Matt Damon Talks About The Challenges Of Filming His New Movie, "The Bourne Ultimatum"

(CBS)  While any actor would be thrilled to have starred in a film such as "The Departed," "The Good Shepherd" or "Ocean's Thirteen," Matt Damon has released all of these movies in the past 10 months.

Today the latest adventure is released for his signature character, Jason Bourne, in "The Bourne Ultimatum."

On Friday's The Early Show Matt Damon stopped by to talk about the making of the film with co-anchor Harry Smith.

Similar to the previous Bourne movies — "The Bourne Identity" and "The Bourne Supremacy" — "The Bourne Ultimatum" is loaded with stunts, chases and intense fight scenes.

One of the reasons the Bourne movies succeed, according to Damon, is the realness of different scenes. "There's never any green screen," he said.

One scene in "The Bourne Ultimatum" involves Damon's character jumping from a roof into a window of another building. Damon said it was a great scene because of its authenticity. "All three guys who were doubling me in that sequence could actually do (that stunt). So it was very doable," he said.

While Damon said it was pivotal to shoot in the actual locations of scenes in the movie, such as Morocco and Madrid, there were times when it was challenging. "It was madness," he said.

Because of the nature of the location, improvisation was often necessary. Damon said, "(Producers) were making contracts with people on the spot to let us shoot."

Damon even had an encounter with an angry shopkeeper during one of the shoots. He said, "At one point, I was running in the middle of a sequence, and a shopkeeper jumped out and grabbed me out of nowhere." After the shopkeeper was given some money from the film crew, however, things calmed down.

After three Bourne movies, Damon does not rule out another film in the series. But he said that the circumstances would need to be just right. "I never say never," he said, "but it would have to be a pretty great script."

This series really surprised me by actually being compelling. Strong female characters, ridiculous but possible stunts and not too much posturing by the lead. As a side note - if you have a chance to see Matt Damon's impersonation of Matthew McConaughey it is frickin' hysterical.
