Conservative Commentator Says An All-Christian America Would Be Better

(CBS)  Ann Coulter is stirring up controversy again.

The conservative commentator said this week that the nation would be better off if all Americans were Christian and that she wants "Jews to be perfected, as they say."

Appearing on the CNBC show The Big Idea, Coulter was asked to give her version of a better America. She told the show's host, Donny Deutsch, that it would look like New York City during the 2004 Republican National Convention.

Pressed for details, Coulter said, "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America ..."

"Christian ... so we should be Christian?" Deutsch interrupted. "It would be better if we were all Christian?"

Coulter answered "Yes" once, and after being asked the same question again by an obviously surprised Deutsch, answered "Yes" a second time.

When Coulter tried to shift the conversation to the diverse congregations in Christian megachurches, the show's host brought the topic back to Coulter's statements about Jews.

Media Matters, the liberal media watchdog group which is publicizing the encounter, provided this transcript:

DEUTSCH: ... we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or ...

COULTER: Yeah.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly believe that.

COULTER: Yes.

"We just want Jews to be perfected, as they say," Coulter said later in the show. "That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express."

"Candidly, I had her on not to talk about politics but to talk about her brand strategy," Deutsch later told AdWeek . "Whether you like her or not, her strategy is to be extreme and that's a way to make money. But because it's her, it drifted into politics."

"I simply asked her a question, something like, 'If the world was her way, what would it look like?' And she said something to the effect that everybody would be Christians," Deutsch told AdWeek. "I was somewhat baffled and asked if that meant there would be no Buddhists or Jews and I think her words were, 'perfected' Jews [would be OK]."

You''re right. There are many inaccuracies in the KJV... in most Western translations for that matter.

Furthermore, Jesus suffers from the logical fallacy of "guilt by association". He''s been demonized as a Gentile when everything about AUTHENTIC "Christian" worship is Jewish in origin... seeing that this needs to be a life-style.

The fact that the Jewish community, as a whole, rejects the Messiahship of Jesus, nevertheless, is no excuse. I am one of a growing number of Jews who have come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

The Rabbis have dictated that the heart of a Jew ought to remain indifferent toward the agonizing death of Jesus (Yeshua) on the cross in order to remain a Jew. That''s insane!

I also know that AUTHENTIC Christianity requires charity and respect for all men... even one''s enemies. But I would posit another position. AUTHENTIC Christianity acknowledges the Jewishness of the faith and the special place the Jewish people have in the heart of God. Jesus is King of the Jews.

All of human history is a grand experiment in man''s effort to govern himself without God. There will never be peace until we agree upon who this God is and recognize Him as KING.

Zechariah 12 talks about the final war that comes as a result of this rejection and then the complete acceptance of the King by the Jewish nation. By the way, the King is described as "He who was pierced".

I agree, the current War on Terror is about Religion, however Islam is aware of this, I do not think the West is operating with this understanding, the West views this in a National context which I think is a big mistake! Jesus also said if thine eyes offend thee pluck them out, clearly one way to deal with racism if you can not become color blind! Finally you mention Jews rejecting Jesus. I watch my Jewish friends reading their Hebrew Bible backwards and they tell me they not only reject Jesus but the King James translation of the Bible as well, citing several inaccuracies and mistranslations! See, this why Religion is so complex! When I ask my Jewish friends why they reject Jesus and don''t they need to speak to God through Jesus, they reply Jesus was just a Rabbi, we can speak to God directly, we don''t need a middle man, we are the chosen people, we have a direct connection to God. So the confusion continues! :)

The present "war on terror" is about "religion". Until the human race comes to a consensus about who God is, we will forever be at war.

There are two ways that we can come to this consensus. Either we humans willingly debate the issue rationally or we let someone impose his/her view on us whether it be objectively true or not.

Now I would not be dismissive of Ann Coulter. Though she tends to be careless in her use of words, but is, nevertheless, not entirely ignorant. For example...

1. All but 1 of the New Testament writers was Jewish.
2. Jesus was Jewish
3. The big debate in the early "Church" was "Could a Gentile like Ann Coulter become a "Christian" without first becoming a Jew? (I find the irony of the reversal of this reality over the ensuing 1800+ years utterly astonishing!)
4. There have always been throughout history, a small minority of Jewish people who''''''''''''''''ve believed in Jesus.
5. Holding open just the hypothetical possibility that Jesus is, in fact the Jewish Messiah, the overall rejection of Him by the Jewish people might just serve to confuse the rest of humanity about who the true God who created the universe (if He/she even exists) really is and what He''''''''''''''''s like. (this unwittingly supports the world view of Islam, and its concept of Sharia.)
6. Popular Jewish identity rests upon the rejection of Jesus. This is irrational.

