The young actress ends a whirl of activity by entering rehab. Here's a glance at her year.

(AP)  Lindsay Lohan was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection with a Memorial Day weekend car crash, police said.

Lohan, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered herself at the Beverly Hills Police Department shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday to be fingerprinted and photographed, said Officer Brian Ballieweg.

She was booked on suspicion of a DUI with a blood alcohol level above .08, California's legal limit, and on suspicion of misdemeanor hit and run, Ballieweg said.

The 21-year-old actress was released on her own recognizance. A court date was scheduled for August 24.

A message left early Friday with her publicist was not immediately returned.

The booking was reported by TV's "The Insider."

Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubbery on westbound Sunset Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m. on May 26, police said.

After the crash, Lohan got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in nearby Century City for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The two other people in her car were not hurt.

Officers received a 911 call about the accident and traced her to a local hospital. Police said at the time she had been arrested for investigation of driving under the influence, though she wasn't formally booked on the allegation until Thursday.

Lohan's booking comes a few days after she finished a second rehab stint that lasted over six weeks. She began rehab after a wild Memorial Day weekend that included the crash.

She said in January she had checked into a rehabilitation center for substance abuse treatment.

rach216, I agree, but I don't think it's stupidity, I think it's a mix of arrogance and oblivion.

Keithle1, you are absolutely right - Geez, hire a frigging limo. Wouldn't we all enjoy a night on the town getting in and out of a limo. Man, seriously, how much more fun would that be!?!While I personally couldn't afford to hire a limo/driver, I sure as heck would if I could. These girls are going to party, that's what young (20 something) women do. They just need to be smart about it.

These young (mentally still completely unaware of the real world) people feel 10' tall and bullet proof. They all have been thrust into the spotlight so quickly. (Money can make you stupid.) At their young ages they truly don't realize (or believe) that there are consequences for their actions. Their mentality is, "if she/he can do it, I can do it better". However, they are just kids and we all made mistakes at that age. We were just lucky enough not to have the whole world involved.

What is up with these young women/party girls?
Enough already.
Hire a driver.
Get a cab.
You have lots of money.
Why are you driving after a night on the town? When will they learn?
You'd think they'd be sick of drinking by now. Pack it in, people.
Isn't your acting career more important?

I second this and stop putting other people in harm's way when sloshed.

I think Lindsay is going to continue to party. She should hire a driver and take a good look at her life style. Rehab isn't going to do her much good if she doesn't continue with an outpatient program. She isn't fooling anyone, it certainly doesn't appear that this is something she is interested in doing in the first place.

I love Lindsay Lohan and I think she just needs someone to really love and care for her and I am just the man, I love you baby.

If I were Lindsey or Paris, I would HIRE A DRIVER... doesn't that just make sense? In fact, there are some times that I DO hire a driver. There is absolutely no reason for their stupidity.

These "women", Lohan, Hilton, the rest, are totally without any understanding of reality, or what their actions could result in. If they killed an innocent person drunk driving, they'd get out of it with money. and find a way to blame the dead person. Sick, immoral, cheap wh0res.
