Suspect Arrested In Child Sex Tape Case

Cops: Darrin Tuck Had Tape Of 3-Year-Old For 5 Months, Man On Tape Still At Large

(AP)  A man accused of holding and showing off a tape depicting the sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl was taken into custody Sunday, authorities said.

Darrin Tuck, 26, arranged to surrender after evading arrest since Friday, said Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo. Prosecutors are set to charge Tuck with possession of child pornography and possibly promoting child pornography on Monday, DeMeo said.

Tuck has told authorities he found the tape in the desert, but authorities said he possessed it for as long as five months before turning it in.

The girl in the tape was located after authorities on Friday released information they would not normally disclose in order to get tips from the public, including a picture, DeMeo said. The widespread media attention led someone to call the girl's mother, who contacted police but did not know about the assault, authorities said.

Tuck's defense lawyer, Harry Kuehn of Gibson & Kuehn in Pahrump, said he was unaware his client had surrendered, but noted it was "a good thing." He also denied that his client had showed the video to others.

"The sheriff's office has exaggerated the extent of their evidence and seriously jeopardized our client's chance of a fair trial," Kuehn said.

The videotape was made at a Las Vegas residence that did not belong to the girl's family, officials said, though her mother recognized furniture seen in still images of the tape.

Authorities are still searching for Chester "Chet" Arthur Stiles, 34, who is suspected of sexually abusing the girl.

Stiles also is wanted on an unrelated state warrant issued last year charging lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age and on a federal fugitive warrant.

The Associated Press is no longer identifying or releasing photos of the girl because she is a suspected victim of sexual abuse. It did so earlier in the interest of her safe recovery.

I agree about putting child molesters or killers in special units. They do not deserve protection. Oh wait, if they are not protected then some psychiatrist of psychologist cannot say they are cured and get them released on parole. So they can do it again. It has already been proven a child molester cannot be cured.

I agree, the tape itself hurt no one, if he found it he should simply have left it where it was or destroyed it, by coming forth he did nothing but get himself burned. "posession of child porn" is a BS feel-good charge. Remember; the police and Govt are NOT your friends, they are your enemies there to control you and extract as much of your paycheck as they can.
Do not talk to either, do not say anything to either, provide no information to either, cooperate only as required and remember again, the police are not there to be your friend or help you, and every thing you say WILL be used against you so the best bet is shutup and say nothing and do not take evidence of anything like this tape to the police, ever.

Well...she (the mother) recognised the ''''furniture'''' on the tape, which was what...the sheets and bed? She knows this Chester person, and maybe even subjected her to it by letting him "babysit" the girl....fu(ked up - the girl needs to be placed with someone who will care for her properly.

I have a little girl and I can guarantee you, I KNOW where she is, who''''s she''''s with and even at the age of 3, she would have told me what went on if it was something she was out of her element by any means.

No kids are not stupid, but they can be frightened into being quiet about the abuse. I found out several years after I divorced an a$$hole that he had abused my little girls. I only found out then because my older daughter was finally able to tell my mom. We got them both into counseling immediately, and they are now two of the best mommies I have ever seen.

All of the abuse took place while I was at work. He was their stepfather, not their real father. I thought my dad was going to kill the bassstard when he found out. It took a lot to kep my dad from doing so and going to jail. That was his baby girls that man messed with. They are still his baby girls... at 33 and 32 years old.

Well, there must have been signs...that little girl''''s *** must have ripped after being raped. She would have cried when urinating. They need to quit putting these creeps in special units when they are convicted. Put them in the general population, in prison child molesters don''t last long. Let nature take it''s course. I did not know until my daughter was 18 that she was abused. My husband and I would leave my children off with my in-laws and my father-in-law abused my daughter! I was shocked to hear of this because we only used grandparents as babysitters due to wanting our children to be safe... You never know who wants to abuse and harm children even in your own family...
My daughter still has many problems due to this. My husband died prior to ever knowing this. I am sure it would have broken his heart for he admired his father and was devoted to his children.

Well, I don''t know about knowing where you child is 24/7 at any age. I think we need to wait and see the circumstances of the abuse before we judge the mother. She could have left the little girl at a sitters, or at day care, or a family member may have been watching her. I think we are awfully quick to judge in our society. Just stop and think how many times when your kids were little did you leave them with someone that you trusted. Not everyone that you think you can trust is trustworth.
The mother very well may have some culpibility, but we certainly don''t know that at this point.
All those kids being abused by priests, I would hardly blame the parents, other than to say, don''t get lazy about who you trust.
