(CBS)  Sen. Barack Obama made his first appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Monday. Obama showed off his dance moves, as is customary for guests on the show.

"You're the best dancer so far of the presidential candidates," DeGeneres told Obama.

"It's a low mark," Obama replied. "But I'm pretty sure I've got better moves than Giuliani."

A Quote

I'm pretty sure I've got better moves than Giuliani.

Obama also took a few shots at a speed bag on the set to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation For The Cure. The presidential hopeful raised $800 in the fight against breast cancer by giving the bag a strong enough punch to make it swing back and forth 8 times.

Apparently, he hit the bag so hard that his watch went flying, but he quickly retrieved it.

DeGeneres asked if Obama was surprised to learn he was related to Vice President Dick Cheney.

"You know we kept it hidden. He’s the black sheep in the family," he said.

DeGeneres, who is openly gay, also asked Obama about his policy on gay marriage.

"You know what I would do is immediately set up a civil union that is equal in federal rights so that all the states, all the rights that are conferred by the states are the same for gays and lesbians, same sex couples as for any other couple," he said. "In terms of marriage, what I would do is I would say each religious denomination can make their own decision."

Gay marriage should be pretty low on this country''s priorities. Who cares? Other than the religious right & the fundamentalists? Family First, Focus On The Family, Family Rules, Single People Must Die...that whole crowd.

Obama should have waited to run for Prez. Too young. Not enough experience. All he''s doing now is spending money. Hillary is going to get the nomination. Anyone doubt that?

One year to go til the election! No more Bush/Cheney! YEE HAH! BRING IT ON, BAY-BEE!

I am reminded of a show (Carson? Douglas?)where Richard Pryor was a guest, as was a rather "medicated" Martha Mitchell.

She looked at Mr. Pryor with a look all "Black" people instantly recognize, and said "You look like you''re a very good dancer"

Without missing a beat, Mr. Pryor answered "We can all dance, ma''am".

Priceless...

Blowing a little sunshine up Ellen''s a..s..s, huh? It''s part of the committment they make when they throw their hats in the ring. But I do like Obama best of all the candidates, which isn''t saying much, since I would rather walk through fire in a gasoline suit than risk seeing Hillary elected.

Gosh it is nice to have a candidate that uses some reason, and not hysteria, to confront some of these issues. Leave the word "marriage" to the churches if they want it, but give civil unions the same federal protections that marriage has. I think everyone would then be pretty happy. Maybe not everyone, but who said you have to make everyone happy..
