"CBS News RAW": President Bush chastised the Democrat-controlled Congress for failing to pass a war funding bill that did not seek to appropriate funds for extraneous social spending programs.

The balance of power shifts and new leadership takes control as the latest session convenes.

(CBS/AP)  President Bush scolded lawmakers on Tuesday, saying the Democratic-led Congress hasn't "seen a bill they could not solve without shoving a tax hike into it."

Mr. Bush, who has been criticized himself for government spending increases, chided Congress for failing to send him any appropriations bills even though the government started a new budget year on Oct. 1.

"The leadership that's on the hill now can't get that done," he said, standing outside the White House with Republican leaders.

Mr. Bush also warned Congress not to bother sending him another version of a children's health insurance bill that he will not sign. He vetoed the legislation once; the House has passed a revamped version that he does not support, and the Senate is expected to take it up soon.

"After going alone and going nowhere, Congress should instead work with the administration on a bill that puts poor children first," the president said.

Mr. Bush's appearance on the North Portico, following his meeting with House GOP leaders in the East Room, was part of a growing effort to blame Congress for a stalemate in Washington. Mr. Bush never vetoed a spending bill when Republicans controlled Congress, but he's itching to do so now to demonstrate toughness on spending.

"Congress is not getting its work done," Mr. Bush said bluntly. "We're near the end of the year, and there really isn't much to show for it."

Democrats quickly fired back.

"Contrary to the president's remarks, fighting for America's real priorities is not wasting time. That President Bush thinks differently demonstrates just how out of touch he is with reality," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said in a statement.

And House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded: "Instead of criticizing Congress, the president's time would be better spent working in a bipartisan way to end this disastrous war in Iraq, keep our promises to our veterans by providing the largest veterans' health care investment in history, and providing health care for 10 million children."

Quote

Congress is not getting its work done. We're near the end of the year, and there really isn't much to show for it.

President Bush
Mr. Bush said he would veto a potential Democratic bill that would bundle together three massive spending bills for defense matters, veterans' affairs and the labor, education and health departments. He called it a "three-bill pileup."

"It's hard to imagine a more cynical political strategy than trying to hold hostage funding for our troops in combat, and our wounded warriors, in order to extract $11 billion in additional social spending," Mr. Bush said. "I hope media reports about such a strategy are wrong, I really do."

Mr. Bush again prodded Congress to send him the basic spending bills individually after consulting with his administration.

You did notice that it said "EARNED INCOME CREDIT", correct? This credit is not given out unless there is EARNED money listed on the 1040 form. That means that those people are not just sitting around taking from the government. They are working!!

EITC is a federal income tax credit that is refunded to qualified taxpayers after their taxes have been paid. Even if you don''t have to pay any taxes on your income, you may still qualify for a refund. EITC is based on the amount of your earned income; it is set up on a sliding scale and is claimed by filing a federal income tax return. I believe the statements said to those that do not pay taxes.

On second thought, let''s not impeach him...Mr. Cheney is an atomic bomb waiting to be dropped. The thought of this man occupying the White House is beyond the pale.

Let''s just bide our time, keep him powerless, and cheer while raising the flag when he has to take a walk!

Do not send this man one more piece of legislation. Without the ability to control legislation, he has no power. He will veto anything that does not approve his going to war, continuing war, or benefiting corporate America.

We don''t want any more legislation sent back to Congress to be re-written to suit him. It''s defeatest to bicker over legislation when his cronies in the senate have the votes to uphold his veto.

Let''s either impeach him and get him out of office, or bide our time till he has to take a walk. It''s that simple.

What about this quote from Biden - just goes to show how right leaning CBS news is for not reporting this in the Dem debate!!!

Biden: %u201C%u2026And the irony is, Rudy Giuliani, probably the most under qualified person since George Bush to seek the presidency, is here - talking about any of the people here. Rudy Giuliani. I mean think about it, Rudy Giuliani, there%u2019s only three things he mentions in a sentence %u2014 a noun and a verb and 9/11 and I mean, there%u2019s nothing else. There%u2019s nothing else.%u201D

Why doesn,t congress do something with divorce laws because when parents live together there is more money that can be spent on their children, instead of making someone else pay for their childrens care.

If he is elected President, Dr. Paul''s will work to abolish the Federal Reserve System as well as the IRS, returning return our country to the Gold Standard. He believes, as I do, that our current Income Tax System is unconstitutional, because it''s is a direct tax that is not equally apportioned as the Constitution requires. Whenever taxes are raised by the federal government, it should be done as the Constitution DOES require--in an indirect way which is equally apportioned. This system would benefit all of us, creating more individual wealth, and allowing us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives. Dr. Paul will also work to abolish the Federal Reserve, a group of private banks which loans our government money that they print out of thin air, making each dollar in your pocket worth less, and increasing our National debt. The Federal Reserve is not a government agency. It is a group of private banks run by unelected officials who are not required to be accountable to we the people. Worse, our economy and our very independence as a nation is increasingly in the hands of foreign governments such as China and Saudi Arabia, which finance our runaway spending. If we don''t cut spending now, especially overseas military spending, higher taxes and economic disaster will be our future. Our guidelines for governing taxation and spending is called the Constitution. Ron Paul has ACTUALLY read it! He''s published three books on economics. Read ''em free at ronpaullibrary.org

