Suze Yalof Schwartz, Glamour magazine's executive editor at large, shows Julie Chen an array of fabulously affordable winter coats that will keep you stylish and warm.

(CBS)  Now that there's a definite chill in the air in many parts of the country, it's time to find a good coat.

And Glamour magazine (www.glamour.com) Executive Fashion Editor-at-Large Suze Yalof Schwartz on Tuesday showed The Early Show viewers some of her faves from this season.

The best part is they can all be had at great prices -- $200 or less.

Schwartz pointed out that coats aren't just outerwear to protect you from the cold winds, but statement pieces. Think about it -- you'll wear your coat often during the winter, so make sure you buy the right one for you.

This year, Schwartz says, you won't see just any black coat: There's an amazing array of choices, and coats now reflect so much of what's happening in the fashion world -- whether it's the slick, patent look or the mod retro cuts. You'll certainly find something that fits your lifestyle and overall style. (To find out more about Schwartz's style ideas, go to her blog at www.glamour.com/fashionbeauty/blogs/suze)

The looks Schwartz presented:

LOOK 1 -- TRENDY

Red patent trench from WD-NY is a great transition piece. It looks perfect paired with denim, but is chic enough to wear out at night. Patent and 3/4 sleeves are big trends this season. This is a power trench to the nth degree.

TRENCH: WD-NY, $139
SUNGLASSES: RALPH LAUREN
TIGHTS: SPANX
SHOES: STUART WEITZMAN

LOOK 2 -- MOD

Chic, mod coat from Bitten is heavy enough to keep you warm, but short enough to keep you in fashion. The price is unbelievable -- only $20. Pair it with colorful tights to bring it up a notch.

COAT: BITTEN $20
SUNGLASSES: PAUL SMITH
TIGHTS: WOLFORD
SHOES: ALDO

LOOK 3 - CLASSIC

The ultimate classic -- a herringbone wool coat with belted waist. It's the perfect look for anyone, but is especially flattering on pear shapes, because it draws attention to a small waist and hides hips. It's stunning, and sophisticated.

COAT: H&M, $99
SWEATER: ANN TAYLOR LOFT
TIGHTS: SPANX
SHOES: NINE WEST

LOOK 4 - EVENING

Everyone needs an evening coat -- we just didn't realize it. The brocade coat from Simply Vera is the most modern version at a moderate price. It's a double-breasted coat that actually works on every shape. An empire waist gives it a modern twist.

COAT: SIMPLY VERA, $102
TOP: SIMPLY VERA
TIGHTS: HUE
SHOES: NINE WEST

LOOK 5 - COZY

The ultimate coat for warmth this winter. Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you should look dowdy. This cozy coat not only keeps you warm, it's incredibly stylish.

COAT: LANDS END, $129
SWEATER: DSQUARED
SUNGLASSES: KENNETH COLE
NECKLACE: LAILA ROWE
JEANS: WILLIAM RAST
BOOTS: MICHAEL KORS

"Shoebooty" or "shabutie" is also from the movie Naked Prey (1966). It is also the name of the band that is now Coheed and Cambria.

Sorry, Early Show. In your Living segment this AM, you guys thought you may have coined a new term for a style of footwear. You''re probably not old enough to remember this but, your CBS predecessor Norman Lear''s All in The Family coined the term "shoebooty." It was used, according to Archie Bunker, as a nickname by his schoolmates referring to his wearing one shoe and one boot as a very poor child.
