Nancy Giles Wants New Blood For President
The Same Two Families Have Run The White House For the Past Two Decades

Photo Essay Hillary Rodham Clinton The Democratic Senator from New York and former first lady sets her sights on the White House.
Hillary Clinton. She's a two-term Senator from New York, with eight additional years of presidential dress rehearsals to boot. Her husband, Bill, was president, now she wants to be president. We're talking big egos here. So what's the real story? Are the Clintons feisty competitors like the gun-slinging Annie Oakley and Frank Butler in "Annie Get Your Gun?" Or do they get charged by outdoing each other like Ann-Margret and Elvis in "Viva Las Vegas?" Or is Hillary's run for commander-in-chief the biggest apology by an unfaithful husband in the history of American politics?
Can you imagine dinner conversation at the Clintons?
"Well, Bill, you were leader of the free world, and that was good, and now it's my turn to be leader of the free world."
"Okay, Hill. I owe you. Let me give you a few pointers."
But wait. The Clintons had a President in the family. They had their turn. And look what's happening with that other family that's hogging the White House, and all the messy father/son dynamics that are in the mix. Saddam was mean to his daddy years ago? George W's gonna git 'em, even if it means going to war with the wrong country! Dad's old team has some advice? George W. ignores 'em, 'cause he's his own man. It's a little bit "Dallas" with a sprinkling of Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," but as this psychodrama plays out, who suffers?
Only the entire free world!
There have been fathers and sons and husbands and wives who've done good: John Adams — father — and John Quincy Adams — son — didn't do too badly as presidents; Nobel-prize winning scientists Pierre and Marie Curie were married and still managed to unlock the mysteries of radium and polonium; and we can only imagine what Posh and Becks will achieve.
Look, powerful people can be as nutty as the rest of us…and we live in a democracy where all of our voices should be heard.
Isn't it time to maybe shake up the political establishment and bring someone new to a table that's been monopolized by the same two families for the last 20 years?

- What's happened to the men or woman with moral fiber and natural leadership such as Ronald Reagon, Dwight Eisenhower and others in the past.

Ronald Reagan = Iran/Contra + screwwed the military.
Dwight Eisenhower = Operation Ajax = root of all evil in the middle east. - Reply to this comment
- Its a shame that no one used this same line of thinking before the 2000 elections.
We could have avoided 8 years of W.
Now its moot. - Reply to this comment
- The Bush family has the honor of being the first American ruling dynasty and it has borne the fruit of all past dynasties: greed, corruption, nepotism, arrogance and an insatiable thirst for raw unbridled power.

Well, X, look on the bright side: After Hillary does her two terms (cuz if she wins, we won't be smart enough to kick her out after one term), then we can get Jeb Bush in for two more. By that time, Chelesa will be old enough to run, then Jenna, and the cycle can continue on infinatum. - Reply to this comment
- "What if there were no R's or D's..." vermonter52
Guess what, dude, there ARE NO R's and D's, just a bunch of corrupt gangsters hiding behind the labels for the support of the sheep who make up the demographics of their respective districts.
See now, as business now donates to the D's party they once shunned, as they know the "R's" have ruined their reputations for a while, by selling out to big business, the pseudo religious zealots, and the ultra right racist factions.
Expect no significant change, as the D's make all the same decisions the R's would have, notice that none of the D's is mounting any serious campaign to reverse the R's erosion of our standard of living, or even to stop Bush and Cheney's illegal war crimes and hold them personally responsible.
There are no R's and D's... - Reply to this comment
The first overt attempt to establish a dynasty was with John Kennedy and his brothers Robert and Ed.
The Bush family has the honor of being the first American ruling dynasty and it has borne the fruit of all past dynasties: greed, corruption, nepotism, arrogance and an insatiable thirst for raw unbridled power.
We do not need or want any more inter familial or inter generational government. Governments of that nature are called monarchies. As talented and experienced as Hillary may be, I do not not believe we can afford another ruling family. This nation was formed in reaction to and in protest against a monarchy. Why are we so eager to establish one here?
We need an amendment to the Constitution to prevent family members succeeding one another. We permit presidents only two terms to safeguard against dictatorship. Why should we let this end run be performed via families?- Reply to this comment
- Good point Nancy. But then again, we're too self centered. We don't want to be involved, just don't involve me type people that I don't think can save ourselves from ourselves. That's what our elected officials are counting on. They could care less what we think of them because most of "you" won't do *** to make the change. I am one that will step up! Will You??

