The young actress ends a whirl of activity by entering rehab. Here's a glance at her year.

(AP)  In the minutes before Lindsay Lohan's arrest, the mother of her former personal assistant called 911 and pleaded frantically for help because a mysterious car was following her — unaware that Lohan was behind the wheel, according to an audio copy released Thursday.

Lohan's personal assistant had quit hours before the event, according to police.

The woman apparently didn't realize that Lohan was in the vehicle following her when she contacted a Santa Monica police dispatcher shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday while driving on Wilshire Boulevard.

"We were just about to park our car. We are turning home and out of nowhere a huge white GMC came up," the woman said to the dispatcher. The recording included unintelligible remarks apparently to the woman's passenger.

"We're being followed by a GMC ... the gentleman jumped out of the car," she added a few seconds later. "Oh my God, sir, they're following us. We need help."

During the nearly three-minute 911 call, the dispatcher repeatedly asked the woman where she is. The woman eventually said she was heading for the police station.

Police said the woman, accompanied by a passenger, drove her black Cadillac Escalade into the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Auditorium, about a block away from the police department, followed by Lohan driving a Yukon sport utility vehicle.

"There he is, that white GMC pickup," the dispatcher said to someone as the car appeared.

During the call, the woman could be heard saying "Oh my God, what is he doing?" Near the end, hysterical but muffled yelling and screaming is heard.

"They're in front of HQ now. Roll somebody code. Ma'am, what's going on there? Hello? Hello? Ma'am? Hello?" the dispatcher said.

A few moments later, a police unit showed up and the woman could be heard in the background, apparently pointing out people to the officers.

"That's him, that's him right there," she said. "And him, stop them."

Authorities who arrived saw Lohan and the woman in what police have called a "heated debate." They also said two men were with Lohan in the car.

Lohan was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and with a suspended license, as well as felony cocaine possession.

Watch what happens with this one - she will plead not guilty, the court will find her guilty and tap her on the wrist with a feather and she will be back out on the road driving again very soon. Poor little girl, my a**! When the rehab doesn't work, it's time to lock 'em up for a while to let 'em sober up and see what they have done. Lindsay will never learn if she gets a pretend sentence like they gave Paris and Nicole. Two DUI's in less than 3 months - wow, something to emulate, isn't it, all you little teenyboppers out there who idolize this spoiled young woman? You need to find a hero who isn't dropping her talent and life into the toilet like Lindsay...

I don't know what is crazier--what Lohan is doing as described in this article, OR some of the responses to her and the article.

You people are weird...don't you have work you can do? Go dig a ditch, or plant a potato, or feed the birds and squirrels????? Freaks.

Whoa! Hey, Paris is getting too much of that free publicity lately - too much of that, "Ahh, poor Paris" attention. But what about Lindsay? They're talking about her being in rehab, but Paris is just getting all the attention. It had to be going to jail that brought Paris over the top, so Lindsay needs to go to jail to get the real juicy publicity. To do that, she has to do something REALLY stupid. Ah, perfect - cause a commotion in the middle of the night, but be sure to be drunk so you get busted in violation of probation. Of course, when you're rich you can get drunk and drugged at home by having a party, but that won't get you arrested, and jail is where the money is.

I have problems feeling sorry for Lohan. Poor rich girl that spends her money on cocaine instead of feeding some of the very hungry children of this country. Drug addiction is the ultimate act of selfishness. Not only the drug addict started once for own enjoyment but disregarding laws, family and looking only for their own satisfaction. That drugs took over is the result of their own wrongdoing. Now I have to feel sorry because they got hooked beyond help. NO WAY. she got what she looked for and the tale of "poor me, my mother and father did not guide me enough" she can call 1800-waaaaa
There are many i this world that have had worse past and have done good. No matter how nasty your parents were, you are the owner of your own destiny and if you get down and fithy after you grow up, means you are as filthy and low life as they were.

She should seek rehab in San Quintin. I hear they have a sucessful program there. That's where poor people go that can't afford rehab.

What a crock!! Why do we give them the time of day? Hollywood and the whole business is rubbish! Pure social elite rubbish! Alternate reality America. Rosie, Lindsay, Paris, Brittney, Modanna, etc. what fine examples of Hollywood royalty!

Publicity prank, or personal psychosis? Better yet, probably a professional punk with positively poor priorities.

It's all Bush's fault. Ms. Lohan is a victim, the fashist police and paparazzi are nothing short of a Gestapo organization. She wouldn't need drugs to escape reality if the world wasn't so unreal. What is a millionare, performer supposed to do?
VOTE DEMOCRAT of course...
