Former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey — a friend of Martin's — presided over Saturday's ceremony, Alan Nierob said. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels was Martin's best man, he said.
Most of the roughly 75 guests — who included Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Carl Reiner and Ricky Jay — were not told that Martin and Stringfield would wed when they were invited to his home for a "party," Nierob said. The ensuing nuptials were a surprise to them, he said.
Martin, 61, was previously married to actress Victoria Tennant, whom he divorced in 1994 after about 8 years together, Nierob said.
It was the first marriage for Stringfield, 35, a writer and former staffer for The New Yorker magazine.
The two had dated for about three years, Nierob said.
Martin delivered his vows sporting an Inspector Clouseau mustache he let grow in for his appearance in the upcoming sequel to 2006's "Pink Panther" remake.
His other movies include "Planes, Trains & Automobiles," "L.A. Story," "Parenthood," and "Father of the Bride."
His novel "Shopgirl" was made into a 2005 film starring himself and Claire Danes.
The wedding was first reported by The Insider, a CBS celebrity news show.

marrying your granddaughter is rather unorthodox.
another cradle robber and a graverobber.
from the womb to the tomb, hollywood, on tv.
discovery channel has those birthing shows.
and ultrasound. you name it, science has
accomplished it. with the explosion of
art, there is a backlash. can art be
saved? there is a movement to have it
closed, permanently. rather like the nazi
burnings of books etc. so they can get
purified in the fires. blue may be painted
red. the painted desert in arizona is so nice.
and the petrified forest in new mexico.
did you know science has proven beyond the
shadow of a reasonable doubt that make-believe
is 100% fact and real? read psychology of
the imagination by jean paul sartre. steve

LOL
That's a funny comment; but the match is quite OK. Better than the other way around, saying 'mommy'. LOL
Men should mate younger females who mature faster than males.
No man should mate a female his age; that would be like mating a sister.
And for sure not mating an older female should any man; that would be like mating his mother, far worse than a female mating a father.

Age is not just a number in the real world; but 16 years apart would not be a problem, unless you are prepubescent. LOL

I agree. My wife is 23 years my junior and we are both more than good with that.
No question about that.
At least you got your posting moniker right - you're definitely snide (and possibily smokin' grass or ?)
How come so many people rush to judgment of what others do? Is that really your best effort in this life? All these ugly comments reflect ugly mentalities. How is it your business how long the marrieage lasts? Or who is older than whom? Obviously, you need to get a life yourself. Or maybe you made a life of your own that is so miserable that you have to come down on people who are happy?
Why not wish the Martins every happiness together and hope it lasts till death do them part but, if not, it's their business, not ours?

"The snaps of Martin, 60 were of him frolicking and body surfing with "off-again on-again girlfriend, New Yorker staffer Anne Stringfield, 33."

A "Surprise Wedding" ?!?!
Hollywood nuts...
Regarding the making of the Pink Panther - there are so many old movies that are being brought back by current actors.
I am sure he has plenty of money - but that makes him more free to be able to do things he would like to do. Additionally, remaking the movies of yesterday gives younger people who were not exposed to these movies (and may be unlikely to see them).
I personally did not like the first remake - but again - I was comparing him to Peter Sellers - which hs is not. Those who do not even know who Peter Sellers was may have a complete different view of this.
The different view principle also describes the opinion of people of different ages becoming romantically involved. It is interesting and I guess as long as the person is over 21 there is no problem. I know that 18 is legal - but I still have a hard time with an 18 year old with 1n older man or woman...
I failed to complete my sentence regarding the remaking of old movies.
This gives younger audience members the exposure to the great story lines they would otherwise not be exposed to.
When they see these movies with actors they are familiar - they will see them in a different light than those of us old enough to have enjoyed the original versions with the original actors.
How many Cinderella movies are there? Look at Hairspray... it has been redone as well and may have better ratings this time around than the original...
I personally think it is just fine and for Steve Martin he surely has the capacity to do whatever makes him happy...
We should all be so lucky!!!

- "Shopgirl" is a 2005 film starring Steve Martin, Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman. It is based on the 2001 novella of the same name. Both the novella and the screenplay were written by Steve Martin.