- 2008 will be good for America, because no matter who we elect, no matter which party, we can be reasonably sure that, at least this time around, we won't be electing an imbecile to the highest office of the land.

- I know! Vote for me. My agenda:
1) War crimes tribunals.
2) Gun control... a firm grip and good aim is best.
3) Universal healthcare for all Americans... it's free for illegal aliens, we should get it free too.
4) Eliminate fat retirement packages for politicians... put them on Social Security and see how soon it's fixed.
5) Equal taxes for everyone... no corporate welfare.
6) Environmental protection (not tree hugging)... we only have one planet, let's keep it around for a while.
7) Media controls in the public interest... make them tell the truth and not spew party propaganda.
That's my first 100 days... - Reply to this comment
- I am tired of all the election garbage going on, and just think, we have to listen to it for another YEAR!!!
I am tired of both Clintons and Bushes. I never want to hear the name again!!
Also, after Clinton and Edwards were caught off guard plotting, it makes one wonder what else is being plotted behind the scenes. Do we really think they all don't talk to each other?
There isn't anyone of all the candidates I feel is worth voting for.
Let's pray someone out of the blue takes a shot at the race. - Reply to this comment
- Rhetoric Vs Reality: Think again and you will see how some despite being not in DC can be smart enough to lead.. like JFK and Bill.

- Ugh. I've become such a cynic! As I listened to the commentary I was kinda surprised because I thought, "Okay, she's media so she's probably liberal (plus she has the afro hairstyle - sure sign of liberal)so I'm surprised she's not for the female candidate." My next thought? "Ah! She's black - she's pushing for Obama." Which is so stupid because I'm fish-belly white and pink-ruffly female and I don't want Hillary as my next president, either. I might could go with Elizabeth Edwards, though...

- What if there were no R's or D's and you had to listen to what the the platform of the presidential runner was and vote for the best? So many people in this world vote R or D because their dad or mom did and in the long run have no idea what they are voting for.....other than the R or D party. Listen up America to what these presidential runners are saying and then make a good educated choice not based on party ticket alone.
I can't say as the R's did anything that great. Who can make a living on Walmart and BurgerKing wages? Look at the budget that was once balanced, and our young men getting killed at war and the medical bill written was a duplication of medicare thus more expense to us for something we were already paying for. Get the details - read between the lines. Taxes were cut for the wealthy. - Reply to this comment
- The choices between the top contenders, Romney/Guiliani Clinton/Obama. The R's are going to continue on with endless wars feeding the War Industry. Under The R's tenure, trade deficits and budget deficits have soared.(taxes have been reduced for the top 2%). Globalization has created a sucking sound for both jobs and industries. But corporate profits have also increased substantially. More jobs have been created (burger king Walmart)just to name a few.The R also medicare drug benifits(written by drug maker lobbyist for drugmakers). Civil liberties have been eliminated both overtly and covertly. take a look at the laws passed just prior to the election of 06'. The danger is that the D's may take power and unravel all that has been accomplished by the R's.

- Didn't Bill Clinton win in 1992 with LESS than 50% of the vote, due to Ross Perot? That means that more than half of the country did NOT want that buffoon as president.

Yes, but the didn't rig the Florida vote in 1992 by those suspicious hanging chads! - Reply to this comment

- Would be nice if Nancy would learn what kind of government the US has! Hey Nancy it is a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC not a democracy! Big difference, a democracy is rule by men or mob rule by vote, while a Democratic Republic is rule by law and include rights. I guess you just like the name democratic because I know you are smarted than that.

- We already had our "change" when we lost competent and reasonably balanced government under Bill Clinton. We traded that for an out of touch, incompetent, moronic frat boy that too many of us thought we'd "rather have a beer with." For those of you who had a beer with Shrub, I hope it's still making you burp today.
