(AP)  A young girl who was seen being sexually assaulted in a homemade videotape has been found and is safe with family members and sheriff's officials, an investigator said Friday.

“We found the victim. She's safe,” Nye County sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz told The Associated Press.

Widespread media accounts of the case led to the crucial tip that helped find the girl, Boruchowitz said. He did not provide details of her identity, where she lives or how she was located.

Earlier in the day, authorities put the name “Madison” to the haunting face of the young girl authorities believe was 4 or 5 years old when she was raped and sexually assaulted in the video.

Authorities upgraded fugitive Chester Arthur Stiles from a “person of interest" to a suspect in the sexual assault. Stiles, 37, whose last known address was Las Vegas, is also wanted on an unrelated state warrant on a charge of lewdness with a minor younger than 14 and a federal charge of being a fugitive, said Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo.

DeMeo says the girl was found safe today with her mother. He says authorities believe the mother had no knowledge of the abuse her daughter had endured. DeMeo says the mother recognized furniture in the video.

Sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz says Stiles relationship to the girl's family is "on a several-tier friend connection." He would not elaborate.

The girl's now 7 years old. DeMeo says she seems like a happy, healthy child.

Investigators determined that the video of the attack was recorded over the video of an 11-year-old girl taped in October 2005 through a window of a Pahrump home, DeMeo said.

Officials identified that girl, now 13, after releasing photos taken from the video and matched to records of a “peeping Tom” report at her home. No one was found outside the girl's home when deputies arrived, and the girl wasn't assaulted, authorities said.

A 26-year-old Pahrump man, Darren Tuck, surrendered the tape to Nye County sheriff's investigators Sept. 8 after another man reported seeing it, Boruchowitz said.

Tuck was arrested on charges of promoting child pornography and possession of child pornography, both felonies, and released without bail pending an appearance Nov. 26 in Pahrump Justice Court. The top charge carries a possible sentence of up to life in prison.

Tuck told detectives he found the videotape in the desert outside Pahrump more than five months ago. Investigators don't think Tuck made the tape, Boruchowitz said.

Tuck's lawyer, Thomas Gibson of Pahrump, has characterized Tuck as an innocent middleman who should be credited for giving the tape to authorities.

After this animal is convicted and sentenced -hopefully to death- he and the ACLU will probably say that any punishment given will be "cruel and unusual." Too bad he didn''t do it under Sadam"s reign. His Family Jewels would probably be stuffed down his throat.

And it''s also at least 2 years since the video was made. If he''s a fugitive, he''s probably lost weight and changed his appearance.

The guy in the pic did look a slight bit heavier, but most people do in videos and television. If you look real close in his eyes, he almost looked a little stoned. Possibly on some type of drug to do his dirty work. What a loser. If that was my daughter, so help me God, id shoot his nutz off in court and set them on the judge''s bench.

THANK-YOU god we NEEDED that amen...Though I''m very curious about this mother..Where the heck is the child welfare department she wasn''t reported missing that child doen''t need to be there they obviously didn''t take care of her. A pedifile gets no bail child is at the faimily where she got farmed out no word on mom if they found the child they should know where the mother is if shes with family members has mom run or trying the drug rehab angle. There is way to many wierd pieces here.

why don''t you ask "where is the FATHER?"
tons of social problems wouldn''t happen in the first place if fathers stood up and did what they should.

Millstone club: "better a millstone be hung around his neck and he be drown in the depth of the sea, than that he should OFFEND one of these little ones".
that goes for perverts. maybe it should go for fathers who leave their kids like kittens on the doorstep of the mothers to fend for themselves. who knows what happened in this situation, but FATHERS need to be held accountable!

I am so happy they found her safe. Where was the family when all of this happened? Why did they leave her in the care of this man? Please be sure the family wasn''t part of this before you assume she is safe with them. This is something she will have to deal with the rest of her life. Please find this monster and remove his parts so he may never do this to anyone ever again.

Last night when I first read about this little girl I was so heartbroke. I cried for nearly two hours, couldn''t sleep and was sick the next day! I prayed for her and other victims out there who have been hurt and are being hurt right now that we don''t even know about. This happens all over the world and should NEVER happen! I want answers as to how this was allowed to happen either knowingly or not! I don''t even know where to begin to tell you how this affected me last night. To think this could ever happen to one of my children just kills me inside! Anyone who survives child abuse, sexual and physical, lives with it FOREVER! It murders there spirit and their innocence. Do I even have to say what kind of punishment I would suggest? I think you all know and would agree. Thank God she has been found. Do not forget the anger you felt when this story was released. Much tougher penalties need to be accepted in our country to stop horrible crimes. Please make it your issue to see that criminals get the justice they deserve. Children are precious and sacred. We were all children once but sometimes we forget don''t we?

