what was on the nightly news."
