(AP)  A suicide bomber on a motorbike detonated explosives in a crowded marketplace near Afghan police, killing nine people and wounding at least 29, officials said.

The blast Saturday killed two police officers and seven civilians in the city of Spin Boldak in the southern province of Kandahar near the border with Pakistan, a statement from NATO's International Security Assistance force said.

NATO evacuated 11 of the wounded victims by helicopter to an alliance-run hospital, while the rest were taken to the Spin Boldak hospital, it said.

Such attacks against Afghan police have become a trademark of Taliban suicide bombers. More than 600 police have been killed in insurgency-related violence this year, the Interior Ministry has said.

Violence has killed more than 5,200 people this year, according to an Associated Press count based on official figures, the deadliest year since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.

THE LIBERAL MAIN MEDIA AND DEMONIC-RAT BS PROPOGANDA MACHINE

The death knell of your ethics has been enabled by your parent organizations who have chosen to align themselves with political agendas. What is clear to me is that you are perpetuating the corrosive partisan politics that is destroying our country and killing our service members who are at war.

I like how the far right is always so kind as to play with gasoline.

Civil war: A war between political factions or regions within the same country.

Of course, the Taliban are Afghanis, so it couldn''t be a civil war. (?!)

These days the party in power ALWAYS uses either "rebellion" or "insurgency" to describe any activity by an opposing political group that includes the force of arms.

Should the "rebellion" or "insurgency" grow to include the secession of individual government entities, it is magically transformed into a civil war - at least, in the eyes of any outside power that has an interest in seeing the existing nation-state broken.

It is all semantics; should the existing power lose, you can bet your bottom dollar that some will call it a revolution while others will call it a civil war.

Is the phrase "the trademark of Taliban suicide bombers" a guarantee that this bombing is indeed the work of the Taliban?

I wouldn''t want to think that any group with an affiliation with Al Qaeda would have the temerity to decline our invitation to fight us in Iraq and blow themselves up elsewhere.