THANK YOU GOD! I only hope that when this little girl''s attacker is identified and tried in the courts that he will receive the death penalty or life in prison at the least where the inmates will give him his rightful punishment. I only hope he doesn''t plead insanity, agression from being sexually abused himself, etc. I don''t care WHAT your childhood was like or what the psychiatrists his defense will hire says, being abused doesn''t give you the right to abuse.

People are jumping to conclusions that this child was abducted; nothing has been said about her being a missing child. Also, lets get the facts folks before we start accusing her parents of misconduct. Until we know, we need to reserve judgment on them. The story says she is with family members and sheriff''s officials; it doesn''t say the family members are her parents. It could be grandparents, aunts, etc. We''ll get the details as they are released by police. But the main thing is this little angel is safe and this pedophile will not hurt her anymore.

Thank God and the tipster!!! There''s nothing more EVIL that a person can do in this world than to offend a child like that. I would kill myself gladly before I would let myself do anything like this. It''s way past time for swift executions to these animals! Wait,....even animals don''t do this kind of thing. I do not believe that someone who does this stuff is crazy as he videotaped it. He''s just plain EVIL! How many of these people have been let out of prison early because they "behaved" themselves only to do it again?

A miracle that she is alright - so many prayers were answered. Now these news websites need to take her picture off -- she''s safe. Put up the suspect''s picture on your home pages -- that''s the picture we should all be studying now. The news conference made it clear that they want the little girl''s picture and name taken out of the media.

I truly hope the authorities thoroughly investiage the little girl''s family. I heard in the press conference that she is happy and with her mother.
And that the mother and her family had no idea this happened. Something just doesn''t sit right with me.
Why was this man alone with her? Maybe the mother knew what was going on and knows she might be caught, so is playing innocent. I hope I"m wrong. I just want the little girl to be in a safe, healthy home. I pray they had nothing to do with this. But, it must be found out. Leave no stone unturned in this case. Madison deserves it.

GMK5 ...I had a lady friend thats mother farmed her out for plesure to her boyfriend in the 80''s while high {she was 10}the effects were devastating let''s pray she blocks this out of her mind. If the assailent wasn''t the dad she had to know him in some fashion you just don''t let strange men watch your kids period. I smell hard drugs one reason I''ve found this so upsetting. This child has a long road and won''t discover the pervertiness till later years. I pray she does better than my old friend.

I am anxious for more facts and news on this story so that I can have some peace about it. Right now all I want is to know that she will be safe and that she is loved and protected and is getting help.

"That guy in the picture doesn''''t look like the guy in the video to me."

I didn''t think so either. Another guy in the Pahrump area so registry looks like the monster in the video too. Pictures are tough. They didn''t say he was identified as the guy in the video yet. They say he''s a person of interest, but he''s close enough in appearance to be the guy. He needs to be found. He''s a link in the sick chain that caused this to happen. Maybe the direct link. Put his picture EVERYWHERE. Someone has to know this guy. Put the picture up in every state in the US

They also stated she''s with "family and sheriffs officials." So they haven''t left her alone with the family. Until they find out what happened that little girl is going to be under close watch. Prayers answered. Let''s pray some more that the animals involved are brought to justice. She''s going to need to know someday people cared enough to lock up her monster(s). You can''t imagine what she went through. It''s more urgent than ever they find this guy. There''s other little girls out there who may not have been fortunate enough to be left alive by this subhuman POS.

I hug and love my children all the more. I hope this matter is thourghly investigated, like how involved was the people who did this to her were? While I whole heartedly agree with all posts I have seen, this is a terrible tragedy and how much more I hug my kids, I know that people (parents) cannot live in complete fear of something happening to their children. Certainly be vigilant but do not whole yourselves up in your home to the extent you stay home from work and do not enjoy life.

Truth is...people will read this story. Get sick to their stomachs. Get upset. A few days will pass. This child will not even be a flicker in their minds. Sad note. The majority will do nothing about their own child(rens) safety. They''ll go about business as usual. Another story will hit. We''ll play save the day. Then it''ll be history in few short hours. That''s the sick part about stories like this and many others. Nobody learns. This kid will never, ever forget. Too bad and very sad that the majority of us will. Now that''s sick.

mdc76082 - I completely understand what you are saying about people getting upset for a few days, it dies down, then back to life as usual until the next awful thing happens. Well..I am one person (and I''m sure there are many others) who think of these things every day. It started for me in 2003 when I read the story of Tesslynn O''Cull. Since then, I have read hundreds of news stories of children who have been horrendously tortured and killed. I pray every day that I can DO SOMETHING. I''ve written congress, written Oprah, searched my mind on an organization I can start, a march on Washington. I''m TIRED of babies losing their childhood. Sickened to know so many suffer horrendously and don''t even understand why. I DO care. I think we ALL need to say ENOUGH of the filth, pornography (I am sick of the free speech argument) and think about what really matters. To hell with "do what you please and whatever feels good" from the 60''s. I''m sick of the 60''s mentality. Children have suffered too much from the sins of our perversion and sin. I care.
