Kanye Kvetches, 50 Cent Brings The House Down, And Nelly Wears A $200 Tee

(AP)  There's plenty to talk about after the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards including Britney Spears' unfortunate opening number and Chris Brown's triumphant first-ever performance at the show. Here's some of the juicy stuff that went on when the cameras weren't rolling.

Sour Grapes From Kanye West - Again.

Shut out at the Video Music Awards, Kanye West threw a tantrum Sunday night in front of media and crew backstage as the MTV show was ending.

West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing in all five categories for which he was nominated.

"That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance," West said, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. "I'm trying hard man, I have the ... number one record, man."

West said he never will return to MTV.

The rapper was nomination for five awards, including male artist of the year. This is the latest in a series of awards show outburst for West. Last year, he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Awards after not winning for best video.

Awards Show Gamblers Were Fakes

Not much ever gets in the way of the gambling in Las Vegas, but MTV and its Video Music Awards elbowed it aside for a while Sunday night at the Palms Casino.

The casino removed dozens of gaming tables and about 400 slot machines to make room for the award show's red carpet. People seen gambling directly behind the red carpet were cast by MTV and not playing with real chips.

George Maloof Jr., who runs the Maloof family's $915 million resort was slightly thrown by the sight of pseudo gambling in his casino. He joked: "I've lost all control."

"This is part of the whole show," said Maloof Jr. "It's one of the props."

Don't be concerned about the real gambling money the hotel had to pass on. The show served as a giant advertisement for the Palms Hotel and Casino, which Maloof Jr. said outweighed any lost gambling revenue.

"You've got to look at the big picture," he said. "We took out a lot of our machines and our tables, but it is what it is. We're just happy to have the opportunity."

Nelly Sports $200 T-Shirt

Nelly was wearing a very expensive white T-shirt as he got ready to hit the red carpet at the MTV Awards Video Music Awards Sunday night.

"It's a two-hundred-dollar white T," Nelly said. "It's got to be the most expensive white T I've ever had in my whole life."

"I'll be sure not to spill anything on it."

50 Cent: Everybody Out Of The Pool

50 Cent's poolside performance at the Hard Rock Hotel almost turned deadly.

The rapper ended his show early after part of his stage - and its attached lights - sagged dangerously close to the water Saturday night.

"Back up," he yelled. "You're going to get electrocuted."

The trouble started when 50 threw a fistful of dollars into the air and fans swarmed to collect the cash. They leaned on the stage and it started to give way.

When the cash-seeking swimmers failed to heed his warning, 50 called it a night and walked off stage.

Kanye West is such a cry baby! He cries foul about every award show that he is nominated, and doesn''t win. Maybe he should be more humble?

Britney needs to have her stylist "gimme more" clothes, and her publicist "gimme more" guidance. She also needs the stage manager to "gimme more" backup dancers to hide her bad dancing, and her doctor to "gimme more" vitamins for her lethargy.

In the meantime, can you gimme more Kevin Connolly and Adrian Grenier from the VMAs? And, how about gimme more of the real talent there- Justin Timberlake, Kayne West, and Chris Brown?

What happened to the MTV Award shows that were held in a large theatre and one stage? This mess was just too spread out and obviously out of control. How stupid to have changed the venues to all this cr@p.
