(AP)  Owen Wilson has returned to the public eye, making an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, "The Darjeeling Limited."

Sporting a shaggy blond beard and wearing a dark jacket, Wilson was joined by cast mates Adrien Brody, Anjelica Huston, Jason Schwartzman and filmmaker Wes Anderson. It was among Wilson's first public appearances since an apparent suicide attempt in late August.

The premiere was held Thursday night at the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "The Darjeeling Limited," now in theaters, is the story of three brothers who journey by train through India.

Before the movie started, Anderson introduced Wilson, his longtime friend and collaborator, saying, "I've never made a movie without him and I hope I never have to."

Anderson and Wilson have worked together on several films, including "Bottle Rocket," "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," for which they were nominated for a best screenplay Oscar.

Life hasn't been all laughs for Wilson the past couple of months.

On Aug. 26, the 38-year-old actor was taken by ambulance to a hospital on after police responded to a call about a suicide attempt at his Santa Monica home. The day after he was hospitalized, he issued a statement asking for privacy so he could "receive care and heal."

During the unfortunate incident, Wilson dropped out of the upcoming ensemble comedy "Tropic Thunder," a DreamWorks production.

The decision was characterized as a mutual agreement between director Ben Stiller and Wilson.

Wilson has also starred in "You, Me and Dupree," "Wedding Crashers" and "Starsky & Hutch."

Hey Owen - why not put out feelers to Tiny Tom Cruise and the $cientology whacks at the ''celebrity centre''...let them know you''ve got a couple mill in the bank and are looking for solace and healing from your near-death trip.

Those ******** are SURE to come to your aid if your bank account story checks out...they''ll bring over their cans-on-two-strings and their vitamins...but I''m afraid the mojitos before dinner will have to go.

Who knows ? Maybe the writings of L. Ron Hubbard will cheer you up - he was a pill-poppin'' rumhead himself...you might like his ***!

nexgen99 - good points. Too many real people struggle and fail.

I wish him a good recovery, but at least he can afford the health insurance and have the ability to retire on the stop if he really wanted to find himself. Does he know how lucky he truly is?

Oh Owen, it must be really tough with all those millions. I feel so sorry for you Hollywood low life''s. pity pity pity. If you''re so troubled why not donate all that money that seems to make you so unhappy to someone else, like ME for instance.

I''ll even promise to pay for your funeral when you go off the deep end again. But hopefully once you free yourself of that evil money you''ll have a happy life thereafter.
