Admitting it was "the worst kept secret," Barbara Walters announced that comedian and actress Sherri Shepherd has replaced Star Jones as a permanent co-host on the show.
To further dramatize the long-awaited introduction, Shepherd then walked on stage to the tune of "Sherry."
An overly excited Shepherd said "I'm with all the ladies!" and then didn't hold back by letting out a big scream.
Shepherd's introduction marked the first time that the daytime chat show has a full cast since before Rosie O'Donnell left.
The comedian-actress is no stranger to co-hosting "The View" as she has guest-hosted 23 times throughout the summer while trying out to see if the shoe would fit, and it did.
Shepherd was also caught in the crossfire during the show that ultimately lead to O'Donnell's early departure from "The View." In vain she tried to go to a commercial to end the argument between Hasselbeck and O'Donnell over the later's comments about the war in Iraq.
Shepherd appears in the upcoming film "Who's Your Caddy." She has also starred in "Pauly Shore Is Dead" and "The Jamie Foxx Show." She even played God once on the CBS show "Joan of Arcadia."
Published reports had Walters set to appoint Shepherd in late July, around the time Whoopi Goldberg was selected as the show's new moderator, but the announcement was delayed, perhaps an indication that negotiations were still being smoothed out.

- I wish that Rosie was still on the View. She is the only one that would talk back to that blond and Rosie lost. Mrs. blond will get hers some day. Just live a little longer. I hope Whoopi will stand up to her. I don''t think Whoopi will because she wants her job. Mrs. Blond is the worst kind of person. She knows what is good for everyone

- I saw Rosie early in her career as a normal, typical woman in a movie about a resort - forget the name of it, but I promise it wasn''t memorable. The important thing is the impression of this person came across as a pig, without her having any excuse that people were picking on her because of her weight, her sexual preference or her sloppy, nasty demeanor. I think The View was good at exposing Rosie for what I believe she is - an obnoxious, nasty, pig-mouthed person who has luckily made a lot of money by people who somehow enjoy her abuse, but the party is over. I think she needs to sit back for a while, enjoy her partner and her kids, and maybe come back when she grows up enough to use her obvious talents in a productive way.
AS far as The View''s recent choices of hosts, I as a man am intrigued enough to tune in and take a look. - Reply to this comment
- I think this is a career move for Sherry. Whoopi doesn''t really "need" the gig. Maybe she''s just biding her time with this "fill-in". I didn''t like the person that "Star" became on the view. Before the View, she was an intelligent and interesting person. The View must have brought out the ugly in her. I have never like Elisabeth''s "view". That young lady is entirely too opinionated for me. Just my take on the show, that''s all!!!

- It makes me very uncomfortable to watch this self-congratulatory group.

- I hope they all live long and prosper but the show will have to go on without me. It''s just a hen party, as far as I''m concerned. They are too comfortable with controversy and drama, and for nothing more than just baiting each other. It''s just too much. Good luck to them but see ya in the funny papers.

- Just about anything is better than "Star."
And Rosie for that matter.
Daytime TV is enough to make the unemployed look for a job. - Reply to this comment
- Sherri Shepherd reminds me of the early Star Jones...before an exploding ego and secret diet surgery! Sherri - stay the way you are - do not let this show go to your head! And, diet is up to you!