One prayer that is commonly recited in the Synagogue is the "Oleynu" which ends with a quote from the prophet Zechariah which says of the end of days (when there is peace) "On that Day the L-rd shall be one and His Name shall be One.

This corroborates what I said... all mankind must come to agreement on who this God is.

2. I believe Ms. Coulter mistakenly used the word "Perfected" instead of the word "Completed". I am a Jew who happens to believe in Yeshua (Jesus). Knowing first hand the experience and the role that the Jewish people play in God''''s plan and in world history, I''''m convinced that faith in Yeshua is the pinnacle in the Jewish experience. If you''ve seen any of my posts you''ll note that I, and I think Ann Coulter, want continued dialog on that subject.

One of the reasons that I believe that we live in the greatest country in the world is that each of us has the freedom to be wrong. If you were to go to a Muslim country, they don''t even give people the freedom to be right!

Everyone ought to have the right to express his/her opinion as long as it doesn''t foment violence. But part of the expression of that opinion just might be telling the other person that they think their opinion is wrong.

If a person were to say "everyone''s opinion is wrong except mine", to be honest with you, that''s just another opinion.

If a person were to say "everyone who disagrees with me ought to be shot", THEN, I THINK, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY THAT THAT PERSON''S INTOLLERANT.

To be honest with you, anyone who were to pull the first statement out of context and say that that person is intolerant, is the one who''s intolerant.

There are many Religions in the United States, many of whom would find her remarks indirectly offensive. Many find President Bush''s introduction of Religion into Politics and the power of the Conservative Christian Religious Right offensive especially using Public Funds to finance Religious agendas violating the separation between Church and State. People need to seek Religion out on their own. Most people grow up with Religion passed down from their families and stay with that Religion throughout their lifetime, some convert to other Religions later in life due to marriage. A friend of mine once took a Religious course in college and I was so fascinated by it I ended up taking it with them although I didn''t get any credit for it, but there was a video we watched together, a part of the course, that was very interesting. In this video there was this big round table discussion, every religion was represented, including voodoo!, all the Religions had their say, put forth their doctrines, agendas and it was amazing. I know for a fact that if many people watched that video they would come away seeking a different religion than what they practice now from their families. People rarely have a choice, they just go with what was passed down to them. For the record I was baptized by my family as a Christian but I find other Religions interesting too.

Actually Americans would be better off if people like Ann Coulter would just shut up, mind her own business about an Americans choice of religion and let Americans express their Constitutional rights of freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of religion! The United States is a Multi-Cultural, Multi-Religious nation and for that reason alone should also implement and maintain a strict separation between State and Church. Every religion thinks their religion is the best, every religion thinks people chose the wrong religion if theirs was not selected, every religion has a right to think whatever it wants, but no religion has a right to force their beliefs on anyone or shove their agenda down any Americans throats! Escaping religious persecution is one of the main building blocks that created the United States of America in the first place!

Ann Coulter is being persecuted for Jesus'' sake and so she is blessed. She expressed what Christianity believes albeit not as well as she might have. But no matter how well it could have been articulated, the mainstream media would still have misconstrued her remarks to be anti-semitic, bigoted, etc. since Christians are the politically correct group to hate. It will only increase as we continue to allow politicians to take away free speech, create "hate crimes" and "hate speech" laws, etc. All of this is simply setting the stage for persecution to become rampant in this country. It probably needs to happen anyway since many professing Christians still continue in their sinful ways and do not read or know their Bibles. The good news is that God, through the substitutionary atoning death of Yeshua on the cross has provided the way for you to have forgiveness of your sins and eternal life after death. The bad news, however, has to, in reality precede the good news. The bad news is that you are a sinner.

The Bible says "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". I mentioned, in an earlier posting, that the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur testifies to the reality that this phenomenon of sin is universal but that God had prescribed away of dealing with it... repentance and a substitutionary atonement. After the destruction of the 2nd Temple in 70 AD, Rabbi Yochanon Ben Zakai attempted to create a formula for dealing with this sin but without the sacrifice since he perceived that the sacrifice was no longer available.

The fact of the matter was that the sacrifice WAS available! The Messiah Yeshua was that sacrifice.

Isaiah 53 tells of the Messiah "When he shall make his soul an offering for sin then shall my servant justify the many".

The trouble is that in the Chumash, the Book that delineates the passages of scripture that is to be read during the calendar year, Isa 53 is ommited.
