(AP)  A 6-year-old Texas girl who had been sexually assaulted was found hanged inside her family's garage, and authorities on Thursday described her mother's boyfriend as the primary suspect.

The boyfriend was arrested Wednesday on a charge of possession of child pornography and remained in the Navarro County Jail on Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies have not charged him in the death of young Hanna Mack, but they identified him as the primary suspect, Chief Deputy Mike Cox said Thursday.

Dana Mack discovered her daughter missing Monday morning about the time the first-grader should have been getting ready for school. The little girl's body was found in a rust-covered garage behind her home in Navarro Mills Lake, about 65 miles south of Dallas.

The mother last saw Hanna sleeping on the couch around 1 a.m., according to Jean Langford, the girl's great-grandmother.

"(Dana) is just devastated. We all are," Langford said. "This is the worst thing that's ever happened to this family. Hanna was our pride and joy. She was our little sweetheart."

In a letter to the sheriff's department, Navarro County justice of the peace Vicki Gray said an autopsy of the body showed "a multitude of events that together caused the death of this child." No other details were released.

Neighbors gathered Wednesday evening outside the garage in Navarro Mills, a rural lakeside community in east Texas, and prayed during a vigil. They donated money to the family, held a moment of silence and released balloons into the air.

Many worried that a predator could be on the loose.

"My kids sleep in the bed with me," said Pam Gray, who lives next door and whose children rode the school bus with Hanna. "They get off of school and they've heard all the rumors and wild things, and they're terrified."

Police asked state caseworkers to not say if Hanna's family had been investigated by child welfare officers, said Marissa Gonzales, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She characterized the request as uncommon.

Tool,Dear I am more scared of a man that lives in our city..He knows everything and he went thru my papers in person..He follows me every where co I am blind and he knows I can''t move and forget the cops,judge..He has the kind of mental illness that he hides..Everyone believes him..He takes pics of me..A sighted friend told me. There are the DR J and MR H,personity. Most would never spot shch..I can..Thanks to a foster mother that had personity..I can''t help think but that man had the same. There are women who will dump their kids over a man. That is life. I know very little of my parents. As children,we were taught not to give out our address, phone number,if adult is home or not, today e mail address, full name, birthdate, social, are not given. I have a 2rd e mail address ,I will not give out the family name. So when I write verse you notice no last name. I am in my 50s..

And tell me this ... WHY does this have to come to partisan blows? The only thing this has to do with politics is the overall erosion of our society by far-leaning liberals who, in place of law and order, seem to prefer a "free for all" mentality. And we probably have Dr. Spock to thank for the roots of their ideation. Just think of who their parents were looking to as an authority.

I think hermit22 is onto something in holding absentee parents accountable in ways beyond money. My sons'' father went to Europe. Despite his half-dozen emails a year and even fewer phone calls, his absence is causing profound damage and emotional pain. I have since remarried a wonderful man, but yes, single moms have a terribly difficult time ... especially when so-called fathers do the minimum, if that much. Don''t crucify these women too harshly -- many (not all) just want to rebuild a family. This sexual predator, I can assure you, is as much con artist as pedophile. Otherwise, how could he get to his prey? YES custodial parents, usually mothers, should be held accountable for their childrens'' lives. But when she doesn''t EVEN KNOW it''s ludicrous to blame her. She must be suffering beyond anything we can imagine. And the other parent shouldn''t be absolved of responsibility just because they decide they want to pursue "other things." I have such respect for parents who are able to co-parent with civility, putting the needs and well-being of their children FIRST. I''ve heard of divorced couples who live in the same town, even, continuing to be equally involved in their children''s lives. Seems that should be the norm, but my generation is generally too selfish, apparently. I wonder if my children''s generation may choose against the paradigm we have set in place and seek a return to family values that they all crave and are not getting.

seven-pesos, hatred like you have for everything and everyone is the reason why we have problems in the world.. you poor thing you seem to be against everything and everyone..
And although I am not religious I do know that if we followed everything that is said in the New testernment that we would have no killing, raping, hatred, stealing, etc... and while all these things were being taught in schools, at home, in sunday school and church it appears that we had far less problems...and of course as in any club, there is problems, there are fools and there are people who let the club down, but just because there are sports men who go and rape girls, doesn''t mean that I stop watching sport and say that they are the cause of all the world problems... no I am a bit bigger than that, and just because I was raped as a very young teenager, doesn''t mean that I will put you in the same category as that animal who destroyed my life eh.. or should I...

cyberDJs4, are they not kept in isolation for their own protection????

Isolation indeed, what protection do they give the child..I believe that we should stick them in with the worst crims.. and give the crims a reward for having these animals there,, sorry not a reward but compensation ehehhe...

Klingon69, better still, drag him slowly behind a car, but then they will say we are no better, but it sure would feel good to at last see someone get what they deserve...and yes it is not good to lower ourselves to their level, but we have to do something about punishment for the sake of the good.. Giving them light sentences sends a message that the law is an ***.

