(AP)  Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's plans to curb global warming are among the top reasons Americans should support her presidential bid, former President Bill Clinton told a crowd of supporters here Monday during a political rally that at times took on the tone of a rock concert.

Mr. Clinton spoke for half an hour to about 1,500 supporters and students at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg. Hundreds of volunteers, supporters and curiosity seekers packed into the school's gymnasium several hours before the former president took the stage, leading chants and cheers on top of rock 'n roll tunes.

"Fighting climate change is the greatest challenge this country has had since we mobilized for World War II," Mr. Clinton said. "If we replaced every incandescent light bulb in this country ... it would have the same effect as taking 70,000 cars off the road."

Hillary Clinton "has continued to work around the world on climate change and other issues," he said. "We don't have any margin for error. We need to get this show on the road and get America back in business again."

Mr. Clinton, who said he and his wife recently celebrated their 32nd anniversary, said he'd gladly support the New York senator's presidential bid even if the two were not married.

"I'd be here for her, and it'd have nothing to do with the fact that we've spent the last 32 years together," he said. "It's not that I dislike the other candidates. ... If you want me to say something bad about them, you can leave now."

The New York senator's expertise on military issues will also serve America well in the White House, Mr. Clinton said.

"Hillary's the only member of the Armed Services Committee running for president," Mr. Clinton said. "We cannot continue to string up deployments that are longer today then they were in World War II."

Mr. Clinton also expressed his condolences to Clemson University and the University of South Carolina for the loss of seven students in a North Carolina beach house fire over the weekend.

"We just want all the people of South Carolina to know that our hearts are with you, with this terrible, terrible fire that cost the lives of students," Mr. Clinton said. "Those things happen, but it doesn't make it any easier, and we're thinking about you."

In welcoming Mr. Clinton to his hometown of Spartanburg, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Don Fowler praised the former president.

"He's a magician. He understands. He cares. He leads," Fowler said, to loud applause. "This is the man who did it, and his wife is going to do it again."

One supporter filing into the gymnasium to get a seat in the standing-room only crowd said she wasn't sure whom to support for president.

"I haven't made up my mind entirely so I'm here to see Bill. I love him dearly," said Barbara Baco, of Spartanburg. "If they'd change the Constitution so he could run again, I would vote for him, most certainly."

The former president planned to speak later Monday at The Freedom Center, a mostly black non-denominational church in Rock Hill, campaign spokesman Zac Wright said.

The second-generation step-and-fetch for ARmand Hammer, the Communist agent of influence who was at home in Moscow with the commissars, Albert Gore, was given the Nobel Prize for being the poster boy for man caused global warming...a few decades ago, Global Cooling was the mantra...

This is the only planet in the solar system with SUVs, yet throughout the solar system, bodies are undergoing changes related to warming..poles are shrinking...It was warmer and there was more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at times prior to today--and life teemed and flourished! Plants love CO2!

Gore and the New World Order want a global carbon tax.
All they need are people dumb enough to pay it...dumb enough to fall for the scare regarding man-caused global warming...Sure there is global change--and warming--but remember, a scant few hundred years ago they were growing grain in Greenland.

Electing a mainstream Democrat is just voting for the the same Corporatists that Bill Clinton represented.
If you look at the energy scandals, the s&l scandals, and the rest of the criminality of the Washington Regime, you will see the involvement of Republicans and Democrats--they both serve the Corporatists... they both have their support.

What? Does she plan on sitting her big fat a..s..s in the ocean to ''''cool things off''''? What a load. He''''s out of his mind to think the ''''ice queen'''' he married is going to do anything but raise the cost of having to deal with government for every single person in the USA except the millions of lucky ''''undocumenteds'''' currently enjoying life courtesy of Americans working for them.

Just like Bush the Decider did anything to help middle America? He also blocked any efforts to preserve our environment - I don''t think anyone can do any worse than our illustrious President has.......gag!

Go read the article on CBS regarding Bee''s disappearing in record numbers - if you don''t believe we are killing ourselves with global warming and spraying pesticides on our crops - then you''ve been living in a box.

We''ve got to do something about our environment and stop pandering to the corporations that push for anti-global initiatives! I read somewhere once the bee''s are gone we won''t be around much longer.........

The Clintons are members of the CFR(Council on Foreign Relations) just like Obama, Edwards, Richardson, Giuliani, Romney, Thompson, and McCain.
The CFR has hijacked the foreign policy of both parties and their main goal is to destroy American soveriengty and our constitution leading to the formation of a North American Union with Canada and Mexico.
Dr. Ron Paul is NOT a member of the CFR and he is the only anti-war and pro-liberty candidate running for president.

While the Republicans have their dumb animals who support fascism from the Right, we have the Democrats with their dumb animals supporting fascism from the Left in the form of Hillary. Where else but South Carolina could we find this Circus-Circus in full display but in the Palmetto State? Yesterday it was Obama winning the hearts of the truly stupid while being backed by arms dealers and lobbyists...today we have a former Criminal-in-Chief, Bill Clinton, winning the support of more of the State''s dull dreck...maybe one day it will be their underage daughters that this animal entertains in a State office building swapping drugs for ***...or their teenage sons murdered in Mena where he, with his patron, George Herbert Walker Bush, ran a drugs, money and guns smuggling operation...Applaud this animal, fools, vote for his corruptionist wife, "Cattle Futures" Clinton...you might as well vote for Bush...

Go Hillary!!!!! Go Bill!!!!!!!

But first, bring the troops home, and work your magic toward an honorable solution for the morass over there.

Frankly I think they''re very brave to try to go back in the White House after being crucified by these neocons, every one of which hasn''t an honorable bone in their body!
