- Street Gangs Get Web-Savvy
Since 2005, law enforcement authorities have arrested more than 7,500 gang members through a federally led strategy of enforcing immigration laws to get violent gang members off the street.
"Violent foreign-born gang members and their associates have more than worn out their welcome, and to them I have one message: good riddance," said Julie Myers, assistant secretary of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Of those arrested in the three-month sting, 1,053 are in the country illegally.
The nationwide anti-gang initiative, called "Operation Community Shield," has resulted in 2,444 criminal charges and 5,211 immigration-related charges, according to ICE. Agents seized 287 firearms and arrested 107 gang leaders across 19 states.
Arrests in Arizona totaled 47, including 15 suspects allegedly associated with a street gang based in Beaver Dam and nearby Mesquite, Nev. called the Rebels 13.
One of those nabbed was the Rebels 13 leader, who federal officials said is facing charges for being "a prior deported aggravated felon."
Number of arrests made by jurisdiction since July 1, according to the Homeland Security Department:

- Most illegals don''t want citizenship here. Most of their money goes back south anyway.
The gangbangers are a bunch of cowards. Can''t stand alone so they hide behind the face of the gang.

- Here is an idea that will work.
1.Strictly enforce a standard living wage relevant to the cost of living in the area, with stiff fines and jail for employers who violate it. allow no judges'' discretion in this matter, it only encourages bribery.
This will create meaningful jobs that unemployed Americans will be able to afford to work.
2. Impose fines on the employer of $250,000, and minimum 2 years jail per person for each illegal alien caught working without a valid permit, or any American receiving less than the standard living wage.
Then sit back and watch the US unemployment rate drop, the economy will improve, and as opportunities for illegals disappear, they will go back of their own volition.
The draconian and frankly idiotic, hate based approach of many of the posters here will not solve anything, only create more problems as the illegals respond to the hatred they receive, by forming even more gangs, to band together for group protection. - Reply to this comment

- Kick them out, kick them all out. One at a time if need be, we can do it. The best way to start is to go after the employers, hard. Make sure no benefits are available - no drivers license, no social security, no nothing other than emergency medical treatment for real emergencies.

First of all INS isn''t even interested unless the report involves 10 or more at a time...at least not here. The police and courts are powerless unless INS takes them. INS isn''t into small numbers. Secondly, call any fast food restaurant and ask the manager why he''s got a staff of illegals and he will tell you, ''they all have social security numbers.'' Now, employers all have access to on line databases that verify and validate social security numbers and will kick out any that do not mesh...but employers in the fast food business looking to spend as little on payroll as possible won''t use them. When these employers are forced to pay hefty fines for not validating every social security number on their payroll, maybe then the jobs for illegals will dry up. Until then...don''t hold your breath. - Reply to this comment

- How hard is it to bring in gang members they ware colors will rat each other other out and are a disease that should be irradicated looking at the numbers it was tip of the iceberg and solved nothing but to get a little PR and thier fellows will fill the gaps so nothing has changed should bring in several 100''s not just a few that will make no difference, There becoming the domestic enemy and should be abolished they''ve been talking about doing something for 30 years and little has been done it''s time to quite talking and start doing. Had a friend in a gang when he was younger he said is was either be a victum or victomizer he''s in prison and deserves to be it''s time to clean up the streets.

- I hear you all about illegal aliens, but you know, I think MOST are good people. I think we should offer them the opportunity to work here, but only after they obtain a visa at the border,ON THEIR WAY IN. Weed out the bad ones, control who is in and for how long, and where they go. If you are caught without a visa - you are out for good! Then, offer citizenship to those that are hard working good people, that want to learn english, that want to strengthen the ties with Mexico and the US.
If we did, you''d have to get out of the way for the stampeed headed out of the country going south! - Reply to this comment

- And yet, most places, the feds and other laws won''t let our police check to see if a criminal is an illegal. It''s actually not allowed for them to report or even look. Insane!

- John McCain,
Where are you? Are you listening to this.
The guy who says that violent ILLEGALS should immediately be put to death if they try to return to American soil is 100% right.
So where are you?
Oh, with Hillary, Osama, oops Boy Obama, Bill Richardson and the rest of the ILLEGAL panderers. - Reply to this comment

- We need a new amendment to our constitution that says if you are found back in the US after being deported for a violent crime, it is a manditory death sentence, to be executed within ten days. NO APPEAL.
