(WebMD)  Menopausal symptoms dim the sex lives of many women, according to a new online survey.

Murray Freedman, M.D., and colleagues from the Medical College of Georgia evaluated the survey, which was conducted by Harris Interactive in late June and early July. They presented their findings yesterday in Dallas at the North American Menopause Society.

More than 1,000 women aged 35 and older completed the survey. The women indicated that they were nearing menopause, currently going through menopause, or were postmenopausal.

Most of the women -- 81 percent -- reported menopausal symptoms. Nearly 60 percent of those women noted vaginal symptoms (vaginal dryness, pain during sex, vaginal narrowing, or vaginal shrinkage) or increased urinary tract infections.

Among women reporting vaginal narrowing or vaginal shrinkage (known medically as vaginal atrophy),88 percent indicated that they found that symptom to be "at least somewhat problematic," 78 percent said it affected their sex life, and 47 percent said they had stopped or avoided sex because of physical discomfort.

The study was funded by the menopause education group Red Hot Mamas and Duramed Pharmaceuticals, which makes the estrogen drug Enjuvia for menopausal symptoms.

What does one expect when menopause hits, and the woman is already on blood pressure, cholesterol, and arthritis pain medications, and probably another five or six medications for various other problems, all with lowered libido listed in the side affects. And as for those older guys with the young chicks on their arms, *** is the last thing passing between them. The first thing is money!

Okay, so...what do you suppose it means when a young woman receives tamoxifen and she most likely will be thrown into early menopause?

I was 37 when I went thru the change of life. A classmate who never got her period felt left out. We all but got that rite of passage. They left out the drying of after the periods stop for good.

Is this the reason why older men go after young women in their prime?
