Sheila Thorne, an agent in the FBI's New Orleans office, said authorities were reviewing whether the site breaks any federal laws. She said the FBI had "gathered intelligence on the matter," but declined to further explain how the agency got involved.
CNN first reported Friday about the Web site, which features a swastika, frequent use of racial slurs, a mailing address in Roanoke, Va., and phone numbers purportedly for some of the teens' families "in case anyone wants to deliver justice." That page is dated Thursday.
The Rev. Al Sharpton said in a statement Saturday that some of the families have received "almost around the clock calls of threats and harassment," and called on Gov. Kathleen Blanco to intervene.
A Blanco spokeswoman said the governor had asked law enforcement - primarily state police - to investigate.
"These people need more than an investigation. They need protection," the Rev. Jesse Jackson said. He said his organization would be in touch with President Bush's nominee for attorney general, Michael Mukasey.
"This is a test for the disposition of the Department of Justice to serve as an intervenor and a deterrent" to hate crimes and discrimination, Jackson said. He said federal marshals should protect the families.
Carolas Purvis, whose number was among three listed on the Web site, said she did not feel in danger. Purvis is the aunt of Bryant Purvis, who has yet to be arraigned. She said she has received a number of calls, some from people who say nothing, others to let her know that her number had been put on the site. One, Friday night, used the N-word to her young son, she said.
A dispatcher for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department said no one in the office Saturday could say whether any threats had been reported.
Of the two other numbers listed as "active" on the Web site, one was not answered Saturday; the other yielded a constant busy signal.
On Thursday, thousands of demonstrators marched in a civil rights demonstration in support of the so-called Jena 6. The six black teens were arrested after a December attack on a white student - the culmination of fights between blacks and whites.
Of the six teens arrested, five initially were charged with attempted second-degree murder; charges for four have been reduced as they were arraigned. Charges against the sixth teen, booked as a juvenile, are sealed.
Mychal Bell is the only one to have been tried so far. A state appeals court recently threw out his conviction for aggravated second-degree battery, saying he couldn't be tried as an adult. He remained in jail pending an appeal.
William A. "Bill" White, listed as the Web site's editor and commander of the American National Socialist Workers Party, did not immediately answer an e-mail to his address. Calls to one of the two William Whites listed in Roanoke were not answered; the other said he was not involved with the site.
Blanco said Saturday that harassing families involved in the case "cannot and will not be tolerated."
"Public attacks on private citizens done out of ignorance and hatred is appalling, and anyone who stoops to such unspeakable persecution will be investigated and subject to the full penalty of law," she said in a statement.

- "six kids ganging up on one is a hate crime, especially when it is 6 blacks on one white."

No, it''s called a high school fight, in this case provoked by a stupid kid throwing racial slurs around.
That DA should be required to swear under penalty of perjury that he was never involved in a high school fight when he was a kid.
There were a lot of fights like that in my high school.
I was actually involved in some of them, though it was the reverse in my case. I usually attacked and beat up six guys at once.
But no one ever suffered any permanent damage, and nobody went to jail for it. - Reply to this comment
- GIVE TEXAS BACK TO MEXICO
Posted by usmcvn at 09:38 PM : Sep 23, 2007
Ok, since California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico nd parts of other western states were once Mexico, we can give them all back. Then the Mexicans can give it back to Spain, and then the Spanish can give it back to the Natives. Then the Natives can give it back to the animals...etc. - Reply to this comment
- And there are black and white parents that need to be held accountable for teaching their children misanthropic behavior and degeneracy.
There has been case after case of black teens/young adults terrorizing black neighborhoods gang-banging, drive-by shootings, robbing, carjacking, selling drugs etc. but I''ve yet to see community leaders and a predominate black leaders come forward.
I''ve heard these six had previous records before this incident, now that doesn''t excuse the actions of those white students, which I''m quite sure they probably also had [would have had] criminal records, if local law enforcement hadn''t failed to execute, but goes to demonstrate how black folks allow other black folks to terrorize their communities, however, become outraged if said individuals are brought up on charges, because they have unleashed their unbridled wanton behavior onto others [white folks], of which others [white folks] are so tolerant as blacks. - Reply to this comment
- The problem with this "picture", individuals making asinine excuses, from both blacks and whites.
Blacks make excuses for disorderly blacks and whites makes excuses for disorderly whites, maybe if individuals stop making excuses and start some "self-policing" incidents such as this one and others wouldn''t occur.
Yes racism is still "ALIVE" and well in America, there are still para-military groups of primitive-minded white folks still trolling black residential areas in Southern and upper-Northern rural areas of U.S. terrorizing and intimidating blacks, a fact, not fiction, of which a majority of whites, if not all, are fully aware of, but continuously make "childish" or "immature" explanations for their behavior.
Likewise, there are some black folks who "REFUSE" to raise their children properly, forge good work ethic, and foster educational values, of which racism is often used as an excuse for their "failures", and like the white folks mentioned, the black communities, leaders, etc. are fully aware, but make asinine excuses and rationalize their behavior.
The problem lies with those disorderly, unproductive, and parasite individuals and their enablers, because as long as they have individuals such as some of those posting here making excuses for their obnoxious behavior, then racism and black self-degradation will continue..... - Reply to this comment

