Best Memory Boosters For Women
(CBS)
In today's stress-filled world, multi-tasking if often essential -- making forgetting something more likely.
Moms, in particular, can fall victim to that possibility.
But the current issue of Health magazine (www.health.com) offers an array of things a woman, and anyone, can do to improve her or his memory.
On The Early Show Thursday, nutritionist Samantha Heller, a contributor to the magazine, shared many of the suggestions, some food-related, some not.
Heller says what we eat has a direct effect on how well we can remember things.
"For example," she says, "the fats we eat make a big difference. Stay with omega-3 foods, such as fish, olive oil, peanuts, peanut butter, avocados, and any plant foods."
Dark chocolate is another good one. Heller recommends drinking cocoa without sugar or eating dark chocolate, sans marshmallows!
Dark green vegetables or green leafy ones have a stronger beneficial effect on brain health and memory than other veggies. Specifically, broccoli, spinach and kale are excellent. However, all veggies help to maintain good recall.
