(AP)  Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Tuesday on misdemeanor drunk driving charges after failing a field sobriety test, a police spokeswoman said.

The 40-year-old actor was pulled over at around 1:10 a.m. in western Los Angeles, after officers spotted him making an illegal U-turn, said Officer Kevin Maiberger. He reportedly tested over the state's legal blood alcohol limit of .08 percent.

Sutherland was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence and taken to a Hollywood station, police said. she said. He was released around 4 a.m. after posting $25,000 bail, according to Sheriff's Department records.

Also arrested for DUI in 1988, 1993, and 2004.
Funny...No mention of it here...guess it wasn''t "newsworthy"

So much for the "3 strikes" law

i''ll never understand why these ''stars'' don''t get someone to drive them around wherever they want to go. i''m sure they can afford it. also, cops normally don''t just stop someone because they''re out late. . .the person has to do something wrong (or stupid life an illegal u-turn!) to make them stop a driver. the world will just never learn, huh?

MyIDonCBS

When I was doing criminal defense work many moons ago, I met a number of indigents who did not mind spending winter in jail. It was warm and they were fed. I never understood that rationale, but I saw it enough to know it was beyond extremely rare and into the low frequency range of things.

The bail is the least of their problems. We have a lot of folks killed annually by drunk drivers. Probably for someone like Keifer an O.R. would do (I doubt he would flee), but there is no reason to create a special category for celeb''s. Their *** is kissed enough as it is.

Why don''t these rich celebraties have drivers? If us plebes can have a designated driver, surely they can afford a cab or limo to haul their plastered self home.

snidegrass, who must be off his meds now, says, "most poor people love jail, they get three hots and a cot".

In over 50 years, I have only met 1 single person in this world who loved being in jail. I doubt there are many more.

who would you book for drunk driving?
a rich person or a poor one. the rich pay
cops salaries. the poor just take
up space in jail, and cost police money
to feed them. most poor people love
jail, they get three hots and a cot.
who could ask for more. kick back, read
magazines, demand prisons be made coed,
threaten to riot if they aren''t.
talk in pig spanish, if they know that.
the ******* kingdom needs love too.
indians all. as chief morning star
of the apache nation, i salute their
chutzpah. long sentence, is fine.
yum yum. mighty good food, and servants too.

I''m so glad that I don''t have to drive along side those "Hollywood" people. Looks like all they do is drink and drive!! Nope, I''ll stay right here in the midwest.