Most Americans just don''t seem to care that our nation, along with the Constitution upon which it was founded, is being flushed-down the NWO toilet by our nations ruling elite. While Congress and the President warn and insite fear in the sheeple about the prospect of terrorism, they at the same time leave our border wide open, and fund and conduct illegal wars overseas that do nothing but encite the terrorism which their Draconian Laws like the Patriot Act and The Real ID Act pretend to protect us from. Think about it. What would you do, if someone invaded the U.S. for no reason, and took over. You''d be mad as hell, and you''d be making trips to their country in order to give a little payback. Wake up America! It''s not about protecting you from terrorism, or saving our planet from Global Warming, or any of that fear-mongering garbage the tube feeds you 24/7. It''s about feeding the military industrial complex and facilitating the ruling elite''s ability to ratchet-down control over the American people, placing us into a total control grid where they can surveille, track and control everywhere we go and everything we do. It''s the groundwork for totalitarianism. I weep for my country, and for those of you who are so distracted, dumbed-down, or outright brainwashed by mainstream media, which endlessly regurgitates scientifically-crafted streams of information aimed at keeping your eyes closed to the realities of the world around you, that you fail to recognize this. Go Ron Paul!.

You do understand That this is just the beginning, It will not stop until we are owned, body and soul by the Corporate Global behemoth called BIG BROTHER!!!
Bushy_baby and Clintoon got things started with NAFTA and now CAFTA. The EU has the other side of the Big pond moving nicely along dwn the same path and it wont be long before we have a huge merging.

Again, I disagree. I look at health care as no different then any other government provided service like the police department, the fire department or the highway department. We never recoil in some sort of terror and say how terrible it is that we have "Socialised Police protection" or that we have a "Nanny fire department". Health care is something we should expect from our government just as much as we expect them to build and maintain our highways or to provide safe airports and air traffic control.

I''m not sure what''s funnier, Letterman''s parodies of Bush or Bush''s parodies of a fiscal conservative.

Bush makes Steven Colbert look like the serious candidate. Pat Paulsen would be a better President than this pompous ***.

I disagree, because it is what it''''s supposed to be, the next step toward complete government not-for-profit health care for eveyone, regardless of income.

Dr. Paul., an OB/GYN physician, has been the national leader in preserving our Health Freedom. He feels that Americans are justifiably concerned over the government''s escalating intervention into their freedom to choose what they eat and how they take care of their health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in order to comply with standards dictated by supra-national organizations such as the UN''s World Food Code (CODEX), NAFTA, and CAFTA, has been assuming greater control over nutrients, vitamins and natural health care providers to restrict your right to choose the manner in which you manage your health and nutritional needs. He introduced the Health Freedom Protection Act, HR 2117, to ensure Americans can receive truthful health information about supplements and natural remedies. He supports the Access to Medical Treatment Act, H.R. 2717, which expands the ability of Americans to use alternative medicine and new treatments. He opposes legislation that increases the FDA''s legal powers. FDA has consistently failed to protect the public from dangerous drugs, genetically modified foods, dangerous pesticides and other chemicals in the food supply. Meanwhile they waste public funds attacking safe, healthy foods and dietary supplements. He also opposed the Homeland Security Bill, H.R. 5005, which, in section 304, authorizes the forced vaccination of American citizens against small pox. The government should never have the power to require immunizations or vaccinations.

I don''t know about you, but I''m sick of no-win pseudo-wars, like The War on Drugs and The War on Terrorism. I''m sick of undeclared wars like The War in Iraq and unnecessary and protracted police actions like the one in Korea. I''m sick of income taxes, which are unconstitutional because they are are a direct tax and are not equally apportioned as the Constitution requires. I''m sick of back door national ID cards like The Real ID Act. I''m sick of warrantless domestic spying by the Department of Homeland Insecurity and the loss of my civil liberties as a result of Draconian, fear-based Laws with oxymoronic names like The Patrot Act. I''m sick of secret offshore prisons like the one in Guantanamo, where our government tortures prisoners, who have no right to redress of grievance, or to writ of habeus corpus. I''m also sick of the Federal Reserve (a secret group of private banks) manipulation of our worthless, fiat currency. Do yourself a favor. Support the 2008 candidacy of Dr. Ron Paul for President of The United States. I believe he''s our only hope to restore peace, prosperity and freedom in this country. Presidential candidates with the integrity and the consistent track record of adherance to our Constitution that Ron Paul has demonstrated only come around once in a lifetime, if we''re lucky. The stakes are too high, and the cause of freedom is too important to let anything stand in the way of our participation in this 21st Century political revolution. Go Ron Paul!
