(AP)  Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani compared the scrutiny of his personal life marked by three marriages to the biblical story of how Jesus dealt with an adulterous woman.

In an interview posted online Friday, Giuliani was questioned about his family and told the Christian Broadcasting Network, “I think there are some people that are very judgmental.”

Giuliani has a daughter who indicated support for Democrat Barack Obama and a son who said he didn't speak to his father for some time. Giuliani's messy divorce from their mother, Donna Hanover, was waged publicly while Giuliani was mayor of New York.

“I'm guided very, very often about, `Don't judge others, lest you be judged,”' Giuliani told CBN interviewer David Brody. “I'm guided a lot by the story of the woman that was going to be stoned, and Jesus put the stones down and said, 'He that hasn't sinned, cast the first stone,' and everybody disappeared.

“It seems like nowadays in America, we have people that think they could've passed that test,” he said. “And I don't think anybody could've passed that test but Jesus.”

In the New Testament story, related in the Gospel of John, Jesus does not actually hold stones. The Pharisees bring Jesus a woman charged with adultery, reminding him the punishment for adultery is stoning. They are testing Jesus in an effort to charge him with breaking the law.

The Gospel reads: “But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, 'Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.'

“... And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders.”

Giuliani has insisted his family relationships are private. In 1968, he married his cousin, Regina Peruggi. They divorced 14 years later, and Giuliani obtained an annulment from the Catholic Church on the grounds that as second cousins, they should have received a dispensation to marry.

Giuliani married Hanover in 1984 and they divorced in 2002. He has been married to Judith Nathan since 2003.

Likewise, he says his faith is private, although he evokes his Catholic upbringing on the campaign trail.

He told CBN he believes in God and prays to Jesus for guidance and help.

“I have very, very strong views on religion that come about from having wanted to be a priest when I was younger, having studied theology for four years in college,” he said. “It's an area I know really, really well academically.

“... And my personal view of it is I need God's help for everything, and I probably feel that the most when I'm in crisis and under pressure, like Sept. 11, when I was dealing with prostate cancer, or (when) I'm trying to explain death to people, which unfortunately I've had to do so often.

“So it's a very, very important part of my life,” he said. “But I think in a democracy and in a government like ours, my religion is my way of looking at God, and other people have other ways of doing it, and some people don't believe in God. I think that's unfortunate. I think their life would be a lot fuller if they did, but they have that right.”

Giuliani also addressed a cell phone call he took from his wife, Judith, last week during his speech to the National Rifle Association, an important appearance because Giuliani clashed with the group when he argued for tougher gun control as mayor of New York.

“And quite honestly, since Sept. 11, most of the time when we get on a plane, we talk to each other and just reaffirm the fact that we love each other,” he said.

“Sometimes if I'm in the middle of a very, very sensitive meeting, I don't take the call right then; I wait. But I thought it would be kind of nice if I took it at that point, and I'd done that before in engagements, and I didn't realize it would create any kind of controversy,” he said.

Rudy G, you''re contrived phone call in front of the NRA was LAME! And if it wasn''t planned, then it was really RUDE! So, in either case, it was a stupid thing to do.

With your dubious past, I say you haven''t got a snowball''s chance of becoming president.

"I''m guided very, very often about, ''Don''t judge others, lest you be judged,''" Giuliani told CBN interviewer David Brody.

Not often enough.

During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Rudy Giuliani claimed that veteran stock trader Richard Wigton, of Kidder, Peabody & Co. was guilty of insider trading. In February, 1987, he had officers handcuff Wigton and march him through the company''s trading floor, with Wigton in tears. Giuliani had his agents arrest Tim Tabor, a young arbitrageur and former colleague of Wigton, so late that he had to stay overnight in jail before posting bond.

However, in three months, charges were dropped against Wigton and Tabor.

On that ocasion, Giuliani said, "We''re not going to go to trial. We''re just the tip of the iceberg." CNN correspondent Allan Chernoff said, "There was no iceberg."

However, their careers as financial analysts and traders were ruined.

Hey, Gudy Riuliani. Matthew 7:1 about not judging was spoken TO a hypocrite (Matthew 7:5). The Lord Jesus Christ said elsewhere to judge righteously (John 7:24). It is a natural reaction to flee from a tyrant. Is this why your family flees from you? Ron Paul has been married for over 50 years and his family supports him. Vote Ron Paul for President.

Aa depicted in the documentary "Giuliani Time," Parkinson''s patient John Hynes called Giuliani''s weekly radio show to complain about being cut off from Medicaid after paying more than $100,000 of taxes in his life, before he was disabled with Parkinson''s. Hynes accused the administration of repeatedly opening fraud investigations on him, then dropping the case for lack of evidence only to re-open it. Hynes told Giuliani, "The biggest thing you could do to reduce crime would be to resign, sir. Crime would drop like a rock if you resigned. You''re the biggest criminal in the city."