You need to get a hobby instead of picking everything I say, apart. You and radiob seem to have the same problem. You feel the need to twist and turn what I say into what you want it to say. Obviously you didn''t read my post at 1:19, either that or your too stupid to comprehend it.

Actually you must be pretty stupid if you have nothing better to do than distort what I say.
You need to get a life.

Wouldn''''t it be better to kill the child than be identified? It truely is sad.....
Posted by Scorp79

When the penalty for kidnapping is the same as murder, why would someone who risked a kidnapping rap let the kid go when the kid can now identify them? They kill the kid and take their chance, why not? if the penalty for murder is the same as kidnapping they have little to lose taking the chance.

"Seems strange to me that all I ever see at those vigils are aging hippies, and various other LEFT-Wing bleeding heart LIBERALS. Remember, liberals were the ones got the death penalty removed from many states.

Posted by Klingon69"

You got that backwards, it''s the religious REICH at those anti death penalty vigils- the ones who sport those posters you see on the 11PM news holding candles and yammering about JEZUS and the BIBULL. The religious REICH who at the other end of things- wants to outlaw all abortion too, the Randall Terry Bibull thumpers, you know, the ones like that rightwing nut here- stinkingprick, er rick that constantly quote the biBULL.

I hate to say it, but I will. I see these women with this type of loser trash everyday here in TX. I don''t understand it, I don''t get it, most could do much, much better than the trash they pick & choose. I don''t let my kids out of my site when they are outside and rest assured they sure as he11 don''t go over to anyones house, unless its a B-day party with other adults (myself & my wife) present. call it over protective, or what ever but the "old days" are long gone. This is what happens when these women THINK they can''t do better than the piece of sh** they pickup at the local bar, "oh but he loves me and he pays my bills." Yeah, and he''ll kill your kids. You know absolutely nothing about him....on & on & on. TX is full of these pedos, cause the laws are lax. We have 2 pedos (We had 3), that live on our road alone and about 1/2 dozen more in and around the area of our residence. We show the kids what they drive, what they look like. This guy and many more like him are the lowest lifeforms on this planet and should be irradicated from civilization. Permanent solution! It''s either that, or kids are gonna keep dying horrible, last seen by their eyes deaths unless America''s parents step up and let the legislature know enough is enough already.

"better a millstone be hung around his neck and he be drown in the depth of the sea, rather than that he offend one of these little ones"....

i learned that in church when i was a kid, and didn''t know what it meant, but now i know this guy and his sort need the millstone necklace.

where is the BIOLOGICAL father? those slitherin slimeballs that slink off and leave their children to fend for themselves in who knows what sorts of devilish situations need to be called in for reckoning in these matters. the only excuse he may have is if he is dead! other wise he needs to anwers for why his daughter was left with this pervert. if FATHERS were held accountable for ALL their children tons of social service problems would be CLEARED UP.

People think this guy should get the death penalty, but prisoners will tell you that solitary confinement is a fate worse than death. Put him in a hole somewhere with no outside contact.

"(Dana) is just devastated. We all are," Langford said.

Poor Dana my azz. Now she is going to have to live forever knowing that the sicko she was s*crewing killed her baby. Hope that romp in the sack was worth it. There is not enough anti depressants for the grief she should have to endure the rest of her life.

I don''t get upset over the sexual predators that get sent to prison anymore.
There is an unwritten "code of ethics" in prisons. Convicts don''t like child molesters.

Their fates will be worse than any capital punishment the States can provide.

He just added the other stuff, like locking the doors to make it look like he isn''''t obsessed with the guns, like everyone knows he is.

I own/like guns myself, but am not obsessed. However, would gladly shove the barrel of my 12 gauge up his arse and pull the trigger.

We the people are living in a prison out of fear.. we keep getting told that executing these animals and harder punishments doesn''t work...... ROT...... go to Singapore it sure works there, the streets are very safe at night there and so are their homes..
We are being sold a lie, harder punishments does work, so it does on a child.. We were belted as kids and goodness gracious me we never had to lock up our homes... Funny how we respected others and their possessions, but now days we are told that smacking a child is brutality,, well if it means we can once again have respect, peace, security, etc then lets go back to 40 years ago.. Once again we have allowed a portion of the people have forced their ideals on us.. TV forces violence on our children and yes we can turn it off but our kids get it at school from the families who don''t turn if off and as My husband said (who was a School Principal of both private and state) that far to many parents don''t have supervision over what their children see and to what time of night or morning they watch TV...

If they took animals like this out slowly and painfully then perhaps these animals would think twice before destroying a child''s life.. Just having ??? with a child causes damage inside the body when the child is ripped open, let alone the mental damage which also destroys them for life.. Locking these animals up is far toooo good for them.. and as one lawyer said to us years ago that the law seems to be on the side of the criminal now. So this animal will probably be out in a very few years so who said that if you get caught that crime doesn''t pay..
People we have to wonder if many of our judges and lawyers are in fact part of this, as anyone with half a brain knows that giving light sentences is not punishment. Children who are raped and the families of those who are murdered have a life sentence, like should be repaid for like.. oh but we cant hurt the poor criminal can we, they might have had a bad childhood or been on drugs at the time..