You were better off not commenting on the issue dude. I think you are the only "jerk". First and foremost, if you watch the news and if you ever lived anywhere outside of your mind, you will notice that "Young adults are nothing to F@#! with"!! I know of kids who are quicker to pull the trigger than most adults.
IGNoRaNcE/CaReLeSsNeSs should not be an excuse!!
Wait ''til the s@#! hits your backyard dude! See if you''ll have time to turn the other cheek! - Reply to this comment
- No wonder we have all these young adults acting crazy!! Simply read some of your own comments and you will see why. Schooling starts at home! Stop acting like schools are to blame for your childrens actions!! The "PARENTS" are the first preceptors. When your child enters the education system, they should know right from wrong, they should have etiquette, they should have manners and be sensative to differences. The last time I checked, Teachers DO NOT get paid to show your children the "birds and the bees", right from wrong, how to share, how to love, how to be sensative or aggressive. Don''t be surprised if theses so called "non-black" children, or young adults start killing their own families.

- Southern Fascist need to realize that there is no place for them in this nation. The keep hiding in the bushes hoping, I''d suppose, that people will forget about them and what they do. It''s just not going to happen and they need to get some education. That is the one mistake we made in the 60''s, we did not clean up the garbage. You can''t just pass a law and clean up the criminals and the trash.

Wow...there is a racist statement if I ever heard one!! BTW I am white. I think one of the most horrid hate crimes was what those disgusting six white people did to that poor black girl named Megan. Now that story is old news already....why, cause she was black and they were white?

The site fits perfectly the precise definition of agitprop belonging to a terrorist organization, advocating violence to non military targets, but to Bush and the homeland security people, its just some good ol'' boys having fun.
The FBI should have been investigating these people ever since the concept of fighting terrorism was first proposed, but many of the members are politicians themselves. - Reply to this comment
- As for their record of punishments being outwardly appearing biased, maybe these black kids act up in school alot more than their white counterparts and that is why their punishment is more severe. Let''''s not jump to conclusions that they are being treated unfairly.Posted by cmp271 at 11:52 PM
Jump to conclusions? But you did just that. Fortunately, most of us are more informed about this case than you are, and we haven''t had to jump to conclusions as you have. - Reply to this comment
- A prank is toilet paper tossed in someone''''s yard and over a tree that is a prank. Not symbols of death and hate like a noose. EMMITT TILL WAS NOT A "PRANK." I.e. a noose is not a "prank." Posted by amazzed at 11:20 PM
Exactly! It is no more of prank than that of the student who walked into an airport with a fake bomb, and said it was just a joke. Nobody is laughing. And it''s not about these people not taking responsibility, it''s about people wanting to discriminate in the application of consequences. But don''t expect racists to understand anything. In reality, their hatred of others is based on their own deep feelings of inferiority, which they project onto others in order to feel better about themselves. - Reply to this comment
- The web site is unnecessary.
six kids ganging up on one is a hate crime, especially when it is 6 blacks on one white.
Justice needs to prevail and put them all in jail.

Leave the black families alone, let them wallow in their hate and racist attitudes. - Reply to this comment

- sbbm... The school board deemed the noose hanging a "prank." The problem is our nation has a violent history with nooses and Emmitt Till is an example of the SIGNIFICANCE of a rope/noose and a tree. There is NOTHING funny about a noose. A prank is toilet paper tossed in someone''s yard and over a tree that is a prank. Not symbols of death and hate like a noose. EMMITT TILL WAS NOT A "PRANK." I.e. a noose is not a "prank."

- It has probably been said, but the worth of these words can never be lost. The tree was not the problem. If the age of the tree was reflective of the age of the whites only "tradition" than the root should have been dealt with much sooner. Jena missed a chance to say collectively all of our children are precious. All of our children can enjoy the shade of God''s tree. Jena closed its eyes when the "tradition" started and it closed it''s eyes when the nation said this tradition is wrong. Jena has to heal what it let metastasize for far to long.
