  • Timeline Britney's Meltdown

She shaved her head, went commando and drove with a baby in her lap. Here's a look at past antics of pop princess Britney Spears.

(CBS)  Britney Spears cannot escape bad press. Now, Timbaland -- perhaps the most respected and sought-after producer in the music business -- says the embattled singer ruined any chances of collaboration with him and her former flame Justin Timberlake.

Timbaland told MTV news that Spears could have greatly benefited from a collaboration with Timberlake, who was named MTV's male artist of the year at last weekend's Video Music Awards. It was close to happening, but Spears' ego got in the way, Timbaland said.
"She should, humbly humble herself, "Timbaland told MTV News. "And make a phone call and say I'm sorry. That's it."

"She knows what she's sorry about, too," he added.

Timeline: Britney's Meltdown
Britney needs a hit, Timbaland said, and considering his success over the past year with Timberlake, 50 Cent and Nelly Furtado, he is the producer to do it, but not until Spears is willing to take advice.

"(She got) so big-headed and [was] like, 'Screw you, screw you, I don't need nobody,' " he said.

In March, Timbaland had said that he and Timberlake would love to work with Spears if she was serious about a comeback. Now, especially after her dismal VMA performance, Timbaland says she needs to prove herself.

"She needs a story," he told MTV. "She has no comeback story. That's the problem. She has to have a team."

Britney is a star; more so than some current popular performers. When she performed you must admit she was great. We do not know all she has endured in her heart. She has been under constant surveillance for years. And lo, I think she truly loved her husband who in turn did not give her the love, respect and support that every marriage needs. The press should back off. Also, I think she needs a new manager and support staff.

Brittany could learn a thing or two from Timbaland AND Justin Timberlake. Her people (who ever they are) need to point her in the right direction. Enough with the crazy antics already. Brittany is a performer (read: not a singer) and needs to get back to what she does best... entertain the masses!

Why would she want to collaborate with the two men that have been mocking her in all the songs they have recorder lately. Listen to the one they have with Nelly Furtado "Give it to Me" and Justin Timberlakes verse the first part of this verse is directed towards Britney duh!...And "Cry me a River" duh ! You think she''s that dumb? uh NOT....give the girl a break She''ll come back she just needs some time. The reason she''s going through this is because of her old ***, wrinkled, trying to look young Mother of hers turning on her to side with K-Fed. I''m praying for her. And you all should learn how to not Judge because there is only one Judge.

Justin has tried for the last 5 years to destroy Britney Spears. Does Timbaland not remember a song called "Cry Me A River"? Britney owes him nothing.

Timbaland is the producer flavor of the moment. Ask Pharrell Williams how that can cycle in and out. The only reason he''s bringing up Britney is to get his name in the press. He''s had hit songs but nobody cares what he says until he talks about Britney.

Bad Karma''s coming Timbo.

even if she says she''s sorry *** her. Don''t produce her stuff, this way she''ll keep falling. In about 5 more years she''ll be doing low budget porn to support her habit.

Hey dgal878----you hit the nail on the head!!!! That is exactly what she needs to do. Although Timbaland, believe it or not, makes about 1 million dollars for just one producing gig. He''s just that good at what he does.

Hey, it''s all about MONEY, people. Timbaland can''t make a dime off of Brit until she decides to grow up. I don''t know if Brit has any real talent or not but right now she''s just wasting her life away.

Oops, she did it again. I never thought she had any "good talent." but nevertheless, I feel she is going through some personal problems and should be aloud to make a come back.

Spears couldn''t stage a comeback now with anyone. Face it. She was just a pretty face who could dance and sing. America is full of 15min talents like that.

Seems to me the one with the big ego is Timbaland himself. Britney could stage a comeback with any number of producers. She doesn''t need Timbaland and his tiresome "it''s all about me" ego games.

Spears just needs to go away for a while, grow up, learn to be a decent mom and citizen, and then maybe try to come back. We''re all tire of hearing about her.
