Lindsay Dee Lohan, first child of Michael and Dina Lohan, is born in New York.
Lindsay, age 3, debuts as a model. The adorably freckle-faced redhead was to pose in 100 print ads for Toys "R" Us.
Lindsay appears in many commercials, including Bill Cosby’s Jell-O ads, while growing up on Long Island's tony North Shore. Her family is affluent but troubled: her father was to serve time in prison for securities fraud.
Lindsay joins the cast of the soap "Another World" as little Ali Fowler.
Lindsay wins critical notice in twin roles in a movie remake of "The Parent Trap."
After a series of made-for-television roles, Lindsay takes a break from acting.
Lindsay launches her musical career with a five-album production deal. She also resumes her movie career.
Lindsay stars in the smash hit "Freaky Friday" as a troubled teen who switches bodies with mom Jamie Lee Curtis for one eventful day.
2003-2004Lindsay continues to appear in movie comedies for young audiences, like 2004's "Herbie Fully Loaded." Her first album, "Speak," debuts in 2004. Her hard-partying lifestyle begins to draw notice, and her parents' marital woes make headlines.

2004With "Mean Girls," Lindsay graduates from child star to teen sensation. "Rolling Stone" magazine notes that, due to rumors that she has had her breasts enlarged, photographers are aiming at her cleavage and editors are poring over the pics "as meticulously as the Zapruder film."

Lindsay throws a 19th birthday party for guests including pal Nicole Richie. She has three car accidents during the year-including one in which police say paparazzi intentionally rear-ended her vehicle.
Lindsay is briefly hospitalized for "overheating and dehydration." Her film studio doesn't buy it, chastising her for frequent lateness to the set of "Georgia Rule" and blaming her "all night heavy partying" for her "so-called exhaustion."
August 2006Lindsay hosts the 2005 MTV Music Video Awards.

Late 2006Lindsay wins acclaim for her work in the 2006 drama "Bobby." Her second album, "A Little More Personal, (Raw)," goes gold. It features a song dramatizing her pain at her father's treatment of his family. A spokesman acknowledges that she is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

May 26, 2007After leaving Hollywood’s Les Deux club at 3:30 a.m., Lindsay crashes a Mercedes convertible into a curb on Sunset Boulevard. Police may have found cocaine at the scene. She is arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and enters rehab again.

The crash site is added to Hollywood star-gazing tours. Police confiscate accident debris offered on eBay. Lindsay enters a rehab clinic.
Lindsay completes her stay in rehab. Her attorney says she is tested daily for evidence of alcohol abuse.
Santa Monica police arrest Lindsay after a bizarre incident during which she allegedly pursued her former assistant's mom in an SUV. Police are investigating her for alleged cocaine possession and driving under the influence with a suspended license.
In an email purportedly sent by Lindsay to the host of Access Hollywood, she protests her innocence, claims the assistant’s mom "almost hit" her, and says the cocaine reportedly found in her pocket was "not mine."
July 27, 2007Lohan’s latest movie, "I Know Who Killed Me," is set for release.

Lohan checks into Utah's exclusive Cirque Lodge treatment center. It is her third trip to rehab since January.
Lohan reaches a plea deal on misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges stemming from her May and July arrests. The deal calles for her to enter treatment, spend a day in jail and perform community service. She is also charged with seven misdemeanors stemming from two drunken-driving arrests in the last four months.
Lohan checks out of the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah that she entered in August, according to People magazine. She is set to start rehersals for "Dare To Love Me," a film biopic about tango maestro Carlos Gardel.
Lohan paysher debt to society, all 84 minutes of it. That's how much jail time she served for a misdemeanor drunken driving offense. Her one-day sentence ended early because of jail overcrowding. Officials insist it wasn't special treatment.
Best-selling author Mitch Albom on his first nonfiction work since "Tuesdays with Morrie."