Giuliani responded, "What kind of little hole are you in there, John? It sounds like you are in a little hole. JOHN! Are you okay there? You''re breathing funny."

Hynes replied: "No, I''m not okay. I''m sick, and you cut me off my food stamps and Medicaid several times; but I suppose you don''t give a *** about that either."

Giuliani replied, "There''s something really wrong with you there, John. I can hear it in your voice... Now, why don''t you stay on the line. We''ll take your name and your number and we''ll send you psychiatric help, ''cause you seriously need it."

After Hynes hung up, Giuliani continued, "Man! Look, it''s a big city, and you get some real weirdos who hang out in this city..."

[Same source as previous]

Hynes said, "Mr. Giuliani showed a total lack of respect for all disabled people when he mocked me after I revealed that I was sick."[122]

The story of John 8 is maligned in the NIV and the Catholic bibles. Gudy Riuliani said he knows theology very well. Ha, ha, but he can''t read John 8 very well. The woman was taken in adultery IN THE VERY ACT. Where was the man? This was a setup and Jesus Christ was directing his comment to the Pharisees in their conspiratorial blackmail. Rudy, you are a Bible ignoramious!

Giuliani is a pandering, ill-informed hypocrite.

The good news is he''s so transparantly phoney that he will get thrashed if the GOP is dumb enough to nominate him.

dutchfarmer,

He knows Catholicism very well too. That''s why he''s been divorced so often.

I wonder if the Vatican will go after him like they did Kerry or turn the other cheek like they did with Kennedy when he divorced.

"In the New Testament story, related in the Gospel of John, Jesus does not actually hold stones [contrary to what Rudy Giuliani said - "Jesus put the stones down."]

No, Jesus was writing something on the ground. No knows what He was writing. Perhaps it was, "2,000 years from now a phony New York adulterer will be throwing stones at sweet Hillary Clinton."

By the way, dutchfarmer is right, this episode in the Gospel of John is regarded by most modern scholars as a later addition, a fabrication. Anyone reading it, knows it sounds way too good to be true.

On August 9, 2007, Rudy Giuliani said, "I was at Ground Zero as often, if not more, than most workers...."

In more ways than one.

He netted $11 million in 2006, in book income and in speaking fees, usually on the September 11 theme.

Such religious sincerity from a politician. Hell, if religious leaders can be have affairs (straight and gay), use drugs, and extort money from their followers, what makes me think that a politician is any better?

I love it when politicians are so "candid" during "Christian" interviews. It''s so very touching. And fortunately, Rudy can tell us about his religious beliefs since his actions bear no relationship -- how would we ever know? Wise up, Rudy -- at best, you are going to full .0001% of the electorate, not enough to overcome the crushing landslide defeat on your horizon.

If Americans don%u2019t wake up their will be nothing left, our Nation is broke and Wall Street is the only people making a profit. While the Hidden inflation tax continues to rise and the value of the dollar declines. Ron Paul is the only one who truely understands this, and honestly if he is not elected America should be prepared for a real economic depression like it has never seen before.

Unless you want a North American Union and a new currency the "Amero" split with Canada and Mexico. And lose all your rights and freedom. Vote For Ron Paul 2008!

So my advice is to bypass the media and spread the word to your family and friends about him. The power of the People is far greater than a campaign spending 10''s of million to buy an image. Because this man is a real American Hero. He has dedicated his life to this country and everyone in it, and now he is trying to save it from disaster.

Spread The Word! Go Ron Paul 2008!

Must be that all these slick statements from most of the ''08 candidates hired the whole pile of "Fibology" graduates from our modern college campuses. Anybody can explain away a voting, marital, lawsuit record with the right spinmeister on the payroll. I prefer someone that doesn''t need to explain away these kind of things.......Ron Paul, the unsocialist in ''08!

Rudy Giuliani should not have to apologize for his love of women, its part of his Italian culture, Italians have always been ahead of the game and more advanced in their knowledge of love and s.e.x. than other cultures. Its not a knock or put down, its true, Italians are very advanced in this area and always were. One only need to research love and s.e.x. during the Roman Empire for proof!

I laughed and laughed at red164''s comments. Classic! Rudy or Judy or Gudy Riuliani admits his hypocrisy because that warning against judging was directed to a hypocrite (Matt. 7:5). Jesus Christ commanded to judge righteously (John 7:24) and Paul said that spiritual people judge all things (1 Cor. 2:15). Vote Ron Paul for President.
