Usmagazine.com reports that a source at the Emmys says Fox, the network broadcasting the awards show, is negotiating with Spears about an appearance on the Sunday night telecast.
According to the source, "The idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She's weighing the offer," Us reports.

The 25-year-old mother of two was the opening act of the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday. It was supposed to be a performance that would reinvigorate her career and reintroduce her to the public as a serious artist.
The VMAs were once a place where Spears was sure to shine. In 2003, she shared an infamous kiss with Madonna after performing "Like a Virgin" with her contemporary Christina Aguilera. She captivated the audience with her seductive performance of "Slave 4 U," complete with a giant Python in 2001. In 2000, she let the world know she wasn't a little girl anymore when she ripped off a suit and revealed a barely-there flesh colored get-up.
But this year, she barely moved on stage and seemed to forget the words she was lip-syncing. She performed her latest single of her upcoming album, "Gimme More," which initially had been doing well on the charts. Since the performance it has lost momentum.
Meanwhile, Spears continues to negotiate with her ex-husband Kevin Federline over alimony and custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1

Producer Timbaland told MTV that Spears should "humble herself," and perhaps that is what she intends to do. But according to US, a source close to her said nothing is final.
"I can't say this is 100 percent not true," the source said. "All I can say is that the Emmy people aren't dealing with her record company, her manager or her agents at William Morris. So if she is doing anything for the Emmys then it's not going through the official channels."

But the media do love a moving car wreck. Build you up, tear you down. Same old story. They
like to film celebs in all their pathetic ridiculousness. Britney could be walking down the street with her kids & trip & fall. Press would be worrying about getting the right shot while her kids lay on the pavement crying.

- KIMKEAIRNS, I agree with you. Well said. sjw1253, nice post. I''m a 64 year old man and NOT too old to be a fan. Since her troubles started after getting rid of jerk ball Fed-Ex, I have looked at her history carefully and have grown to love her as an artist and a person. When you sort through all the lies and rumors that the online tabloids pander as fact, Britney comes out looking good. Yeah, she''s got work to do on herself.

- I think everyone is being overly critical of this yound mother. She has great potential and I think if everyone gets off her back she will calm down and work to become the Britney we all have grown to love. The media should be ashamed of capitalizing on the problems she is having. Remember we are not all perfect and will make mistakes, We learn from them and become a stonger person. So Britney, I think you can do anything you set your mind to. I wish you all the best and may god be with you in all that you do.

Hey "killtheliars" - I hope your past and future are pefect so that you have nothing to make up for.
Brittany (although I am much too old to be a "fan") in my opinion - as anyone - has a great opportunity to grow and shine as she learns from her life experiences.
She clearly has a tremendous amount of talent and needs to learn how to balance her adult life around the very early fame and fortune that she has been "blessed" with...
She as anyone else - has the potential to shine in the future... It is all how you look at your life and learn to atone for any mistakes you have made...
